My big surprise doing reselling is how little my family supports me. Everyone in my life thinks im selling trash and wasting my life. Hard to stay motivated to list pushing back against such negativity. Even when i have good sales my family is always pressuring me to donate everything and get a job.
I completely understand this. Luckily I have supportive parents and sister but sometimes other people in my life don't really like it. You just keep pushing and use it as motivation to prove them wrong.

Took the leap last November as I wanted to contribute more to our household as I've been a stay at home dad for the last 2 years. Been working my butt off to make my eBay store a success and thanks to you guys and a bunch of others on here I've been bringing $2K-$3.5K each month. I've been really blessed to have a wife with a job in tech to have a stable income and insurance. Thank you guys for your videos and showing the ins and outs of everything. Debating on taking the youtube plunge in the next few months just because I enjoy the finds and interactions with people I've had!!

Many years ago, I met a man who ran his own construction business & was very successful. He could neither read nor write beyond his own name. He had a good accountant & his wife to assist with paperwork.
I bet he stuck to his word, showed up on time, did great work and treated customers fairly. That’s all it takes to be successful because it’s SO hard to find people that are like that,
We have friends of the family who became millionaires due to owning lots of real estate. The husband didn't learn to read and write until his granddaughter was around 2nd grade and struggling to read due to dyslexia. He and his granddaughter did the Hooked on Phonics program together. Dyslexia ran in the family....grandfather, son, and granddaughter all have/had it. The grandma handled all book work and would read things to her husband when necessary. He also worked as a stevedore on the docks of San Diego. But, like Josh said, he worked hard, showed up on time, and was honest and kind in all his dealings.
@@HairyTornado yep 💯%. I was a floral designer for 35 years and now I'm retired. I went from one industry where people have no clue how hard it is. Or how long it takes to make products. So after 35 years of my hard work not being recognized, I decided to be a reseller because I'm comfortable with people Not having a clue how hard I work. 😅 I'm used to it. 😂
Love yall!❤ As a designer and brick and mortar store owner that has vendors, I do everything possible to help my vendors stage their booths to help their items to sell. Reason for saying that🤣 is that I think y'all should put risers or low shelves on the table that is below your booth sign, in order to put your stuff up higher, so that when people are just walking past your booth, they can see the items that are on that table😊
I almost didn’t watch this video because I thought it was going to be all complaints about 😊”resellers” but I love the way you formatted the video with the information, questions etc with the normal content. Informative and positive. Im not a reseller but I do appreciate the profession and respect the talent!
Staying motivated every day is a big issue. Some days you just don’t want to post or anything and then you hear the ding 🛎️ that you made a sale and you suddenly feel better!! Love your Ralli Roots shirt Haley! Also wanted to say I have learned so much from you guys!!
11 months reselling to where my mother, wife and son all sell things through my online store. The worth it moments are those of an item that a buyer has a personal connection with. Beanie Babies to Africa thru a missionary. A pillow pet for a boy with two separate households and a women replacing a hat that was a security blanket. Thank you again for the house flip challenge. That's what motivated me to resell.
Josh, thank you for explaining this to people. I feel CZcams while interesting and great it is often edited to be more entertaining towards giving hope instead of actual full disclosure. I appreciate content creators who go into the details, the good the bad and the ugly.
What I learned most about our business was the stress I knew it would be stressful, but oh my glory it was very stressful. When you have other people working for you you just can’t pray for him enough.
Ahhh! The normal job syndrome!!! I have had my own business since 7th grade. I am now 65 & I love my life & what I do. How things have changed over the decades. I love selling on-line.
I don't own a business. I'm a widow and I love the things that you have. Unlike a lot of your stuff at unable to purchase but I watch you because I love you both and you're like grandkids to me. I don't have any children or grandchildren, but you would be wonderful if you were mine. Take care and be safe.❤❤
Just for those who don’t understand a write off, you’re lowering your taxable income by writing off that expense. You’re really only saving that amount x your tax rate.
