    thank you for this. No one else provided the details nor explanation you did. I watched this multiple times and picked up on more each time. I literally manually pushed my lawn last night and it was tough. Realized later that the back bracket was too tight on belt. My belt was frayed and stretched. Got new belt today, replaced and now mower pulls me all over the lawn. 😅 Thank you for all you do and continue putting out great content.

    Which “wheel still spinning” are you talking about? The actual black wheel of the blade fly wheel?

      I was referring to the reel still spinning when not depressed if i understand your question.

    Had a question for you, or anyone really.
    I recently had to replace my belt because the other one shredded even though I just bought it back in May. I replaced the belt and went to use it today but it felt off. Seeing your video reminded me that I forgot to put that green arm back in the right spot that is there to guide the belt. I’m not sure if this is what made my mower self propel by itself as I engaged the level for the assisted propel of the mower but my mower was moving on its own and the blade was spinning. To stop it I had to disengage the propel level but the blades keep spinning despite not holding the handle to engage the blades. The mower did feel more powerful at the wheel and jolted forward more and it definitely took more force to stop the mower.
    Wondering if maybe it was just that green bar that guides the belt or if the clutch needs to be adjusted?
    Any ideas?

      The clutch arm and green back arm guide both have some adjustment. When replace with a new belt, even when set properly, the reel may still spin without the cable being pressed. This is normal as the new belt needs to be broken in. After a mow or 2 it should be good. If it still continues there after it may be set too tight causing the reel to spin when it’s not intended too. Hope this helps đŸ‘đŸ»

    Amazing video. At first I thought 30 min was wayy too long but it was perfectly explained. I still think the design is totally unnecessary and it shouldn’t need so much adjustment. CT customer service told me “the belt sacrifices itself for the good of the machine.” Like, what?? How about make a belt that’s not happy to pop lol

      I was actually very fortunate with my original belt as i showed in the video. As long as you pick up a good quality belt and set it properly it should last. I do appreciate the comment and support đŸ‘đŸ»

      @@dwaynesworldlawn I just can’t find the sweet spot. If I go higher, there’s almost no tension in the clutch engagement handle. If I go lower, even when I let go of the handle, the reel keeps spinning by itself

    • @dwaynesworldlawn
      @dwaynesworldlawn  Pƙed rokem

      @@InDatParish do you feel confident the belt stops can’t be adjusted more so then the clutch. If you get the clutch to a place where it feels good and is applying enough forward tension on the belt, i find that setting the belt stops just to the point where it clears the belt when depressed. Hope that help

    Hey Dwayne! So quick update - After putting in a few hours into the new mower it no longer is having the clutch issue where it would engage on its own. Knock on wood!

    • @dwaynesworldlawn
      @dwaynesworldlawn  Pƙed rokem

      I would say that pretty normal as the belt has broken in now and stretched slightly. Glad to hear that it’s working better then new. Lol. I appreciate the update and the comment đŸ‘đŸ»

    After changing my belt I cant get the belt to stop spinning. Usually first engagement then release it will stop but after a couple more it spins and belts gets chewed up by the stops. Any suggestions on what adjustments I should try?

    • @dwaynesworldlawn
      @dwaynesworldlawn  Pƙed 4 měsĂci +1

      This is normal somewhat and could go away after a mow or two when the bell breaks in. If it’s still and issue it’s a matter of adjusting either the front or rear belt stop. With the rear you want to have it set to where it just barely clears when the clutch is in engaged. I hope this helps and appreciate the support!!! đŸ‘đŸ»

    Hey Dewayne great content brother. Sounds like we got our Cal trimmers about the same time. So I just got out today to do a scalping and got half way through and hit a thick part and stopped the reel. Well when I went to engage the reel quit spinning. Do you have any content on this issue or any tips of what it could be? I ran out of daylight but I was kinda going through the manual troubleshooting. I have a fairly new belt and all the chains are spinning. Thanks in advance
    Btw I haven't checked the side chain that is covered. Had to stop for today.

    • @dwaynesworldlawn
      @dwaynesworldlawn  Pƙed 5 měsĂci

      Scalping is hard on the machine. A sharp blade helps but the mower can still bog down. Scalping will also dull the blade so afterwards it generally requires a sharpening or backlap to bring it back cutting paper. I would automatically jump to something is wrong when this happens and is normal for alot of reel mowers when scalping. Hope this helps đŸ‘đŸ»

      @dwaynesworldlawn thanks!! I figured out what happened. The drive chain on the side of the mower, the front gear that pull the chain is held to the shaft that turns the reel the Allen screw was loose. So the gear was just spinning on the shaft. You are correct about the scalp. I tried going too low my first pass. I'm trying to get the majority of the scalp done before I sharpen. I will then put a fresh edge to do my last cut for the scalp. Thanks again. Great content btw
