Annenmaykantereits versions of Roxanne with Milky Chance and "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" with Parcels are amazing and I highly recommend watching those. Also their song "Ich geh' heut nicht mehr tanzen" is a good starter for their original songs.
Haven't gotten around to diving into Fallen Rooks yet, (even though they are from around my area) so I can't give recommendations there.

Suzanne Vega who made the original is considered the "mother" of mp3 because they used the song as a benchmark when developing the algorithm. The acapella meant that it was easier to hear any compression artifacts... and they really liked the song I guess 😊
Saw both live. Texan living in Germany. Giant Rooks were very good vibes. The lead singer especially has a very eccentric soul. Annenmaykantereit were such a vibe. Their music always had me reminiscent of a child hood that wasn’t my home country yet I felt like I related so much to it. Both very remarkable bands that sounds just as good studio but better live.
Man I have the same feeling. And I’m from Brazil. There must be a name for this feeling. It’s like I can see and be inside a childhood that I never lived, in a different country. I think if I tell this to a spiritist they’ll say it’s got to do with past lives. It’s a bittersweet feeling.
I have watched the video and reaction videos so many times, but it still gives me full body chills when his voice comes in. :)

AnnenMayKantereit have always been this cozy. They started as a street band in cologne years before having their first album out in 2013 (Which, of course, I bought the day it got released hehe)

I bet even most of the germans like myself just knowing the over and over played "Schlager-like" track "es tut mir leid Pocahontas" and had moved their hips to that, but this is soooooo much better!!!
Literally anything from Henning May (AMK Lead Singer) is amazing, but I mostly enjoy the Valerie and Roxanne Covers. Also "Ich geh heut nicht mehr tanzen" and "Ausgehen" but in the concert versions. Another whole different turn would be "Vermissen" with Juju. Would recommend a video where the german vocals get translation subtitles so you can appreciate the meaning as well.

I can't really tell much about Giant Rooks tbh but i'm a huge Fan of AnnenMayKantereit. So most of their originals are in german and only their covers are in english. As for their originals i would recommend listening to "Ausgehen" and "Ich geh heut nicht mehr tanzen" (you should watch the Proberaum Session versions of both of them, as they are better than the official videos imo). Their covers of "Can't get you out of my head" and "Roxanne" are very good aswell, especially because they collaborate with other great bands. Love your genuine reactions keep doing what you are doing.
