A fair point. I got another video in the works comparing a Vox AC15 and Princeton which should be more objective. Btw, I also found from experience that the Vox amps sound better on the floor than when they are decoupled or on top of something.
@@Ksumsar any app would sound better on the floor, because the floor will reinforce the bass response. Put it in a corner on the floor and you’ll get even more reinforcement of the bass. The same is true for stereo speakers, even small Bluetooth speakers, etc. Try it!
I have been doing a similar comparison shopping. Vox AC15 originally but it's just too big so I changed my search to Vox AC10 vs Fender Princeton vs Supro Amulet. I haven't yet found a good review that also captures the Supro as well to be fair to all 3 contenders
I'm still in two minds about it. I usually play the Vox just by itself, no pedals and it sounds good with varying gain. Princeton meanwhile gets too loud for natural overdrive at my flat so I use pedals. I'll likely keep both for now and then decide. If you have sensitive ears I'd get the Princeton. I find that the Vox can have some harsh frequencies even at mid volumes. AC15 is different from the AC10, much heavier and a fuller sound in my opinion but lacking some of the spark of the AC10.
I have both, the Fender Princeton Reissues clean tones are clearer and it has more bass, I switched to an Eminence Copperhead speaker. The factory Jensen in the Princeton distorted when I tried plugging acoustic electric guitars into it. The Vox AC10c1 amp has its own gain dial which blends better when using overdrive pedals. I tried a Celestion Greenback Speaker in it but it sounded too dark, almost like a Hemp cone speaker. I switched back to the stock Vox VX 10 and had no regrets. The Vox AC10c1 being less expensive, lighter and louder, yes louder than the Princeton it has proven itself to be the better amp to load up and take to jams with a full drumset, another guitar player, a singer and a bass player. At home if Im not using overdrive pedals, this same Princeton Reverb Reissue as seen in the video has the better grade touch sensitivity, bass range, treble tones, an actual spring not digital reverb and the Fender tremolo. I recently also bought a Marshall DSL20cr. It has the sorriest/faintest clean channel and reverb effect I have ever heard. Louder than the Princeton and the AC10C1, the build quality looks to be durable and the ultra gain channel is interesting but for cleans it is absolute trash. The EQ dials barely offer any tonal variance. If someone were new to electric guitar and asked me about tube amps, for the money Id tell them to pull the trigger on the AC10c1 without reservation
thanks! i had the vox for a bit hated the fake reverb but a loud capable amp no doubt!! im shopping for a good all around small amp...I hear the 12 inch sweetwater princeton tweed was good your thoughts???
I’ve had the AC10, AC15, Deluxe Reverb and Princeton with 12 Celestion. By far the Princeton is my favorite for indie rock and British Invasion/EMI tones. It’s the best amp I’ve ever played. The clean and saturated breakup are pleasing on a higher level. 2nd choice is AC15. The AC10 got stale for me. I’m my experience, the 15 had a much snappier and bright er sound than the 10.
I agree. I have an AC15 with the Blue Alnico speaker now. Will make a video at some point but I think I prefer it to the AC10. I'll likely keep both the AC15 and Princeton.

@@occimoron interesting, will definitely experiment! Extra bass is definitely useful to have with a small 10 inch speaker amp.

Which do you prefer? Trying to decide between the Princeton 65 and the AC15 for Jazz / classic rock / indie stuff. Both cleans and pedals

What would you try to run an acoustic guitar into Fender Princeton? You offer very poor advice.

Hanging the 57 vs aiming it directly at the cone affects the tone a lot. The micing each amp differently makes for a very unfair comparison.
The Princeton is really scooped in the mids.
The Vox has a lot of upper mids, lacks bottom. Then again, it’s not setting on the floor.
