Arctic Circle Rescue & Recovery!

- An overland expedition into the Arctic Circle during the Winter isn't a walk in the park, and it comes with a lot of inherent obstacles that need to be considered (especially when preparing for the journey). Fuel range and fuel availability, potential road closures, adverse road conditions and visibility, and of course the brutal cold.
In a large group consisting of our Bronco Raptor, several Jeep Gladiators, a Jeep Wrangler, and others - we were about as prepared for this Arctic Circle Experience and the trials we knew we could potentially face as anyone could be. Including the possibility of a serious snow recovery.

Mud tires and ice don't mix. I'm glad everyone is okay.
That Rubicon coming out in as good condition as it did speaks well for Jeep.
The best time to go off the road is when you are with experienced wheelers who are equipped to deal with this exact emergency. Great job guys glad everyone is ok.
At least the heater wasn't damaged. 😮
@@John-uo1qf Wasn't the driver window smashed? As in gone?
Props to Kevin for driving, always willing! Awesome recovery! Grateful all are safe! In this situation or ANY when someone’s behind the wheel being winched or winching , if there’s ANY steel lines or chain, prop the hood up incase a line snaps. Had a horrific accident here where a snapped winch cable decapitated a father who was winching a stuck vehicle out. Prop the hood up lay it against the windshield as jeeps do , you can even snap it to the windshield. It’s such a simple safety thst no one ever does and too many have passed away from not. A jacket on the middle of the line doesn’t always protect either.
OH MY GOD!!! SOOO JEALOUS THAT YOU GET TO SEE THE DOG SLED RACE... AMAZING TRIP!!
Honestly, not knocking Nitto, but they dont make a good tire for the conditions you guys were on. Most of these rigs are running aggressive MT's or trail graps, which dont stand a chance against the compact snow/ice that remains on these highways for 60% of the year. The EXO Grappler is the correct tire in their line, but it is not good compared to other choices like the Falken At3W or the good old duratrac. I've had every tire under the sun under our company trucks that run these roads year after year for 100's of thousands of KM. Without fail we always return back to running Goodyear Duratracs. We've got 80-100 trucks here at our mine site, and 75% of them are running the goodyear duratrac. Good in the summer, awesome in the winter, and durable as all hell for the abuse of mine roads.
I wish they made 37 inch and 40 inch options for the duratrac
@@richardcoombes5292 that is a downside. However we have found the Toyo AT3 to be reasonable alternative.
What you think about the good old BFG K02
@@cameronyoung6402 lots of people swear by them. We've never had good luck with them. They are great when new but age poorly as the compound deeper in the tread is extremely hard. I think that's why a lot of people love them because when new they are really good, but if you really put the miles on them when they get down to 50% tread life they become terrible.
Unfortunately Duratracs have notoriously weak 2ply sidewalls. So for rock crawling they are not a great choice. As durable winter tire they are good. The Kanati Trail Hog has a similar tread pattern and a 3ply sidewall.
"it was a 3/4 roll" so they helped complete it with the winch! Full roll!!! Glad everyone was ok. You guys rock.
Key points of this video. 1. Being prepared and traveling in groups. Check 2. Knowing how to stay calm and handle a jeep. Check. 3. Jeeps are obviously well built. Check. 4. Why was that guy in the black car.....in a non 4 wheel drive car / jeep / truck / suv, on icy roads in the Artic circle. 4. Scenery is absolutely fantastic.
The NY plate was really out of place there.
I heard us territories!!! 🔥 guam 🇬🇺 USA is where America day begins!! Badass mud trailing!!! I'm sure the chelu's of guahan will throw you a party!!! 🔥
Kevin & Britt still RockStars in my book!! The caring and respect and thoughtfullness for other Jeeper's is always so amazing and the willingness to assist and help is constant.
Wow, and OUCH! Ice no wanna play! But look how that Jeep held up to the ride and roll! Occupants protected well also. After all, don't all Jeeps have a cracked windshield?! Hats Off to the BRaptor! Looks like its doing magnificently well. I got shivers just watching this one. Raised in SoCal has me spoiled for sunshine and no snow. I love a good running gag! Good luck coming back through the California rain and snows! LiteBriteNationRollsWithIt!
