Let me know your opinions of this years world's strongest man!?
This was a terrific rundown Matt, a nice concise report.
@@jrwilliams4029 Thank you! Trying to do it at the same time as insta is a bit rushed
Honestly, Tom as a champion is good, he looked great. But the show itself might be the worse in a long time, WSM is doing the oposite of improving and looks very dusted in comparisson to the other mayor shows.
@@antoniocenteno1483 totally agree
Scotland on top!! Alba Gu Brath 🏴🏴
Well deserved victory for Tom.
Dominant
definitely dominant, but I want to say props to Hooper for not making excuses and admitting his grip failed and caused his injury. Very humble of him. Also complimenting his rivals and taking pics with fans, great attitude. Also props to luke, being 7th in the world is not at all a minor achievement!
Congrats to Tom joining an elite club of 3x WSM winners. And he's still so young, he could possibly take the record of most WSM wins if the biggest competition he has is against Hooper and guys like Singleton who continue to improve. I see the two of them having a back and forth battle over the next few years like Big Brian and Savickas.
Yes, definitely can still win more
Great achievement 🏆🏆🏆
My biggest surprise was was how much T-Rex improved since Arnolds 💪 learned how to switch on/off, be smart , didn't burnt out before event even started
Yes, got it right this time and ahead of Ragg by a whisker which is all that counts
Think he changed his gear lol not as much rage
Well deserved Tom !! His grip won him it !! Mitches hands slipped on the frame causing his hands to shred !!
yeah, props to him for admitting his grip was not strong enough, instead of making excuses. That is humble.
@@vanessaruiz4705 100%
He's improved on his weaknesses and now well rounded
But if u go back hoopers grip has bren better then most@@vanessaruiz4705
Thank you for your coverage here and on IG. Hope youy enjoy the Siberian Power Show!
Thank you, I will!
Thank you Matt. I guess after all is said and done, at least we can say the best strongman won
You are welcome. Yes, Tom was clearly the best over the distance of it.
Tom came in great shape and seemed confident throughout. He is so well suited to WSM, it will exciting to see if he can push for the 5 win record. It is too bad Mitch tore up his hands in the first even of the finals. Hopefully he will be able to heal up before the other big shows of the year.
Thanks for the coverage. I miss all the strongman content from your channel.
You are welcome, I will try to make more
Great work on all the WSM coverage, Matt!
Thank you, you are welcome.
Thanks Matt, and thanks for no spoilers in the thumbs or lead in to the video.
You're welcome!
Alot of chat will remain that this was a weak lineup. Mateusz, Novikov, Licis and Bish would not have challenged Tom or Mitch. Thor would have done well but not won based on the axle. I hope Mitch takes the defeat well (doesnt blame his hands). It was the best thing to happen for WSM to keep a rivalry narrative i thought Mitch would run away with it.
This line-up had only 2 WSM and Arnold winners, being Tom and Hooper. Comparing that to this years Arnold, it was a pretty weak line up. Good thing though is that lots of new guys got their chance to show up and score really well, Tristain, Andrade, Derwinsky.
The talk will always be there when the majority of the top 10 are either not there or not fully fit.
Weak lineup or not. Tom defeated the Moose who was winning everything and was the man to beat
I think healthy hands would have kept Mitch on top.
@@seanwhitehall4652 but to be fair he admitted that if his grip was stronger he wouldnt have got injured in that first event. He admitted it to Eddie hall and then on a video on his own channel. Therefore it wasnt "bad luck".
Fantastic coverage as always Matt
Glad you enjoyed it mate!
How different would it have been if Mitch Hooper hadn’t have messed his hands up on the frame.
I honestly think he would have won but congratulations to Tom though, wow 3x
Been waiting! Thank you for your cool words!
Thank you for watching as always!
Very good sum up. Also top quality reports during contest! Looking forward to see how Siberian powershow goes!
Thank you mate!
So happy that it was Tom who won, congratulations
Thanks for watching mate
They got a lot right this year, groups were pretty much spot on too
Groups and weights were very good. The rest was the worst I've ever seen in terms of location, missing athletes and apparatus making it impossible to have the same appeal to new tv fans that it previously has had.
