    I've probably watched 50 of these boot building videos and I'm always surprised how amazing they turn out at the end. Nicks has some real craftsmen.

      I think since they made the gogo boot. They should make a goth logger. Like.. all that metal hardware really fits the aesthetic.. so now just make it like 14 inches tall and maybe add some straps

    *They are historical! 😊 Price starts at $350 for rebuilds. So I think it was worth it. If people can't afford it, that's ok. For those that can, go for it! New boots are more expensive than the rebuild anyway. Plus the boots are already broken in well. Anyway, they look awesome! 😎 Getting rebuilds is valid and its totally ok to have done. It saves the boots from being thrown away. I loved seeing the process and how they look by the end! Amazing work Nicks Boots!!*

    The quality of the rebuild is undeniably good, but I really think a bit of history was lost here. The leather on upper/vamp area looked really good. I think a good cleaning, maybe sanding and conditioning would have been all they needed.
    A new foot bed, midsole and outsole were a must, a historically accurate resole would have been so much better than the modern resole.
    I understand that a historically faithful boot may not be as functional in the woods, but that's when I think you should just buy new boots. Oh well. Cheers

    Why tear off the tread if you only use the upper. Couldn’t you just cut the upper off like you do anyway. I am guessing it’s for the camera??

    • @bc2316
      @bc2316 Před 3 měsíci

      The backstay over laps the upper and vamp. In order to get the upper free of the vamp the backstay comes off, which wraps under the midsole. So to not risk destroying parts of the upper they take everything apart in reverse order.

    No corks? Hd urban loggers.

    • @JinsKookieJams
      @JinsKookieJams Před 3 měsíci +1

      *6:33** Sometimes instead of cork, companies will use a special kind of felt called roofer's felt to fill in the void there. It's more waterproof and will never squeak against the leather. So it's a bit more durable than the cork. The roofing felt has been mixed with tar, which waterproofs it. You buy it from builder suppliers.*

    • @dangriesemer3710
      @dangriesemer3710 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @JinsKookieJams By "Corks" I was referring to the metal spikes on the soles. My dad was a logger that fell trees for a living since the fifties wearing "corks". That's what the old timers called them anyway. There isn't as much need for them anymore with operators running machines, to much support for golfing.

    • @kinkmyknob

      @@dangriesemer3710bet your dad was a beast. All them old fallers were. There are still a few of us rigging guys and fallers still lacing em up everyday, and that's what they're called, corks.

    Anyone else notice the shank was missing the arch? On a high heeled boot i thought it always had the extra piece of leather under the shank cover?

    I cant wait to buy a pair. I'm thinking within a month I will have enough saved up to splurge on a great pair of boots.

      @averyj.steele1074 Před 3 měsíci +1

      Sometimes what I'll do is save up half the amount, finance the boots, make the first three payments right away. Now you can have them easily paid off by the time you get them. You could do that without the first three payments honestly, given the lead times.

      Get over it. Plenty of channels do this. Not everyone has been watching as long as you have, the nature of CZcams is that new faces are always showing up. People have better things to do than keep track of Nicks videos. Get a grip on a life outside of CZcams.
