I bought this for 20+ years, when some salesman came into my high school, almost identical machine, red color for a couple of bucks. At first, I always ended up didn't stitch, sew it properly. I thought that salesman sold me a fake one. I keep it in my closet. Then I finally decided to try to use it back like literally a few mins ago on my bed sheet cover after I stumbled on your video and follow your instructions, it totally works. I couldn't believe it. Thanks a lot. Some faith on humanity restored 😂👍😎

As someone who has spent a lot of time sewing, I would recommend removing what you have been sewing first pulling out a good length of thread and then trimming it below the needle so that you can use a long tail to do a Stay Stitch so that it will not come undone.

ATTENTION PLEASEEEE. I encountered two possible problems that may be happening to you, this is my first time coming near a sewing machine so please bare with me.
    1. The thread MUST go inside the needle (there is a little hole at the end), she didn't show this in the video. (Yeah I know it's probably common sense).
    2. The thread must pass through FROM the inside to the outside. If you pass the thread from the outside to the inside the sewing machine will be "feed" in the opposite direction and the force you are applying to it will cause the thread to NOT be sewed and therefore it will only make holes. It may also TRY to sew but it will unravel.
Thank you for the video btw :) nice music too.

I just got this machine. This video is incredibly helpful! The trick is to cut the string *before* removing it from the machine so that the thread can be pulled through the bottom loop since there's no bottom bobbin.

To everyone saying they cant keep the thread from coming out of the fabric, take the plastic casing off and watch the gears move. There is a hook underneath where the needle jabs in. The string has to catch on that hook. From there you can determine how to properly hold onto the string

for future me and anyone interested, single thread sewing machine are usually employing the "chain stitch" mechanism, which only 1 thread is required. The needle would push the new thread pass a loop that was formed by the previous stitch.

There are actually a variety of particulars like that to take into consideration. That is a great level to bring up. I provide the ideas above as normal inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you deliver up where a very powerful factor will likely be working in sincere good faith. I don?t know if greatest practices have emerged around things like that, but I am sure that your job is clearly recognized as a fair game. Each boys and girls really feel the influence of just a moment’s pleasure, for the remainder of their lives.

  • @puffysalmander

This thing actually works. At the beginning the threads always loosen after I put holes in it, but that was because I was doing it wrong. What I was doing wrong was moving the bottom part of the mechanism. The string won't get loose if you don't move the bottom part and just keep hitting the spring.

Just guessing, for those many unable to get the right performance, experimenting in thread routing may help. Some of them might be cheap clones of the real product. Some might need ajustment of mechanisms, or contain a faulty part or two. Sometimes a bit of lubrication makes an improvement. Mine came inside a used sailboat and is slightly different, white in color, has 'Singer' on one side, and is good quality. And it works well, but will take practice. Thanks for this video, it helped me get started.

So many people in the comments say "thread it from the inside to the outside" without any context other than that so many people still don't understand. But you have to make sure the needle is positioned so that the hole is facing the interior where the large spring is, and thread it into the needle from that direction.

The normal sewing machine have two spools of thread. One above and one below. The above one punch through and create a loop under the fabric. The spool below put a thread through this loop and hold the sewing in place, preventing it from unravel.

OK guys it never worked for me just watching the video.. I watched this video like 5times but still never figured how to thread the needle... I figured it out by reading your comments... thanks... you need to thread from the inside and the extra thread that comes out of the needle should go to the same direction the stitch goes.. so if you stitching from left to right it should be on the right side... and vise versa... at the end of the stitch just make multiple of stitches at the same place your last stitch ends.. I hope this helps...

@cleo candy I've tried it your way but my thread isn't catching underneath the fabric!! So the thread goes through the material, but just leaves a loop behind and does the same again. There's nothing catching and threading through the loop under the fabric to create the actualy stitch, so when I remove the fabric, the stitching just comes undone!!

But are those smaller mends as good and strong as the mends made by a proper sewing machine ? I hope they don't come off easily if we wash the cloth or if there is regular wear and tear.

Could it be used to make doll(like barbie dolls) dresses? I have a sewing machine at home but I don't know how to use it :( and also it's big!
