  • Increase the audio quality and clarity of your stream by using a noise gate audio filter correctly.
Having clean and clear audio is key for growth on live streaming platforms like Twitch, CZcams Gaming and Facebook Gaming. One of the best ways to achieve clean audio is to eliminate all the background noise ruining your live stream. In this video, I show you the best way to use a noise gate audio filter so your audio will be more rich and effective. This video will work for broadcasting softwares like: OBS, SLOBS, Xsplit & Streamyard.

My recommendation for Maono XLR AU-03 is:
Close Threshold: same as in video
Open Threshold: same as in video
Attack Time: same as in video (+/-5~10, but depends, don't recommend to go under 10ms)
Hold Time: 66ms (+/-10ms, but depends)
Release Time: 50ms (+/-5ms, but depends)
Also add a Limiter and set it until you will hear your microphone clearly in your test recordings.
I can hear only my noisy mechanical keyboard which is normal even in mechanical keyboards with silent switches, also if you're able - put your microphone as far as possible from your mouse cause it will prevent catching too much of clicking noise, it still will be audible but there's not much you can do because of specification of this particular microphone.

anyway - if someone is using REAPER v6.4x/6.5x software I recommend to set :
Attack Time: 25ms (+/-5, depends on REAPER settings)
Hold Time: 100ms (+/-10ms, depends on REAPER settings)
Release Time: 75ms (+/-5ms, depends on REAPER settings)
As I will always say - don't strictly follow the guides, search for your best personalized settings and do an experimentation with various configurations.

You didn't say "Hey guys, it's Wild coming at you!" and it honestly has me kind of shook.

Thanks for the tutorial. If I set the filter, is it set when I e.g. wanna zoom or just when broadcasting twitch?

If you are using a noise gate with your mic it should work across any platforms you use that mic for. Provided they allow audio filters. Thanks for watching!

I have my Gaming PC into my audio interface, and the mic. Which means what OBS gets on streaming PC is the Mix of Mic/Music/Discord/etc. So I can't clean them individually. If I put a noise gate into my mic, doesn't matter, cuz it's gonna grab gaming sound, and the mic will still be making those fan noises in the back. When the game, music and discord are silent, then the noise gate activates. Then Music goes on, or gaming goes on, and without even talking, there we go fan agains.

Hopefully you still see new comments for this video... 😅
My voice ranges from fairly deep when I'm just talking, to very high pitched when I'm laughing, and my laughs get cut out A LOT. Is there any way to fix this so that my entire vocal range can be heard, but still keeping background noises at bay?
