    Aircraft maintenance is a dangerous, stressful dirty job. You also get to work weekends and night shift. If you are lucky to get into the majors the pay is good. Layoffs are frequent. That is the reality. I have the faa a& p technician and the fcc certification. Worked as a flight line technician for 15 years. Loved it especially since I was taxi qualified.

      I agree w/what you said Frank. It's a lot different at an out station working midnights with no end in sight because of seniority. Expect a lot of weekend / night shift work. Summer / Christmas vacation non existent due to seniority. Get used to Tues / Wed off days. Things are a lot different than at a major hub. Very few have that smiling face at 330 AM after working on a lav / lube job / fuel tank or pulling panel in a cargo bay.

    Delta is easily the best airline, for employees and passengers. That being said, technicians get paid the most BUT because of this, there's very strong competition. Delta is incredibly hard to get into, at any of their maintenance bases. I heard you need to be referred by a current employee, or have a working family member in some areas.

    Hi, I am planning on enrolling myself for AME course in Centennial college.
    I have a quick question though.
    I have a red green color deficiency, which means I cannot clear category 1 medcials. The same reason why I cannot become a pilot.
    I know that in order to enroll on the AME course, medicals are not required and also medicals are also not required for the AME license as well.
    But I heard few people mentioning that if I have to be hired as a AME for Air Canada, I have to take the medicals.
    So, if you don't mind me asking, If to be hired by Air Canada as an AME will we be asked to take medicals.
    If yes, will color blind test taken in the medicals (the one with the color plates test - Ishara).
    Thank you in Advance.

    • @egamez1
      @egamez1 Před 3 lety +4

      SAT or GPA scores are irrelevant to get an FAA license. To be FAA certified as an aircraft mechanic, you need to pass 3 FAA exams: General exam, Airframe exam, Powerplant exam. After having passed all three written tests, then you have to pass the oral and practical exams administered by an FAA-designated mechanic examiner (DME). After completing all these exams, the FAA will issue your Airman Certificate (aka A & P license).

    Hi delta loved the video, thanks for all the info and close look into tech ops. Wanted to ask I am an experienced AMT currently a lead heavy check mechanic. I have about 10yrs line maintenance experience and about 3 1/2yrs heavy check on commercial jets greater than 12000 lbs. I am run taxi qualified on 4 different airframes, have been an inspector, had multiple special trainings such as NDT cert, boroscope qualified, BF Goodrich tungsten surface treatment training, RII qualified, performed parts recieving inspections, written repair orders, audited calibrated tooling program. Part of my line experience was daytime on call so I have experience with fast paced discrepancy resolution. I have also done on call for united mainline. I have a spotless record and I have a very professional resume with great references that include 1 from an FAA safety inspector. Also I have been internally referred. Despite all this I have recieved nothing but rejection letters for the numerous positions I have applied for at Delta. What am I missing that would qualify me to be part of the tech ops team? Thanks

    Unfortunately down here in South America, all system makes us captive because the chances u guys have up there is worthy far away the same opportunities we do have down here. No matter if you study maintenance here, at the beginning, our wage is r $ 1.500, which is around us 350,00 a month. Everything is possible, of course, but to get each FAA license , that the amount you have to pay for each. So, this propaganda is all for Americans. Thank you.

      Courses that teach for the license are not math and science heavy at all, so far i am halfway through my course before i am able to take the exam for my license and none of the classes are math or science heavy. If you know basic math like algebra you will do just fine

    99% of all mechanics are men but no, Delta has to show how progressive they are. They are simply virtue signalling by doing this video with a woman technician. It seems now that all companies, media, Hollywood etc have jumped on this bandwagon promoting women in all aspects of life. Telling them they are just as fast, strong and capable as men. They can do anything a man can do. Men are now portrayed as stupid, incompetent morons. Guys, are now shown in ads doing the laundry, sitting in the passenger seat while the wife drives, vacuuming, cooking dinner and looking after the kids. Is it any wonder marriage is at a all time low and divorce is at a all time high! Nobody is having kids, single family households are the norm and society seems to be coming apart at the seams. Who or what the hell is behind all this nonsense?

      "Ron M" I totally agree with you on the women part of society today. It seems all the commercials on TV, are showing only "empowered" women now (check it out if you don't believe me )... I believe it is a scheme to destroy the male/female relationship in America today and thus marriage also... and to push the homosexual and feminist agenda. They also show the men as weak, stupid, lazy and subservient to women. This was all prophesied in the Bible, especially in Revelation. The culprit for all this is the one and only Satan, who is behind all this... In God's world, men and women are pardners with different strengths and needs and should COMPLEMENT each other and work together to raise "God fearing" families....some good families still exist out there... but now we have the "MGTOW", and "MRA" movement taking over society now. The justice system and family courts are geared to take away all your hard worked earnings and your children and give them to your ex-wife. It is a losing game for all men.. and the list goes on and on. I could go on and on about this...I am not bitter, or angry, I am also a Christian with a wife and three beautiful girls ( All Grown up now) but I see the trend... It is not going to last though, Jesus Christ is coming back soon to take back His world that He Created....p.s Delta is the most racist Company I have ever known. I have been in their hangers several times...there are thousands of A & P white mechanics working on their airplanes, but ONE or TWO Black mechanics (in ATLANTA TO BOOT!)... the blacks are ALL regulated to the washing stands to wash seat covers and airplane parts...ALL their personnel dept. needs to get booted out of there. Especially the head director ..They are still fighting the CIVIL WAR in there... and the Confederate flag still flies high there....do you get my drift?...but this is the truth... I am also an A & P mechanic working with U.P.S. ...making a six- figure salary...It is a far better company than Delta..U.P.S. hire minority A & P mechanics.....Delta DO NOT! ....Look up, get ready, He is coming soon!

    • @jamdwn1946
      @jamdwn1946 Před 5 lety +1

      Just a big old lie for DELTA... I have known of many good qualified Minority (non white) Mechanics and Pilots who have applied for jobs at Delta but did not get in and are now working for other companies (like U.P.S.)... but the stories I have heard about their PERSONNEL DEPT and the Hiring Method they use ....remind me of those old Confederate Prison Camps during the last Civil War..