I been on eBay since 2001 & I only been full-time for two years. I waited until I finished my career with a Pension & Insurance Package this makes any decision I make a little easier. I am also a full-time childcare for a grandson so no more paid childcare. Overall since my retirement my daily expenses went down including gas, eats & oil changes ect. I'm never bored I set myself on a daily schedule with weekend off.
My spouse is a veterinarian and we own a veterinary clinic. I am a part-time reseller and full-time Practice Manager at our clinic. We started the clinic from scratch 14 years ago. We now have 4 doctors and 15 staff. It’s hard work. One of the hardest things of all is staffing and morale. If your staff isn’t happy, your clients won’t be happy. Put as much money and training into your staff as possible and the rest will come. Regarding your comment about health insurance (you may already know this), if you employ one person (not a spouse) full-time, you are eligible to get and offer group health insurance. It is quite a bit less money with much better coverage. Find an insurance broker that offers group health in your area. The broker doesn’t cost you a dime and handles everything.
I just love you guys! I don’t care if you’re you tubing, reselling, house flipping, or even golfing. It’s so much fun to just watch you guys do what you love to do and experience joy doing it!!!
I was born in the 60s. I think my generation was taught to get a college degree and/or a good job with benefits and retirement. It was a different mindset. I believe that causes fear for those that venture on their own. I am proud of those that work hard and succeed with their own small business! It takes hard work and perseverance! Congrats to you two! Always enjoy your videos!
Thanks for sharing my response! I hesitated to start my own business due to fear of not knowing enough about business. Reselling has been a great way to enter the self employment life.
I fully agree about the amount of work it take. My wife and I have two small businesses. One is our eBay store, which we started during the beginning of COVID, and the other is our wax melt, candle, and other home fragrance business, started at the height of COVID. Which we are pouring our hearts and souls into and it is gaining traction and quickly becoming a regional favorite in our area. We feel that we need to hire someone to help the fragrance business, but just not quite ready to pull the trigger, because we are still working out of our home. Plus, I am still working a full-time job plus overtime as an industrial mechanic, because of the guaranteed pay and benefits that my wife needs. I'm a disabled veteran, so I have the VA. However, I work the industrial job, for my wife's health benefits. Are y'all going to rent this house or flip? Last I knew, y'all were going to rent.
When I made my very first Ebay sale, I was so excited and jumping up and down and my mom said what's all the excitement and I told her look, I just made my very first sale, she said in a monotone voice, that's nice and then she just walked off...I was crushed; hurt so bad.
Even if you don't understand the psychology you have to adapt until you get the right videos. I actually have to agree with Paul, Jealousy is an issue.
I’m am proud of how you have grown this channel-I have been with you since you started-organizing that little garage and using your guest bedroom for shoes. What a blessing to be able to work together in a job you love💞
Even if you don’t have a CZcams channel people sometimes seem jealous. I am close to a couple other resellers and they often make derogatory comments about how much I make compared to them. I’ve been selling part time on eBay for over 20 years, they’ve only been selling for a couple of years. I am willing to ‘pay up’ for items I know will sell for a lot. I spend quite a lot of time sourcing, cleaning, photographing, listing and shipping even though it’s part time. You get what you’re willing to put into it. It’s the same with my booth. I know people who ‘pay in’ half of the time and barely break even the rest of the time. It’s hard work but SO much fun! Thanks for continuing to teach the ones of us who are still willing to learn….even at age 66!!!
Doesn't matter what field of work you are in, family and friends will always be the DEBBIE DOWNERS....its a reflection of them. Same thing when you are dating or buying a home. I see it everyday being a realtor and the families start putting the negative out there. Be happy and help someone else is my motto. I want to help any and everyone get a home and excel in their lives. Keep doing what you do, love the channel.
Good video! I just started mine last year and just finished my taxes. Sold on eBay and did 85k in sales. Go my taxable income to under 20k and it made my taxes due to under 400 dollars.
