- Hey y'all and welcome back to the channel! I hope you're having a great start to the week :) We found some cute items and some practical items dumpster diving at apartments today - the stone garden angle is precious and I am so happy it will be going to a new home instead of the landfill.

Scrub the bottom of the basket with a brush, lysol or the like to disinfect, rinse and sun dry. Even if stained I'll be clean. You can even paint the stain with a matching color. Good as new ❤
It may have had a house plant in it. Your idea will work great.
I would spray with Dawn power wash it will clean it
The whole basket can be sprayed after its washed and dried throughly!

I had a similar thought about painting the basket except maybe just paint the stained part after it's clean, then decorate the rest of the basket with whatever theme you like or leave it plain. Baskets are so nice and versatile to use for baby showers, bday or christmas.. They are also great for house warming when a friend moves I to a new place. You could even put a kit together with supplies to make the basket look great, then sell it for 35.00 or more to cover your cost for any supplies you might add. Have fun!
For the mildew on that basket, you can spray "Mold Armour " on the areas and it dissapears in 5 min!
Basket cleaning 101- scrub brush with a little all purpose cleaner then quickly rinse with warm water, shake out as much water place in sun to dry, you could also paint just that part of the basket a nice color.
The whole basket could be spray painted

Warm water and a gentle scrub with a brush should fix it up just right. I would also add a cap of bleach to get the black off of the inside bottom. Let it soak for an hour use a dish soap. Wicker likes water a bit it can shrink stretch wicker and help to stop breakage. That's a really cute basket. I'd also let it dry in the sun for an hour. I love your videos and anyone can clean just about anything. If its already ruined washing something will either fix it or ruin it completely. I've had good luck cleaning things that most people won't try to clean. Keep on tugging.
Use white vinegar to clean mold off that basket. Let it sit on there for a few minutes before wiping off. Vinegar is great for mold and lime build up and other cleaning things!
Vinegar is great for so many things, I clean mainly with vinegar in water. I used vinegar on the bedroom wall where there was mold, and it has not come back.
Love vinegar, drop it in the water for mopping inside/outside, the bathrooms and all the sinks in the house, also in the washing machine and give it a spin. It’s really good for everything.
Hello from the UK , just so you know cats love baskets, I have 3 cats , that also love boxes , and bags , love what you do.
With the basket, don't soak - you can use dish soap, a soft scrub brush and wash off thoroughly with water. Let dry thoroughly outside. However, if there is mold or the stains are stubborn, I've used oxyclean or diluted bleach, scrubbed with soft brush, wash off thoroughly with water, and let dry outside.

You stated, "the dumpsters do provide ". Yes they do. I went out dumpster diving yesterday. First time in a month. I found loads of stuff including, clothes, towels, sheets, slippers for me, a sock and a house for my monkey. I am pleased with it all. Most will get donated, some will sell, the rest is for me and my monkey Legend.
Yesterday I found two Sterilite drawer sets, a laundry hamper, and a small trash can at an apartment dumpster. I also found a cane in the middle of the street, which just needs tin snips and some red paint to be perfect. The retail stores' dumpsters were all locked because we have a problem with illegal dumping here.
I think the lighted case is to display a museum quality green vase!
Have you guys ever thought about street scrapping? People have collection days for household goods etc and quite often there are lots of things that could be sold on. Would need to check that it is legal in your area and as long as you keep pile neat should be ok. Just a thought.

Oh and yes the dumpsters do provide. It’s like Angels make sure things you need and want get left. It also happens at thrift stores and when your curb surfing. Every time I have needed or wanted something it would be there waiting for me. I have many amazing stories ( testimonies) about that. God really is so good. To wash the basket use warm water and lemon juice and stiff brush and dry out in the sun. If that doesn’t get out the stain the use warm water and dawn dish soap only on the bottom sun dry.
I've made many baskets by hand. Reed is soaked in water to make it pliable to allow it to be bent to construct the basket. Therefore, cleaning a basket is a simple matter. First brush it as clean as possible, failing that, wash it. If the color runs, then allow the color to change as evenly as possible, or bleach to remove the color completely. Bleach works to remove mildew and mold as well. To restore a finish to the basket clean up any rough places or splintered reed, then apply finish. I used walnut shells boiled to desired color and applied it as any other stain. Dry it well, stained or left plain.
The angel looks like the several that my Mom had throughout her house and garden. Angels are always a sweet find and I’m glad you guys rescued it. The clear tote with the side opening can be used as a travel litter box for cats! That’s what we use, keeps the litter more contained then an open litter box, can also be used for a dog crate for nighttime 😊
All that depends on how big it is. I maybe wrong but looking at it, it really doesn’t seem that big. I’ve bins similar to that w/the drop front and they’re shoe boxes. I keep all my high heels in the big one and my flats in the smaller. Keeps the dust away. Idk abt putting my fur babies in them.
Hose it down the bottom and leave it out in the sun to dry out or brush the bottom with clean brush . Love you two. I enjoy you videos always looking out for them.

