The difference between this and the Batman-Kira case is that the Joker isn't really doing anything to prevent L from figuring out his real identity. This is less of a "L vs Joker" and more L being curious about something. Learning his identity isn't really all that relevant to stopping him from doing crimes. Imagine L going "I finally know who Joker is", and then the Joker blows up a hospital anyway.
Only way it can be considered a loss or win is if the joker actually agree to the terms. L has to actually announce his intentions so that the joker does what he does. otherwise the joker will just play anything off because from an outsiders point of view it's just L being interested in the red hood.
Well, L has to figure out the identity AND catch/stop him. And he could only do that for 1/3 anyway. But unlike Batman, I don't think L would be like, "I know his identity but it doesn't matter." He'd be like, "I figured out 1/3. Execute that one." Which is still a loss, but 1 less Joker is a win for Gotham and all of DC's Earth, really. Sometimes even beyond Earth lol.
i mean joker would probably just straight up kill L (or torture him) if we are being honest like joker would find it entertaining that L is trying to find him but probably get bored and just blow him up (and by him i mean the city he is currently in)

@@diveblock2058 It's really really hard to imagine that happening considering how cautious and anonymous L is. There is no insensitive for L to reveal himself in any way as it would not get him anywhere close to finding out the Joker's identity because L would most likely without much hesitation execute the Joker after achieving that. This match just doesn't make much sense to me. L does not need to get too close to the joker to find that out and therefore the Joker would have no real reason to gun for him.
Now, all that’s left is, “Could Kira end crime in Gotham”. Basically, could he kill all of Batmans rogues gallery before they catch on/kill him.
Reminds me of a Dark Multiverse fan video where a version of Batman gets the Death Note and ultimately decides to start killing criminals with it.
The Court of Owls, League of Assassins, Joker and Bane at minimum have a strong chance, considering the 4 groups/individuals have outsmarted Batman on multiple occasions. Most others have no hope. Certain rogues may not count as "human" for the purpose of being killed by the book, like Poison Ivy or Clayface, due to their altered biology. In those cases Kira may simply be shit-out-of-luck. But normals like Crane, Cobblepot and Nigma? Dead instantly.
@@psychicsidekick4198 To be fair, I think Movie Light managed to orchestrate a death such that the person killed someone else? So it’s possible he could maybe get another person to kill Ivy for him if Ivy doesn’t count as human for the purposes of the death note.

I feel like L would work out that it's Bruce in 3 seconds just with simple logic. Clearly someone who loves Gotham and has access to virtually unlimited funds and technology. bruce Wayne. Next.

The recent Gordon comic reminded me that Joker isn't just some crazy dude. He's ingenious and meticulous. All the insane things he does has a purpose, but the only person who truely knows that purpose is Joker.

As always with comics that depends on the writers, in recent times he is mostly just a crazy dude with tons of power, the thing about joker is that he was never ment to challenge batman's mind henis there to challenge his morals, he is the chaos to batman's law. The one that is rightfully smart as batman is the riddler, when the writers don't make him into just a joke from the adam west era he is as smart or maybe smarter than batman, while batman is only able to defeat him thinking outside the box

L finding out Joker's identity means absolutely nothing. He would hear it announced and then do what Aaron Sanchez said and just blow up a hospital to prove it means nothing. That would be such a Joker thing to do. He'd also say something like "figuring out the punchline means nothing when you don't have *delivery*" before he blows up the maternal ward of a hospital.

Having L execute joker I actually see as the ultimate loss for joker it isn't a big scary vigilante who stops joker to keep people safe it's just a childish detective who finds solving cases interesting
Yup. Joker was terrified in one of the shows when the situation came up where he thought an average guy could kill him with a bomb. He wants a real flashy ending not some nobody that he himself has no interest in.

