Ok but can we talk about how good Nese looked in this match ? He doesn't have the charisma of Swerve, but Nese is definitely one of the locker room's best worker
Definitely! Tony Nese is soooo Good. Personally I think he'd kill it in New Japan with the Juniors before stepping to the Heavyweights. I could see him dominating BoSJ & being dominant in a faction like Suzuki Gun 🙌🏽

Tony has been good at hiring pure workers who know they have a ceiling for various reasons that can be valuable in building talent. Jay lethal, Neese, fish and O'Reilly (tho together they have more value), and that's to add to others like Kaz.
He was spectacular against Sammy as well. I'm not asking for a big push for Nese, but it'd be nice to see him in the midcard more often + some wins from time to time.
He has NO charisma. This match was slow, out of step… and a “main event”? One of the Worst main events in Rampage history!!! Would have only been a house show match… tops!

Great in-ring worker, but he has the charisma of a wet mop man. It has been and will always be what holds him back. With that said, it’s still fun to watch his matches for sure.
They could have given Swerve a quick squash match with some random or a jobber just for his debut, but instead they give up a top quality match that makes both men look great
Yep. If you think about it, everyone that has debuted in AEW in recent memory had been pushed to the limits with the exception of Maliki Black squashing some guy… what’s his name who doesn’t work there anymore. 🤣

@@louisverdie4829 I think what most people are overlooking is Neese was in the MAIN EVENT of the show. Has he ever main event raw or smack down? And this was a 1 on 1 match too. Commentary definitely put him over and Swerve gave him just as much offense and he got. I think it’s a win win for both. Just because you took the loss doesn’t mean he really lost when we think about it.
Swerve has everything. He has a dope entrance theme, moves/works like butter, looks like a champ, and even has the added charisma to top things off. Please don't miss this opportunity, Tony Khan.
...and now, Swerve has a world title to compliment all the other things that you say that he has. Tony Khan isn't perfect, but he did Strickland right.
That reverse hop up to the top turn buckle was beautiful. I love being able to watch great in ring work again. Thanks AEW!

It was a good match and Swerve and Tony were very innovative, lots of good moves and spots I haven't seen before.

Swerve definitely lived up to the hype. His skills in the ring are so smooth and precise and the crowd is behind him. Definitely would love to see him get involved in the TNT championship picture 😎

Happy to see Strickland at AEW but please give him a nice finisher. That stomp looked like a mixed version of Cameron Grimes and Finn balor stomp.

I wish Swerve would go back to his old theme "Ain't Nobody" by Chaka Khan like he had in the indies. He had this nice vibe with that song when he came out to the ring.

I never heard of swerve and this is the first match I seen him wrestle in and This Dude is effing AWESOME!!! My boy Tony nese and swerve KILLED IT in this match. What a GREAT Main Event!!! AEW keeps rolling in the right direction and continue to build an amazing company which I think will become the number one wrestling show/company before the year ends

The only issue with AEW is there is no many guys who are championship material, not everyone can hold the belt

It's the little things that make Swerve such an attraction. The way you make transitions between moves and sequences effortless is worth its weight in gold to talent. A lot of talent has a ceiling, he ladies and gentlemen does not. True shame he isn't a signed feature, not just signed.
I went to AEW in Nashville a few weeks ago and had a "Premier Athlete Tony Nese" sign. Sad I I didn't get to see him wrestle but happy to show my support for one of most underrated wrestlers on the roster

Swerve was pretty dope, I like his style and Nese looked awesome from just a pure wrestling perspective, from the moves to the sells
His offense is very different; I really like it! It's almost capoeira influenced. Damn, I just remembered Tadarius Thomas. Phuck! *Unfortunately, charisma-wise, Tony Nese is the opposite of swerve. I always saw Nese as a good tag team partner with Chris Masters/Adonis/Atlas or whatever his name is now. They look similar aesthetically, but their wrestling styles are completely different. They would compliment each other perfectly, I think. Just a thought...*
Strickland's good at making the spots still feel like a fight. He's smooth enough to be safe but doesn't make things look effortless, it's compelling

Good chemistry from both men, they brought a taste of what they done on 205 live to AEW, good showing from both hope Nese gets more opportunities, he's too talented in that ring even those his mic skills aren't his strong suit from what I remembered.