Scrub the whole basket in a cleaning solution Air dry thoroughly, then you could spray paint it if not pleased with it!

There’s a product from back in the day called, “Murphy’s Oil Soap” used to clean wood. You could try some on that pretty basket. You two are always so upbeat no matter the size of the haul. 😁
They still make it lol we use it for cleaning our kitchen cabinets 😁..

I and my sister use to go dumpster diving and trash day we would go to the higher more pricy side of town and they would put stuff on the curb. We got some all wood furniture to redo and sell

Hi! Im fro the UK. It amazes me how much is not recycled in your State/Country. We have to separate (and wash) plastics, glass, metals, tetra pak and cardboards into sepatate bins. We use food waste caddies and a tall bin for the rest. We also have garden waste bins. If you dare to put the wrong items in your bins or dont recycle properly they wont take them away. Love youre trying to make a difference where you are.
I'm in Texas too and it just depends on the area. A lot of Texas DOES recycle. We do in our neighborhood and I'm outside of Houston.

All I found yesterday while diving and curbside hunting was some bubblewrap. Sometimes that happens. Bones will fight you over that feathered plant. LOL!
I needed to seen something fun. I broke my ankle today. I have psoriatic arthritis so my ankles are very damaged. I sprained my right ankle just suddenly. I was only walking in my house. So then I put my left foot down to catch my fall and my left ankle collapsed. And there I was on the floor. I’m Just in lots of pain. Still can’t believe it happened. One second i am fine the next I can’t walk. God is good he will help me get through this. Hoping to watch y’all having fun and get my mind off something besides what happened today and the pain. To clean a basket wipe over with a dry microfiber cloth then hover with curtain attachment, then use a damp microfiber cloth (mix water with white vinegar use a soft tooth brush or bottle brush for under edges) once dry run over with again with dry cloth then hover again then finish off wiping over with water and lemon juice.
Those feathers in that vase make a greatHalloween decor.

You can actually just wash the basket in the sink. They are washable with just soap and water. Keep up the videos, love you guys.
That basket is beautiful. It may have had a plant in it. Wash with the hose a a bush. I bet it will be awesome.
I liked the chair...perfect for the kitchen to perch on while monitoring the stove or chopping veg.
cleaning the basket, spray non bleach cleaner on it, scrub it in with a brush or sponge and spray down with hose or even rince in sink :)

I used baking soda made into a paste...put on thickly(after washing basket)leave for a few days ...wash off...worked for me...

They have big yard sales I believe every year! They recently had one and sold $6??.00 worth. Her prices were so so cheap. They wanted to get rid to make room in the garage.

The box with a door on the side can be a litter box hide a way for Bones. Just put his litter box in it for extra privacy. It is see through but you can cover it with pretty paper, shelf liner, etc. The white plastic tub you called it a wash thing is a baby bathtub. No insert needed. Some cool finds!

i use soda, the powdered stuff, and water but not a lot. it soaks up the smell of mold, for baskets. also water and some vinegar, which kills the mold pretty well, and the basket will be nice. if it bleaches out, use coffee water to dye it back and let it dry in the sun.

to clean that basket, first submerse it in a light bleach and water mixture and scrub it w/ a brush, rinse it a couple of times then soak it in some white vinegar and water for a few minutes. that will counter-act the bleach. bleach and vinegar are opposites and vinegar wont hurt the basket. a soak once in a while is good for a basket. as long as it dries out pretty quickly.
ps, you can use foaming bathroom cleaner instead of bleach too. just scrub before rinsing and treat again after rinsing to kill anything that might rot the basket fibers.

Set the basket in bleach water and dawn dish soap let soak a hour or two scrub with a brush.
If it doesn't come complete clean paint the bottom with kilz to seal then any color paint you want make sure you tape off for clean lines!
Will bleach rot the wood?
@@pegs1659 if you let it set for days yes but a couple of hours no. Bleach kills mold but to be sure kilz will seal the mold in with no air so it will not spread.

Maybe try letting the basket sit in bicarbonate of soda underneath it and on the dirty patch too for a few minutes n then using a medium to stiff brush brush on both sides then vacuum it off ?? Will help with any possible odour too. Add a little essential oil to the bicarbonate too Worth a go as it’s beautiful and looks quite expensive. Those goggles look like they’re Steampunk too