@@HairyTornado yes, many. I learned a lot about taxes during the process including self employment taxes. I also learned about what you can and can't write off and how to track mileage. It's a lot of fun but definitely requires you to be organized! Thanks for the reply!
Love Love Love this Video ❤ The Best part of Reselling is that you/I can be at Church, Friends House or Away for the Weekend & still make a Ton of Sales 👍 Can’t wait to see your next video ❤ Take Care, Jill
After reading some comments, I agree with the fact that family doesn't support what I do. I resell as a hobby, not to put food on my table. Even as a hobby I get negative comments from my husband all the time. Another comment I agree with is the sweet and exciting sound of the cash register when you make a sale on Ebay.
shopping for car parts at goodwill is a crazy concept. lol I love the way you two communicate with each other and how you both decide on what you buy for the business. Living in CA here, your sympathy is apprecated.
What we wish we knew about reselling before we started is that it's not as easy as some youtubers make it seem. We got caught up in the world wind of reselling content, and completely ignored the fact that CZcams resellers(for the most part) only show you the highs of reselling. Even demographics plays a role. We see some resellers go to Goodwills like its their a honey hole, but for us, Goodwills aren't even an option if we want to be successful. That's how dry Goodwills are in our city. We've learned we have to pave our own way and not compare ourselves to other resellers, and we've been doing pretty good so far.
Hayley has been such a Wonderful Addition to Your Videos…gradually sharing more and contributing so much… she is well spoken, articulate and sweet… 🎉Kudos to Hayley 👍🏼
Thanks for the real talk! I’m not a reseller, just watch you two for entertainment! I can see that several folks are agreeing with you and adding their stories along with your talk and advice. Life is never easy, especially if you work for yourself! I love you two and Hayley you GLOW with happiness!
I LOVE your comments about adaptation in business. Very few people understand the NECESSITY of it. I have watched for years because of your adaptive skills. BOTH of you. From a rental to .....well NOW?!! just amazing, and I love to follow the progress both of you have made.
We see it’s not easy all the driving you do as well as reselling, you to never stop you’ve created a great business and wish you two ,good luck in your sales ,Happy Easter 😊😊xx❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🌺🦋🌺🦋
I had a business for 10 years which was a great experience and later I went went to work in government. The business experience definitely helped me get the job. Some changes in the industry we were in encouraged me to switch, but working for yourself is definitely a rewarding experience in many ways. In upcoming retirement I may do some side hustles or maybe some writing. As always pulling for you two, as you are some of the most charasmatic youtubers out there.
This why I like yawl story, you and tech n sports are the only sellers who did not come from 6 figure or more salaries . Then went on the limb and did this🙏🏾. I hate selling clothes, but I hated my desk job being disrespected more. Plus my effort= my income.
I am a full time Facebook retailer 3 years and still growing y'all's videos have helped me a lot thank y'all for the help and explaining in the video more
I have to say how much more I like the phone recording because the Go Pro’s warp your faces and bodies. Just something I often think about. Love you guys!
I sell a lot of shoes, and am getting into handbags also. I find a lot of satisfaction in cleaning, brushing, conditioning, and polishing if necessary, shoes to get them to look their best. I constantly get feedback saying shoes looked better than expected, and that gives me great pleasure.
I completely agree w/ Hairy and wishing there would be more initial enthusiasm when someone starts a new business!! Most not all, but MANY look at it initially with tinge of negativity and apprehension instead of celebration and positive vibes. Such a great topic & content in this vid! Cheers from SC✨ Hailey, also love that your wearing a Rallyroots sweatshirt- yep "Support your friends" 💙 Cant wait to see the next vid of the house updates!!🤩
Josh and Hayley! Thanks for taking us along! For sharing things about business and taxes . I appreciate you both so much! Stay safe stay great and keep up the good work!!!