Fantastic performance by Tom! Being the only man to lift the 5th stone just cemented him as the strongest man in the world. Also good for Hooper to lift 4 stones with that hand injury, he's a warrior!
In my opinion they should switch out either keg toss or conan's wheel for a heavy plane pull.
Thanks for coverage! Looking forward to watch your future content Matt!
Thank you. And yes, bring back the plane pull!
In fairness Mitch stopped to congratulate Tom once he got up the 5th stone, so we dunno if he could have done 5th but he knew there was no point
@@walk-york Yeah Mitch was good!
switch the keg toss in that case, Conan's wheel is one of the best events
Well done tom true scottsman
Clear victory
He will break marius pudonosky record
Scotsman * 🏴👌🏻
Shouldn't have counted out Tom in my predictions for 1st, a good, consistent performance with no mistakes. In the past Tom's deadlift and overhead was rather weak, but in few years, year by year showing constant improvement, now it's his top strength and it'd seem there are no weaknesses left.
Tristain, Andrade and Derwinsky showed up almost out of nowhere and went 5, 6, 7, really impressive. I've expected Aivars, and Pavlo especially to score better than them but I guess I was wrong. One can wonder how many strongmen are there that are capable of reaching good places in WSM final but don't even get the chance. Where folks like Pa do get it and... well.
Also good to see my fellow countryman Adam Roszkowski 1st time on WSM, I hope this result was good enough for him to see more invites to big events. As for Oskar.. yeah it's not a great year for him. :( I hope Mateusz heals up for good. Those constant injuries not only preven't him from improving his deadlift, but to simply reach his peak strength 2019-2020. :/ Peak form Mateusz was beatable by peak form Thor only.
Thanks for all of the clips and coverage! Helps us diehard fans to follow our beloved sport.
Good summary mate, I agree. I will see Adam in 3 days time at the Siberian Power Show.
Thanks so much for the coverage and constant updates on IG . Much appreciated 👏 . Also great to see Tom back on top 🎉
You are very welcome
It was great to see the arrogant Hooper soundly beaten by Big Tom!!! 🌶🌶🌶
A commanding victory!
yeah, idk why that dude become so arrogant all of the sudden, he managed to be more annoying that Evans
🤡🤡🤡
arrogant how exactly? he admitted he injured his hands because his grip was not strong enough. An arrogant person would have been making excuses. And just FYI, Tom told Eddie hall that he knew he was going to win. So... yeah. Be a bit objective and fair, thank you. Both of them got the same level of confidence, both of them thought and said they'd win. And i dont think any of them is arrogant, by the way. They are confident.
@@vanessaruiz4705 Tom didn\t make i40219410284 videos about winning, he started dropping a lot of mouth moose droppings also. There is a such a thing as karma, he lost the tittle at this best event
Good show. Feel the events were lacklustre though. Thanks for videos!
They certainly were mate!
Going to enjoy watching Mitch go on about his hands like Tom didn't simply outclass him.
I have a feeling he'll play the game and take the defeat for what it was.
Good to see a continuation of Tom and Hooper's rivalry. Seems Tom has become much more well rounded with his event training, do you think we'll see him win other big titles other than WSM?
That's what he needs to do now for his legacy status. He has the talent.
I think the results would have been completely different if Mateusz, Oleksii and Martins were there in shape.
Most of the top 10 not here sadly
Totally disagree, possibly 3rd may have been different but none of the 3 you mentioned can touch Tom or Mitch 🤷♂️
@@MattRhodesSportbut the top 2 were
@@mykiman5955 Mateusz, Oleksii, Martins, Hatton, Thor, Maxime, Some big names out
@@MattRhodesSportno doubt, but these 2 can't be touched just now over a full competition
Would have been nice if we could have watched it lol 2024 and no streaming
The product gets worse rather than better sadly
This tom vs 2018 thor vs prime z vs prime brian in wsm would have been amazing but different era😢
Fantasy line-ups always interesting talking points :)
Not sure hoopers hands would have made a difference tbh. Closer but same outcome
Yep and anyway that's part of it, if grip fails and slips, hands tear.
