I remember SYPTE bendibuses coming to Oxford in winter as replacements fo VR's on the 520 (Oxford CC-Blackbird Leys) route in the 80's... Fun for an 11 year old, but impractical on Bitish routes - and from what I can remember drivers saying, a pain for them!

I don't believe it! How start that early like this bus coming up? I was guess is looks like a bendy bus! Now this year new bendy buses in the future, that will see this is type of very different buses isn't. Awesome!

I worked for SYPTE as a conductor and a driver at East Bank Road Garage in the late 70's and 80's and remember all of these. I conducted and drove the Ailsas. They were phenomenal. Talk about shift. The bendibuses operated on the City Clipper route around the city centre. We did not take fares as legislation at the time wouldn't allow. The buses were always packed. Sheffield went through a period of having substantial amount of buses on loan from other operators. They were great days.

I am priveleged to have driven a MK2 National with Volvo B10 engine while at Omnibus, that was a monster of a bus, happy days.
It made a change from driving the Atlanteans with gears missing!!