I would say not feared but criticized. Doubted maybe. But you put in so much work, you connect with your fans, and you keep pushing the envelope with different avenues and processes! ❤
That support you want when you start your own business is rarely there.my husband and I opened a business in 1974 and quit his regular job which was well paying. We had started it part time a couple of years earlier and already making money. We were prepared with no house payment and savings and we agreed if it didn’t work, he would get another job. My mother was the only family member who thought we were right. My husband was 43 and his job was going to kill him with stress. He was never happier in his life after that. I think people mostly don’t take care of the business part. You can’t just concentrate on the fun things and have to remember that you aren’t on vacation so you will work harder than ever.
I wish I had a business partner. 3-4 weeks ago I created my LLC and I’m attempting reselling full time. It’s hard to go solo and not have anyone to get opinions or bound ideas off of. But I’m going to give it atleast a year of doing my best and if not I’ll return to the field I have a degree for.
Josh & Hayley - you're a pleasure to watch and listen to and are very informative. I am not a reseller, but I watch so I can get ideas on what to do and how to do it when the time comes to clear out my mom's house (which is now mine). There will be items to go to salvage as far as clothing, but there are way more good items and collectibles that I would prefer not to donate. I wish you both a Happy & Blessed Easter!
Health insurance protects us now (kinda) 🤣 But.. life insurance! Definitely protects the ones we love in case of a tragedy. The wife and I were looking for additional coverage. Thanks for sharing today’s sponsor!
When I worked I had life insurance through my company, but when my company shutdown I did a term insurance policy for 100,000 with a company for 22 yrs. and every couple years it would go up in price. Never thought a lot about it until I reached 65 years old and it actually went up to 350.00 per month. I almost croaked! I found a company that offered whole life insurance policies which will stay the same price until I pass. At 65 years of age it cost me a lot more than if I would have been young and took a whole life policy. Also my policy makes money each month. NO Term insurance policy ever again for me! Just my opinion.
Agreed Josh. There are many ways to make a successful living that are non-traditional if you are willing to work and learn and surround yourself with the right people. No one said it was easy but things that are worth it usually aren't easy. Judy
Soo happy for the pair of you ❤ love what you have built together and continue to build together ❤ it’s a great business and exciting as you move forward 🤗
I have now completed my two year experimental Reselling but i probably jumped in to it too fast. But i have gained a lot of knowledge and feel ready to go part time. Didn't realise how much i would enjoy it.
I have a regular job, but resell in mostly toys or things I would use myself I case they don't sell. I would resell anything for extra cash for groceries, then save for vacations. I started reselling because my eldest son wanted to make extra cash since he couldn't get a job and he is into playing travel baseball. I got involved to help him list and ship. Then he got banned for being under age and I took over, now it's a hobby and a way to teach kids about business, money and life. I gave a talk to my youngest son the other day about money (mainly about investing) and he started listing some shoes and made his first sale yesterday for $100. I do accumulate a lot of stuff and tried to organize, but inventory does take a lot of space. I do have an exit plan; among them are the things i like to collect and my kids/nephew are interested in I'll give to them, or they can sell when I had passed away and in mind that Im still providing in the afterlife. Sorry for the long comment, but for those who are hesitant about reselling, Josh and Haley have been helpful and they give great advice and insight; great couple.
The wooden christmas ornaments at 7:30 are most likely German (maybe produced in China though). They are typical for the Erzgebirge region in Saxony and quite expensive if handmade. But I saw china-made sets like this on Amazon for cheap.
Very informative....y'all answered alot of my concerns and what the next steps are going to be for growing my small Ebay business. Especially now that I'm retired! Keep up the great work! And thank you!
My husband and I take paycheck out of our small business. We felt it was better and has more advantages than disadvantages. And have a great accounting firm is worth the weight in gold.