I am wondering whats the deal with the frame since hooper carried 880 at the arnolds and this only 730 and he kept slipping. I have carried 730 easily where the handles really bad. Also figure 8 straps why. My opinion is they should always be allowed. They allow them in giants live why the change.
Happy Tom won and it was great to watch the highlights on your insta stories throughout 👍👌
When Tom matched Hooper on the axle, Tom knew he could win then. Hooper is undoubtably the best in the world at right now at Axle with that awesome jerk technique and Tom had him beat psychologically from that point, it hurt Hoopers belief badly not getting that WR in front of that crowd and only matching Tom on the lift, is that all you got? I thought you were the best at this 😮 Tom must have thought 💭
It was a Neo vs the agents moment
Glad you enjoyed it. You summarise that important moment well!
Well, Hooper admitted his grip was not strong enough on the first event, he ripped his hands badly, therefore he couldnt perform to his maximum capacity at some of the events.
I think this had to be most difficult WSM for the athletes alot of athletes struggled so so much on the stones
I don't think it was more difficult than others years. The stone set-up with the long walk-ins to the platform was very tough to finish but I liked it.
Checked your stories and the spreadsheet just to keep up with strongman but didnt manage to get me excited a bit. New guys were good, makes you wonder how many hidden talents are not invited.
Wasn't the best sadly..So much talent that don't get opportunities.
💯👍👏
Thankes for watching
Congrats Tom. Mitch and Tom are the new brain big z rivalry. For the next 4 years it will go back and fourth to both men
Perhaps so but the fact Thor is not there will be a big shadow considering he already beat Tom at Arnolds as did Mateusz.
@@MattRhodesSport yeah, holy crap I forgot about Thor. I keep forgetting he came back. Definitely looking forward to him Competing at WSM next year. Can’t wait to see him at the Shaw classic either. That is a great event for him.
I am so happy for Tom. He is one of the best strongman of his generation.
3x now
@@MattRhodesSport There will be more. He might break Marius's record
Even though I couldn't see anything of the comp, except for those teasing microshots, it was exciting. For once, a well-organized WSM comp, in terms of weight and event selection. Very good competitors as well, with plenty of depth in the field, even if some major names were absent. Mateusz would have won 5 out of the 6 final events, of course, hahahahah. Okay, maybe 4.
He missed an Arnolds and a WSM where events looked great for him
Well done tom👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Mitch looks weird skinny
Good win
Could've been me but I was too busy having beers, sorry guys
Haha next year..
Ermes vs Kurdecha or Vitaly pls
i got the athletes right just not the order. thanks for the coverage
You are welcome. It was difficult to pick between 1 and 2
Great battle for 3 rd
Certainly was!
The show itself looked comically bad, like a school's sports day. The owners perhaps need to look at other organisers
Set-up - location was without doubt the worst it's ever looked
I hear that since 20 years and they never changed it to the better. It's a fucking joke
I'm getting a taste for arm wrestling. The woman are awesome. Thanks
Yes they are! :)
Would’ve liked to see Evan win, but getting on the podium is almost just as good
Still a long way off winning a major points wise but improving.
I think about Mateusz , he could be a multiple time winner by now if not for the injuries... He was very close to peak Thor, who was at that time oene of the strongest humans of all time. I am sad and upset about the injuries he had and the idiot doctors... I hope everything will be fine now he is a very nice guy and deserves every title. He is not just extremely fast at moving but also has near perfect techique for example dumbell press, but people forget that he is actually very strong statically especially for his athletic body. He even worked up his deadlift to 420kg before his injuries, i believe he could have a deadlift of 430 or 440kg in the future without injuries. Then he would be unstoppable.
Yep, best to never win WSM and Arnolds with so many 2nd place finishes against some of the best ever
what do you think Mat, wsm or Brian shaw classic?
All of the majors are superior to WSM now in terms of ease to view, athletes competing and events. WSM are the only ones with the big tv deals though..
@@MattRhodesSport thanks for the clarification!
I would like to see Tom Stoltman Lift a World Record Atlas Stone. And if He has the Record…. Do A Larger One…?
