Nice just to hear George talk. We all know how well he could perform, but just to hear him talk is nice. Sad loss to us all. x
I could listen to George talk all day long. RIP big man. Hope you and Frank are having some good times wherever you are now...
george is pure class he has a great way with his banter could tell you lots of stories in a way only he can!
I wish I had George's voice on my satnav. I don't think I'd ever get stressed while driving again.
Zappa was my introduction to the GREAT George Duke. I bought the albums he did in the mid to late 70s for MPS; FEEL, is the only one I can recall offhand. FANTASTIC recordings; with Alphonso Johnson and Ndugu Chancelor. I LOVE THE BLUES had an INCREDIBLE lineup. In the later 70s when he was going for a more mainstream audience, I was a bit let-down....he....and others....like Herbie Hancock....had spent years receiving great "critical acclaim" but little financial reward. George seemed better able to balance the commercial and critical elements. There were gems and great musical elements even on his most commercial recordings. AND, his grace and humor shone through everything. Thank you George.....RIP
Jazz is not dead ;It just smells funny!
oh man. can't believe this was 2009. i hope your next 4 years were great to you George. you were awesome, and a great cat.

Great to hear Mr. Duke speak, thanks!
George Duke ........the greatest!!
Great stories! Miss you George.
Funny, I saw the grandmothers a year or so ago (Rochester, NY). Stuck around after the show for the meet and great and chatted with Don Preston and Napoleon. My friend asked Napoleon how he stayed so young. Napoleon went off on a whole dissertation about juicing. So, it doesn't surprise me that George was drinking Nappy's "elixir".
twinsmm1 i was at a tiny zappa tribute-gig here in germany.i thought there´s a coverband playing.i stood next napoleon and did´nt realize the guy standing next to me at that bar, until he went on stage, preparing his sax.
crazy to imagine him being in my hometown, R.I.P
The late great George Duke
R.I.P., musical companion of my best years!
Miss you George!
true great an inspiration
wow, thanks for upload! :-) i like George and miss him too! hope he has a good time on another planet ;-)
Best band Frank had was the 73-75 band in my opinion. I love the early (real) Mothers but this band was insane!
Smell my beard!
umbelievable musician , funny, charismatic, inteligent genius ........ (sorry i cant spell george). but i am creative !!!!!
I can't believe he's dead. WHY DOES ALL GOOD MUSICIANS DIE? I'm scared of becoming a good musician.
Everybody dies, decorating the mental space around you with beautiful music I believe is one of the most important things a person could do for humanity.
How can you not love George Duke?! Beautiful man!