Amazing recovery, big shout out to Factor 55 and Justin for hooking you guys up with amazing gear that minimized damage to the tree/vehicle and potential injury to those involved.
Hi! I was a winter driving instructor for Eielson AFB 86-90, here’s a serious 2 driving tip when driving.
1: hand position on the wheel left hand is at 9 o’clock and the right at 3 o’clock do not remove your hands from these places on the wheel if you do you’ll oversteer.
2: Emergency braking.
Immediately Pop the transmission into neutral, this will disconnect the power from the engine to the drive wheels. As your going into neutral apply gradual brake.
DO NOT apply to much brake you’ll either go into a skid losing control or the ABS will kick in now you don’t have control.
I hope this helps, it’s a game changer bowing just these two tips.
One more, you maybe overinflated in the tire department.
I think my heart and nerves are returning to normal now.
Clay 🤙
Good advertisement for that roof rack. It held up and was used to help the recovery. Glad everyone was OK. 🙂
Stay Safe you beautiful people love love loving This journey, Thanks for taking Us along with You..
Love from The Land Down Under 😘 😘 😘 😘
These past 3 videos have been epic. You guys rock. I have always loved Jeeps but that teamwork and recovery and the fact that it got back out on the road in those conditions is a testament to Jeep. What a trip of a lifetime . I want you on my team apocalypse. Who needs fire and rescue with you guys around. You’re all so calm as the rig flipped over into a snowy ditch. Unbelievable. Tip of the cap to you guys and that team.
I’m proud of you guys for stopping and helping the other motorists along the way, here in the north the code is to always help cause communication is limited and in the cold leaving someone behind can be a death sentence. Everyone hits the ditch sooner or later, slower is better. Well done you two, hope you enjoyed it. There’s lots more fun stuff in summer 😉
Good morning guys be safe !!!
Shout out to the gentleman in command of the recovery! On point. Clear who he was talking to, and calling stops to hear out concerns fully. Also props to Kev and Britt, for stepping up their adulting and organization so that the recovery bag was accessible and ready to go! And props to me for saving all that time by shortening Kevin and Brittany’s name. Of course negated by the previous sequential statements……😅
Not surprised that happened. All terrain are the wrong tires for a trip like that. Pure studded winter tires should have been the only choice for a trip like that.
Whoa! Props for everyone keeping their cool and handling the roll the way they did to get the jeep back rubber side down fast, and back on the road. This adventure has been epic to watch up to this point! Thank you for taking us along! It's cool to see you guys use the radios to relay about oncoming traffic and passing cars while in the white out conditions. That's the same concept we use in Baja when caravanning!
Y'all have been to all 50 states?! That's seriously amazing! Congrats!!
I'm a retired Fed Ex Driver who had an extended or country route driving 300 miles daily for 12 years. Had a rear wheel drive Chevy Box van on a route that was dominated gravel roads like Lite Brite endured on this epic 8,000 mile journey! No chemicals were deployed, a grader bladed to remove loose snow days later, the end game was a hockey rink! I feel your pain and angst, the bigger the challenge, the larger the euphoria at the finish line!!!
The best time to do that drive is in the winter, it’s truly an amazing drive in the most beautiful part of the world. Drove from Anchorage to Tampa in 1992 with the wife and a 2 year old with the final destination of Tucson after, what a trip and adventure. Keep up the great videos, looking forward to your experiences.
Man I'm glad everyone was OK
You better get some stellar video of the northern lights.
Awesome video awesome music I can't stop listening to it now thank you
I just drove 2300 miles during 1 week on highways and I am exhausted. Cant Imagine how tough it is to do what you all did.
This journey has been fantastic 👍👊🇦🇺🥰
My son and his family (4) live in Skagway, AK. I hope you got to enjoy some Aurora Borealis sightings. We are going up the end of April. Canadian Customs going to White Horse is always very thorough.... Thanks for sharing the Adventure.
Another great adventure! Can't wait to see the rest
Wow, you guys are brave doing that without studded tires. Glad everybody’s OK.
I’ve been to Alaska in the summer but I really want to go to Alaska in the winter.
Have a safe trip home PBJ miss you
Harsh and brutal environment but unbelievably beautiful! That trip truly deserve to be called epic
I think that I'm Finally caught up on this Adventure!