He has the record mate. King of the stones.

Job well done to Tom.. I'm looking forward to seeing how many titles he'll rack up before he steps away from the sport.
Definitely has more in him yet if the desire is there
@@MattRhodesSport Most definitely does!
Great events for Mateusz 🥲
Such a shame isn't it
Is Tom the first Brit to win WSM three times?
Yes he is
@@MattRhodesSport amazing achievement - Geoff Capes got it three times too didn’t he?
@@eelponna3145 6 podiums for Geoff, 2 wins
@@MattRhodesSport oh right - so Geoff had more podium appearances but only two wins. It seems like he won more seeing as he was such a big celebrity in the 80’s
Its annoying when ppl take a dig at the legitimacy of the line up and winners as if tom and mich havent been the most dominant in the current crop hence winning previous titles between them against most of those absent! And it also makes it sound like the other guys (who all deserve to be their on their own merrit) were just popping in to make up the numbers.
And for you armchair analysts Just being there and fit doesn't guarantee you anything at wsm as we've seen many times so lets just enjoy it and look forward before the debate starts going bk through the decades and delegitimising past winners because of who may of beat them if they had turned up fit.
There is a legitimacy to people's opinion because factually around 6 of the world's top 10 did not compete (Thor, Mateusz, Martins, Oleksii, Maxime, Hatton) and a couple there (Trey, Bobby) were not at their best. However Tom and Mitch are 2 of the best for certain and may well have placed top 2 with all there. The fact that many athletes got their first chance was a great positive for me. I thought they all did great and showed their high level. The selection process is still diabolical when half the invites are based on relationship or politics rather than achievements.
Well done Tom. Set up etc does look pretty unexciting and boring.
Thanks for you're awesome work with the coverage Matt.
Thanks for watching! Worst set-up in it's history sadly.
That first event really was the difference maker. Had hooper won the medley as expected, he would’ve had 5pts more and Tom 1pt less and Mitch wins by 0.5pts
And your point is ? Hooper lost because he was not good enough in the first event ! Let's only pick events which Hooper wins at ..
@@rickphillips5098 I didn’t say anything about selecting specific events for specific people… my point is exactly what I said… with the events that were selected, and with how the comp played out, if he had won the first event as he was expected to, he would’ve won the show. He was expected to win that event because it’s an event that he’s the most skilled at in the world. He didn’t do poorly because he wasn’t good enough. He did poorly because he tore his hands.
Agree, Mitch also would have won the deadlift if he could actually grip the bar. However it is what it is. Congrats to Tom.
Yep, the first event cost him dearly. It was a surprise.
No one finished vid yet
Hope everyone enjoys
Tom is lucky Mitch got hurt. Mitch would have had at least 3 more points on the first event and 3 on the deadlift so he could have won by half a point
It's not luck to be fair, grip slipping and making hands rip is a direct part of the sport.
@@MattRhodesSport Didn't Mitch win the frame carry at Arnolds this year ?
@@reallymysterious4520 yes, he's usually good at this, it was surprise his grip failed him here
@@MattRhodesSport Could it have come from overtraining on the axle that his callouses got so bad ? He says he broke the world record in training
@@reallymysterious4520 I really don't know mate. Only my opinion but I don't know why he pushed it so hard in training, seemed like too much.
Żadnego Polaka w finale 😮😒
No Polish this time sadly
Fake humble guy got humbled 😂
Yep
humble you mean like when Tom told Eddie hall he knew he was going to win? you guys are biased to say the least. BTW, I dont think either of them are arrogant. Both of them are confident. Your comment is, however, childish and out of place.
You said the stoltmans are cheaters now your congtatulating Tom, lol
Factually they were selecting groups and events with Colin. It's just a fact. I'm done with taking it as anything more than entertainment. We have other comps to determine the strongest person.
Tom Stoltman will be the greatest of all time, if he isn’t already. 🏴🏴🏴🌶️🌶️🌶️
Not even close to Big Z, go win 8 Arnolds and a couple more WSM and the discussion can begin.
Well done Tom. Had Hooper before the competition, but had a feeling Tom would do well. Great news. Another poor showing from Luke.