I'd absolutely love to do what I love full time but I don't generate enough to give up my full time job. I don't have a partner either so running the house, caring for my 4 cats & paying bills is all on me but I truly admire those who can make a success of reselling, don't get me wrong I'm successful but nowhere near the level I wanna be / need to be to to throw in the towel & quit my job. Hard work is definitely the key thought, I work 40 hours a week at my job & easily another 20-30 a week reselling, plus keeping the house going - I'm bloomin knackered
Someone once told me about "faith based health insurance", might be something worth looking into for you both. Great video today, interesting content. 35 minutes and I didn't want it to end! Keep up the good work! 🥰☺
Greetings from Rock Hill, SC. I was in Columbia this past Wednesday and stopped in to see your booth. The booth looks great! I recognized so much that I have seen in your videos. I signed your book, but didn't have a quarter to get a gumball, haha!
We incorporated our business in 1987. Over the years we have had to adapt and change and learn and try new things. I have watched a lot of sellers lately who sound so sad because their sales have fallen off. They don’t understand because they are doing all the “right things” ie. sourcing desirable items, listing, etc.. Well sometimes what used to be the “right things” need to be tweaked or rethought. There is no magic pill or silver bullet. Evaluate and see what direction you might go in that blazes a new trail and avoids the saturated areas and plays to your strengths. You know the definition of insanity……..
Great info guys! I gotta flip my way to get to your level. I'm still flipping shoes and still enjoy it! Def need to get over the fear of running my own business full time. I am "working" my 9-5 as I watch your video. Lol. Maybe actually working 30% of the time today.
I’m also an LLC filing with a S Corp. I have rentals as well and one thing I did last year was a Cost Segregation on one to try it out. Saved me $$$. If you need a few companies to get quotes let me know.
The viewer is correct. I have my own private business. They've told me in interviews it looks like I'm hiding I've been in prison and looked down on me. I told three different jobs what I thought and kept running my business instead

You must have a few kids or something else to give you some tax credits. 20k in income would generate at least $3000 in self employment tax alone.
Solid advice as usual! I'm so glad you are shopping the hard goods now for booth goodies ;-)
I know you already know Josh just be humble and bless the people that help you have what you got what you have
After reading some comments, I agree with the fact that family doesn't support what I do. I resell as a hobby, not to put food on my table. Even as a hobby I get negative comments from my husband all the time. Another comment I agree with is the sweet and exciting sound of the cash register when you make a sale on Ebay.
Absolutely LOVE the longer videos! 🫶🏼
Ya'll are so cute! This was a great video. Absolutely loved the insight from you guys and other resellers!
shopping for car parts at goodwill is a crazy concept. lol I love the way you two communicate with each other and how you both decide on what you buy for the business.
Many thrift stores have dried up since the pandemic. Even yard sales are way down in places (in number of sales and quality of items available).
I absolutely love you two ! You both are my favorite resellers!😊
You both are fun to watch every time! We are so glad that we found you on You Tube!! Keep up the good work!!
Never jealous towards anyone…. Always happy for them…. Blessings Yiayia Pat
That handmade face mug might have been fun for your booth!! I love seeing the house flip updates!!
Yes i thought that someone would have loved it.
This why I like yawl story, you and tech n sports are the only sellers who did not come from 6 figure or more salaries . Then went on the limb and did this🙏🏾. I hate selling clothes, but I hated my desk job being disrespected more. Plus my effort= my income.
Can u maybe show us a video on your cleaning process (affiliated link w/ cleaning products 😉)
I am a full time Facebook retailer 3 years and still growing y'all's videos have helped me a lot thank y'all for the help and explaining in the video more
Library tax is the worst! They screwed up my taxes will never use again
Cheers from SC✨ Hailey, also love that your wearing a Rallyroots sweatshirt- yep "Support your friends" 💙
Cant wait to see the next vid of the house updates!!🤩
Josh and Hayley! Thanks for taking us along! For sharing things about business and taxes . I appreciate you both so much! Stay safe stay great and keep up the good work!!!
I would say not feared but criticized. Doubted maybe. But you put in so much work, you connect with your fans, and you keep pushing the envelope with different avenues and processes! ❤
Lots of good advice plus I got to hear my name! Look forward to visiting your booth this this week, but again really loved the content today!