The problem with these videos Batman and Joker live in paranormal world with God's, Alien's, Demon etc. Let me explain Batman on being World Greatest Detective is a master of 127 martial art's being the best H2H combatant basically Brawn and Brain combined and Joker just like Batman has a genius level intelligence and has his own chaotic fighting style in other words their conflict is both action packed and heavy dilagoue between ideology's .That's why most people can collab with them and do crossover's and that's why someone like Johan, Kira or L will never crossover beacuse they are not that speacial.

I assumed L’s win condition is more prove the Joker is guilty in the judicial system, not so much revealing his identity. He needed Light’s identity to prove he was a serial killer not strictly for the name. Same thing with BB, he wanted to prove BB’s guilt and arrest him, not specifically getting his name.

No. The Joker's greatest asset isn't his intelligence, it's his judge of character. He sees right through every single person immediately. Makes him so much more dangerous.
Keep in mind - L's greatest strength is his powers of deduction. You can't deduce much from the Joker - he's truly bananas.

Another thing to note, though it might not be too important, Joker is probably aware of the fact he’s in a comic book. He’s referenced the reader a few times, referenced past crossovers nobody else remembers, and even turned the page of a comic he was in.

If that's the case, Joker being in a manga and it being read the opposite way would confuse him and cause him to slip up and get caught

I'd believe that L could discover Joker's identity if, as mentioned in canon, Bruce knew such only a week after he appeared the first time, which basically confirms that the Joker's backstory is The Killing Joke, as Bruce is seen observing his wife and child who were removed from Joker's old apartment by police for safety reasons.

The fact is, even in the Killing Joke, Joker himself admits that his backstory might not be true. He likes it to be different every time. Some parts of it might be true but some are mixed up.
The fact that after all these years even the readers don't know what his actual backstory is, it's kinda terrifying.

Yeah, it's kinda silly treating this specific origin as canon and then wondering why no one figured it out. It's easy because you're falling into the trap of taking the Joker on his word. In all likelihood he didn't even have "one bad day", he just had a degenerative neurological disorder that lead him to go mad over time, then he retroactively applied a twisted philosophy to justify his behaviour until he was so far gone that he didn't need it, by which point he was already obsessed with demonstrating it. Even if he was confident in what his backstory is, he's not a reliable narrator, especially after how often he's gone to Arkham Asylum (whose founder electrocuted his first patient during shock therapy, was home to Harley Quinn, Scarecrow, and the second Black Mask during their prior careers in psychology, and is notorious for having doctors experiment on the patients).

Batman knows Joker's real identity and has been keeping his ex wife and son in witness protection in Alaska. TOok him a week to find it out (Also Bruce Told the jOker who HE WAS too at that time). I'm pretty sure L could find the same information just as fast if not faster given he doesn't spend most of his nights jumping off of rooftops.
This was never said in the video...L would still be able to find out the joker's identity as long as he gets to working before the work files are erased. the files weren't erased as soon as the joker fell, the files still existed at the point of the joker falling it's simply only a matter of time before the files do happen to get erased.

Right, but that's after Joker really got going. Basically, if L got interested in Joker during the Clown Prince Of Crime's first year, L could probably win. (Assuming the files existed for about a year. We aren't told exactly when they're deleted, so let's just say a year, because the government/EPA move slow irl) After that? Pretty much instant loss.
Also, he can only figure out 1/3 Joker's identities. But assuming Red Hood/Killing Joke Joker is the 1st Joker (which I don't think he is but let's pretend for a second), then L can win in Year 1 and the other 2 Jokers possibly never exist.
However, if I remember right, there's basically classic-Silver Age Joker, from the 60s and stuff, who is canonically the 1st Joker. Pretty sure Killing Joke Joker is then the 2nd. Because I think he's from the more modern era. Not even sure which is the 3rd? I'm gonna guess the one who cut his face off? Seems different enough from KJ Joker to be a 3rd lol. But who knows? They're all crazy.
This is what makes L so much fun. He's a really well done trope character so he transitions well.