Great Recovery, Glad everyone is Ok,and Happy Trails!😊🇺🇸🥂
Thanks for sharing such an epic adventure with us! That was an awesome display of a teamwork recovery of the Jeep! Glad everyone was ok! Safe travels home! Adventure on!
Soft snow saved from even worse damage
This the reason we have studded winter tires in canada. I'd never drive my trail graps in the winter. Good recceipe for a disaster. As you said thats probably the best worst case, but that could've been avoided.
Fantastic Arctic series. As a Canadian you are motivating me to see my country’s north although maybe in August in my Bronco. I would make you both honorary Canadians but you will have to learn to say Tuktoyaktuk!
Pronounced tuck toy act uck
Awesome series so far!!
Yall are HILARIOUS! "What not to do" I'm DYIN OVAH HEYA!
Very COOL trip, but I’m so distracted by those sunglasses.😎
Brittany - This is the most exciting journey ever and Kevin's driving is spectacular!
"Can't park there!" Joke never grows old😅
Fantastic. You guys always make it feel like we are there with you. It's the little things that make it real. If I was on a trip like that I would certainly feel secure knowing you guys were in the group.
Loving this series of videos! I’m looking forward for the upcoming 3500 mile adventure! Please stay safe and make it home!!
I'm glad everyone was ok. If I'm not mistaken, the replica bus is at the 49th state Brewery in Healy.
Hey kids...! What an amazing adventure you're taking us on. Thanks! As always..., safety in numbers hold true huh...? Glad everybody pitched in to help get that Jeep back on the road & LB bailing out the New York idiot in a front wheel drive car; in Alaska of all places! You know, be careful & safe out there on your way home. Love you guys..., America First!
Just 1 musher and their team takes the trail to Nome. What you saw in Anchorage was a tag sled (2nd sled) with another musher and another set of brakes to help slow the team as they travel through Anchorage for the Ceremonial Start of the Iditarod. Also, a fan that won an auction is riding in the sled bag of the first sled. It’s just a fun day to eat hot dogs and drink beer provided by the trailgaters and interact with the public and media. The start of the race is the following day. Thanks for showcasing our state sport (briefly)!
Truly a testimony to being properly equipped when being offroad. Well done....
And not doing crazy stuff alone.
My wife saw you guys at the Santa Clause House in North Pole. She mentioned it to me when she got home. Now watching this video, it was you guys 😂
😁🤙
We just got back from a trip to Wiseman and Atigun pass. The actual bus 142 is at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks. The James Dalton Highway was a wild ride.
This has got to be the coolest trek you guys have taken.
Also the coldest
Wasn’t that the same jeep that almost wiped out on the way there? They should play the lottery. Great job all. Beautiful trip!
Honda guy got so lucky to run into you guys!
Thank you for taking us along with you on this incredible trip!
Loving this entire adventure, glad everyone was ok from that rollover!!😃
OMG this is so beautiful!!! I love seeing the map. You guys are so humbling and such a big inspiration. Much love ❤❤💯🤙
Молодцы , интересные приключения 👍
Thank you LBN for sharing this adventure with us! The scenery is beautiful but it's way to cold for me to make this trip in Winter! I have to say (shout out to the road crews out there keeping the roads open during Winter!) I can't wait for the next part (the journey home) Happy Trails to you both!
Scary situation! Great to see how you all worked together and used your experience to make that recovery!
Glad everyone is ok! Great video! Stay warm
What a great video!
WOW, I'm glad everyone is ok. You guys did great getting the jeep back up to the road and loved how everyone worked together
What a great adventure! Thank you for bringing us along and sharing. Experience of a life time.
Now for “The Grumpy Old Man” comment. I can’t imagine doing that trip without Winter Studded Snow tires. Having just returned from Iceland, rental Rubicon with Studded Winter tires. Game changer. Rolled Jeep, guy driving faster than conditions warrant! Rookie mistake. Put that in the same category as the SF Bay Area idiots driving to Tahoe in 4 wheel drives too fast. I’ve seen many on their lid in the years driving/skiing to Tahoe. Thankfully, nobody hurt. End of rant.
