My Palace Programme - Crystal Palace National Sports Centre

As part of the Mayor of London’s commitment to creating meaningful social impact through the redevelopment of the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, Beyond the Box collaborated to launch the My Palace Programme. This initiative provides young Londoners with new opportunities, including paid employment, skills and leadership development, and network expansion.
The My Palace Programme aims to design and create inclusive and accessible spaces for sports, fitness, movement, and wellbeing at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. Through this project, a community of young sports leaders and aspiring designers and architects, known as equity designers, was formed.
Our sports leaders are dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in sports by organising and hosting various sessions at Crystal Palace.
Meanwhile, the equity designers observed these sessions, gathering valuable insights on user experiences, particularly regarding access and inclusion.
They consulted with participants, as well as their parents, siblings, and carers, to understand constraints and opportunities. Using this research, the equity designers developed innovative design solutions for the facilities at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre.
The project culminated in a presentation of their concepts and solutions to stakeholders and the wider project team at City Hall, London.