Happy Easter, Josh, Hayley and Mose! To all resellers... DON'T GIVE UP! Like they say... SUPPORT YOUR FRIENDS!!! 😊
Love that Hayley is wearing a Ralliroots sweatshirt! Love them and love you guys!
Good job guys. I’ve just recently got into reselling and I’d have to say the hardest part for me forsure is staying motivated to make listings.
1 MILLION % ..... its a very real struggle. I need to get into an accountability group like NOW!! lol
@@gulfcoastsunset5879 let’s me and you start one together😂 *new side hustle*
Omg get that mug !!!!! 😅 😂 I feel like I NEED it from you
Yes !! That mug was awesome! One of the best ugly face mugs I’ve ever seen!
I want to do this because you dont have a Boss breathing over you. Great video 🙏❤️
I think you're a really nice couple. Nice and simple and no fuss
Josh thank you for all the inside look into reselling you and haile are amazing 😊
Health insurance protects us now (kinda) 🤣
But.. life insurance! Definitely protects the ones we love in case of a tragedy.
The wife and I were looking for additional coverage. Thanks for sharing today’s sponsor!
Of course! I actually bought a policy through them. $94 a month for $1.5 million in coverage. Super solid deal AND no medical exam.
Good video guys 👍🏻👍🏻
When I worked I had life insurance through my company, but when my company shutdown I did a term insurance policy for 100,000 with a company for 22 yrs. and every couple years it would go up in price. Never thought a lot about it until I reached 65 years old and it actually went up to 350.00 per month. I almost croaked! I found a company that offered whole life insurance policies which will stay the same price until I pass. At 65 years of age it cost me a lot more than if I would have been young and took a whole life policy. Also my policy makes money each month. NO Term insurance policy ever again for me! Just my opinion.
i’m ‘instantly’ interested in the next florida flea market trip, pre or post ‘summer’. you two had so much fun!!
Agreed Josh. There are many ways to make a successful living that are non-traditional if you are willing to work and learn and surround yourself with the right people. No one said it was easy but things that are worth it usually aren't easy. Judy
Good advice about starting a business! I definately think we as people need to be more supportive of each other!
i appreciate the 100% honesty, some mihgt be obvious in the details, but its good to know your willing to share it all honestly
Also an LLC - S Corp Election! Very relatable to you both with our retail music industry business. Bravo and keep it up!
You guys are hard workers and have earned everything on your own. Look forward to seeing the house flip. Know it is going to be very nice!
You Guys are awsome! Thank you for all your info! I appreciate it. Been following for years! Enjoyed this video!
The blue one in those big celsius cans are soooo good!
Someone once told me about "faith based health insurance", might be something worth looking into for you both. Great video today, interesting content. 35 minutes and I didn't want it to end! Keep up the good work! 🥰☺
Yeah we’ve seen the ads for it. Christian Healthcare Ministries or something.
You guys are the best!! So proud of you two and Mose too of course.
EXCELLENT VIDEO!! You both are such a great pair! This was great!!!❤❤❤❤
Awesome episode, thanks for sharing the details behind running your own business.
Greetings from Rock Hill, SC. I was in Columbia this past Wednesday and stopped in to see your booth. The booth looks great! I recognized so much that I have seen in your videos. I signed your book, but didn't have a quarter to get a gumball, haha!
Good on you guy's.
Hard work pays off.
Yall… Josh spelled jealousy wrong to troll with you. We all know that Hayley would have corrected it when she saw it! 😂 I love it!
I’m also an LLC filing with a S Corp. I have rentals as well and one thing I did last year was a Cost Segregation on one to try it out. Saved me $$$. If you need a few companies to get quotes let me know.
All your videos are awesome very insightful 😎 i have learn so much. Thank you so much 🙏👍😃
The viewer is correct. I have my own private business. They've told me in interviews it looks like I'm hiding I've been in prison and looked down on me. I told three different jobs what I thought and kept running my business instead
It's funny when you were talking about life insurance, the song "we all need somebody to lean on" was playing in the background. lol
The house series is VERY entertaining.
