- Christian, K0STH selected me to review a Diamond X30 antenna. I unboxed it, built it, hooked it to the VNA for a quick sweep to make sure everything's okay, and put it up on a pole! I made a couple of repeater contacts in my local area and did a 2m simplex test. 440 Simplex is just too dodgy to coordinate in my forest, but here it is!
Raise the antenna up like vertical use
Das ist ganz schwierig solch eine Antenne aufzubauen ,dazu braucht man ein Supertalent ,da muß man genau nachdenken , das kann ganz schön kompliziert sein😇
Just tried this antenna on a new installation.. Could not get the SWR lowered on 70 cm ?
Yes , it’s true, to achieve an honest reading, set the antenna where you are going to mast it, choose the length of coax and type , then run the testing, that should allow a more accurate operating SWR and also the wattage used will vary the SWR reading as well. My reasoning is that if you pay for a good quality antenna, then why not get the most out of it as you have obviously reached the conclusion towards the end of the Video. So what you did was troubleshoot through the video rather than do the leg work first then produce the video. Hind sight is the good though. Otherwise i am glad you went from start to finish. Nice training video.
I like your style
You can turn off some traces and easier to read SWR VNA useage
Set up the antenna in a tripod in free space let ground plane work Radiation off of vertical
I know others have said this by you can't test it on the table like that. Best would be to test it at the coax before going into the radio. Nice setup though.
I did test it in the air as well, though probably not on camera.
Vor der Videoaufnahme hättest du ruhig mal aufräumen können 😂
Going to try one myself, I some guys mounting them closer to the ground? I'm going up 25 ft or so on a mast.
25 should work, but as always, more elevation will serve you better.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I would have at least expected you to mount the antenna in free space. Also the Diamond antennas are at Dc group potential. I wouldn't give a hill of beans on the data because it isn't mounted correctly. mine is flat from 144-147 and maybe 1.3 near 148.