Also he said at the beginning that nobody ever found Jokers real identity but Batman did find his identity, he just didn't tell anyone about it

I mean what would revealing his identity really do like “the joker is John Doe now we can send people out to go catch him” like everyone’s been trying to catch him regardless revealing his true identity doesn’t change the goal or approach at all and doesn’t even really provide any useful info.
Catch Joker? Yes maybe but, stopping him is a completely different debate especially considering Batman has stated the only person who knows what Joker is doing is the Joker and what makes him dangerous is just how unpredictable he is especially considering just how insane he is. He also famously says he’s a man without a plan but he is constantly “planning” sometimes ahead of Batman due to his unpredictability, he’s insane but smart and knows what he’s doing , only he knows. L is smart but due to Jokers sheer insanity I’d say he’d get caught but break out whenever he wants or just bully L his whole career.

the joker isnt just pure chaos though. he does do things with a purpose. he wants to make the world laugh like he does. he wants to teach people lessons in despair and madness. that life is chaos and a giant joke of suffering and tragedy. you might not be able to predict his moves easily but baiting a trap would be easy.

I like the idea a young Batman attempts to stop the red hood but is killed and the reveal of Billionaire Bruce Wayne being a vigilante and being killed by another costumed foe / gang Interests L enough to become involved but he’s too late to stop Red hood before becoming the Joker. Great vid!
The only advantage L has up on Batman is that if L gets a hold of Joker he would have no qualms about killing him. If he deduced that Joker is too big a threat to keep alive, which I’m sure L would figure out, he’d have him killed immediately.

The real challenge isn't catching Joker (or any of batman's villains) it's keeping them contained 😶
The Jokers' strength is his unpredictability. Which is interesting since L seems to revel in asymmetrical warfare. The main issue is that the L has morals and the Joker doesn't, which will make life difficult for L.
L's Morals are very questionable. these cases are higher on his value system than basic morals.

To me that's not a backstory, that's an idea held together by glue, duck tape, and a nearly terminal case of writer's block. If you have an idea, don't make it so blatant that you're out of ideas.

I just keep rewatching Death Note. It’s short enough to binge over and over, like Invincible, and it’s just so good. While people complain about the second arc, and it does indeed have issues, it is still great (especially the soundtrack, if you listen to the anime while gaming like I do). So I love to see any videos like this that goes into a more realistic outcome of certain moments in the ani-manga, and videos that see if L could discover other villains or real criminals and vise versa if other villains or heroes could discover and arrest/kill Light or kill L.

Making the victory condition arresting the joker, is weighing this heavily in lights favor. The joker regularly escapes from the police and allows himself to be caught very consistently.
Exactly, the only win condition would be to arrest him, sentence him to death and actually carrying out the sentence. That is of course if L doesn't care about proving the joker's ideology by killing him and doesn't want to rehabilitate him like batman
Yeah, but the police in DC is so embarrassingly incompetent lol. Joker usually just turns himself in and pleads for insanity despite that making no sense. If L caught Joker in his early days, he would've executed him right there and then
L would whip Gotham's law enforcement into shape with terrifying efficiency, assuming he didn't just pull the national agencies into his game first. There wouldn't be any 'incompetent official somehow lets the Joker out' for the Joker to abuse, L would seal the holes in his net first, before casting it. Likely through illegal means, depending on how much he wants to win the game.

well it is explained that joker doesn't fully try and him sometimes WANTING batman to catch him, plus considering that godlike entities can't even find out who the joker truly is its going to be one hell of a challenge. plus joker himself admits not even he knows his past and if he is going to have multiple he might as well choose what backstory he believes.

In most versions he is just a regular insane criminal, nothing special compared to Light Yagami who had top level intelligence and supernatural help from his Note, Misa and the Shinigami.
The Joker is not a challengr to Batman as a detective, he never was, he is a challenge to his morals. It's not about wether Batman Will catch Joker, it's what Will he do after he gets him, kill him and break his n1 rule or follow the law. That was what Killing Joke was all about. Joker knew that he would get caught easily so his plan was to prove thqt good men like Batman and Gordon could turn bad like him.