Again, great trip! Envious and wish I was there.
Such beautiful landscaping even though its a little bit sketchy to drive in.
No problem!!! Good job!
You guys are living the/my dream.. ugh.. so glad no one was hurt on the roll over. cheers.
So nice to watch this adveture! BUT!! GET WINTERTIRES W STUDS! In my country, Sweden 🇸🇪, its a must in wintertime. I have studs in my wintertires and its a gamechanger in 37s! ❤
Great videos guys. BUT you gotta cool it with the "you can't park there." Can't wait for the next chapter 🛷
Glad they were ok. Rule number one, always make sure there is a Ram in the group 😁
Could start a drinking game for everytime Brit says”sir you can’t park here”
Get lit!! 🍻
It's great to see that you stop to help people. Up north it's a must do! Anyone can have a problem. And stopping to help is life or death. Be safe and enjoy your adventure!
Majestic!!
I work at the Port in Tacoma and we just received these cool Nitto rigs in. Kinda cool to see this video of them in the attic circle and drive them off the carriers and set them up here to be picked. Definitely set up for getting out there!
That’s rad!! 🤙
I know that feeling. I grew up in the U.P. of Michigan. Driving down roads without knowing what is coming at you and what the lanes really are is very common. i am certain this is the same with most Northern states in the winter. It is what I would call "white knuckle" driving.
I live in Fairbanks !!! Great series. Love the content
Thanks for bringing us back to the Arctic Circle! I was up on the DEW line as part of a civilian contact with the USAF. I rode around in the back of a First Air HS-748. So nice to see that again. I never made it south to Anchorage.
Epic weather and great views! Thank you for sharing.
Some stunning scenery on your journey I sincerely hope you guys come home through Jasper to Banff you won't regret it if you do
So happy to see you guys never said anything about that guy being fwd and shouldn't be out there etc etc.
You guys just got in and helped them get back out onto the road with only positive vibes so good to see!!
Rolling over on 4 feet of snow was pure luck but pointing in the right direction was a stroke of genius.
Seems like an awesome trip. The scenery looks amazing. When you guys were at the North Pole you should have taken the Jeep that rolled over to Santa’s workshop and let some elves have at it. I wonder if they could do as good as Chris and Beck? Glad nobody got hurt!!
I Follow Britney and Kevin...Houston Girl...and A Veteran Who CAN...Really Proud of Ya'll.!!! Please Proceed. God Bless
Another great video! The scenery is unbelievable. Thanks for bringing us on your journey!
Hey, loved this series. May I make suggestion, though you probably already have it in the works. Please do a post mortem and go into specific detail about seat comfort, leg room, etc. on a long trip, noise levels. I wondered why while in the vehicle you kept your coats in. Was the climate control not up to snuff? I know during an ice storm near Montreal the defroster on my then Gen2 Raptor didn’t do well on windshield. Also, why did you not have off road lighting? TYVM for great content. And love the glasses, Kevin.
That flipped 4Runner is one of the reasons why I am looking to buy a Gladiator or Bronco instead of another Toyota. I've seen the cabins on Toyotas get absolutely smushed during rollovers
Amazing... thank you 🥰🥰
You guys always deliver the best in niche entertainment. God bless and safe travels.
I also just hit my 50th state! Alaska was my 49 and Hawaii in Nov was my 50th! (38yrs old) Not many people have done it!
Sick video and trip! I did that trip back in 2019 and can’t wait to go back.
Wow! Such great scenery!
So glad you guys made it to AK. It was great seeing my state on the episode.
Looked like a wild
ride for the white JL that went over the bank.
Not a place to leave your Jeep behind! Looking forward to the ride home episode.
Kevin I want your sunglasses!
These videos are awesome!!! Thanks guys!!
An epic trip!! Thanks for sharing!!!
So Cool, thanks for bringing us along!!
Trip of a lifetime….bucket list!!!
You are correct, I bet not 10 percent f Americans have been to all 50 states. I am retired military and I have been to all 50 states and eight different countries. What a grand thing to see the world!
Thank God everyone was OK! Awesome job everyone great recovery! Love the videos!
We are very glad to see that those in the Jeep are okay and had all necessary emergency gear! If the Nitto crew needs anything, let us know!!!
