But it’s people who refuse to listen to music that came out after 1988 that ruin music, not young, spouting musicians, like myself.

@@thatgamerdude.3519 are you fkn kidding me? Bro you spend to much time on an online world. I’m a huge fan of Polyphia ,I love them and think Tim is an amazing and innovative guitarist. But people only know him basically if you’re a guitarist that pays attention to TikTok/CZcams guitarists. If you went to a shopping mall right now and asked the average person who they are most people wouldn’t have a clue . If you asked a Harry styles Ed Sheeran Taylor Swift Ariana Grande fan they would have no idea what you’re talking about . Polyphia their songs on not played on mainstream pop radio.
They do not sell out stadiums on their own ,they play in the afternoon w a bunch of other bands at a festival that sells out .
Van Halen was a cultural phenomenon, they were referenced in so many huge movies part of our culture,Eddie is a celebrity he was also married to a tv star and was in the tabloids .
Their songs were and are huge hits globally and known for generations to come . Kids are learning Halen songs like decades after the fact .
No one will remember Polyphia songs in a couple years.
No one hardly knows their songs .
When Halen came out rock bands weren’t being signed at the time by record labels they only wanted new wave music ,Van Halen saved Rock and opened the doors for motley Crue and all the 80s rock up until Guns N’ Roses .
When eruption came out it was like the 10 Commandments after Hendrix, it was like the Big Bang !!!
A seismic shift of guitar, more people were influenced to pick up a guitar probably than ever in history.
Almost every guitarist tried to imitate him.
He was in every magazine, there was tons of posters. He’s on The biggest selling album of all time thriller by Michael Jackson he plays on beat it.
That’s like if Tim was on a harry styles song ,but Harry sells a shit Tom of music but none of it made history.
Van Halen had catchy songs that are still being played generation after generation.
Them and AC/DC and Metallica didn’t need other bands to sell out a stadium.
Polyphia is lucky if they still out the Brooklyn bowl.
Van Halen singer was a rock god that guys envied a girls want to sleep with, Who had his own solo videos all over MTV.
Even Van Halen’s logo T-shirt and necklaces are bigger the Polyphia alone.
      Let’s get real dude .
Polyphia is for online guitarist and gamers Van Halen is part of history beyond music.
When Eddie died CNN were talking about it and they were interviewed by people like Oprah
It’s not even close dude and I love Polyphia ,only my guitar friends barely know who they are . They are far from mainstream.

He was not just rock player at all. He played SWING and R n B he had so many hats when came to rhythm. And Blues of course. But Bottoms Up is All Swing! He would almost have been able to play with those swing time groups of the 1930's and 40's. Maybe growing up with his father being a Clarinet player in those bands had an effect?

You don’t really hear anyone talking about Eddie’s backing vocals when sized up along Michael Anthony’s stellar harmonies, but here in this particular live recording and these particular songs you can hear just how good Eddie’s voice was, even especially after playing the rhythm guitar during these songs at the same time.
Both Michael and Ed’s harmonies were some of the best during their heyday for sure.

Saw them on this 1979 tour (Rainbow Theatre in London). Still remember David coming on stage & flouncing around looking more girlie than the girls in our crowd (we were all NWOBHM - jeans, T-shirt & leather jacket). We all burst out laughing. I guess we just weren't ready for that Cali look. Great show though. The support band was fantastic (St. Paradise - ex members of Ted Nugent & Montrose). Went out & bought their LP.

Man those guys were electric in those days....before Dave's ego consumed him. Saw this tour in Virginia and Alex;s drumming was a lot of fun to watch, his youthful drumming had more improv than later years. All three of the front men had polished off a bottle of Jack Daniels EACH by the end of the show.
