Even though I'm just a hobbyist, I love seeing how people who make furniture for a living - like Jory and Darrell Peart - come up with all sorts of cool jigs, clamping set-ups, and templates to aid in their build processes. So much clever ingenuity!
Repeatably is key. It enable far greater output in a shorter period of time. Instead of producing one chair in a week you instead will create 5 chairs in four days.
That chair is sweet......but HOLY VIEW!!!! What an amazing place to have a shop!
His clamping trick with leaving extra material is brilliant.
That is a great practice, and saves you from getting into trouble. I recently made a stool with angled legs, and when it came time to glue up, I had no good way of keeping clamping the legs at an angle to the top. I ended up having to drill through the seat top and connect the legs with screws and glue and conceal with dowels. Not a bad outcome, but not ideal.
It's so clear that he's truly a master craftsman. The skill and knowledge he must have to be able to see all the angles in his head and build jigs for exact accuracy is upsettingly impressive. Watching a video like this is a great way to stay humble.
What a beautiful chair and place to have your shop. I love the “ if you think about this to long it will hurt your head”
Take Care
One of my favorite chair designs!
Mind. Blown. Don't know which is more impressive: the view or the chair. Wow to both. Thanks for the video.
Love the chair, love the location and guys! you guys are real artists 😊
This is so beautiful!!!! I’m in love the chair.
Magnificent idea to use templates to select wood. I'm always working around the knots after I buy it.
I am totally making one of those one day!
Absolutely beautiful chair!
Really beautiful chair!
Great shop story voice over Marc. Loved this bit. Paso Robles area is an awesome place to build. Woodshop game is strong here.
Stunning piece! Well done!
Absolutely Beautiful!
I can’t wait to start!!

Beautiful design & construction
Beautiful and I love the design..... Less is more
Those tapered bevel cuts are a great touch.
Beautiful chair!
I am really not a fan of modern stuff but I love this chair and that table you built. Maybe I do like modern? Just well done items!
That's a really nice chair. Love the beveled taper!
Utterly beautiful.
Beautiful!
Perfect... thanks for sharing

Bonita silla, i like so much that style of work! Nice
That is a beautiful chair...may scale it up to be bar stools on our new kitchen island. Thanks for the inspiration. Cheers from Canada!
Amazing! I wish I could learn how to work with wood. Maybe I will! Great chair!

This so good!
Nice chair great job 👍
Thats really nice...
Love this chair. Can definately see the maloof low back hidden in there, but it's like maloof had a (even more) modern baby and that baby decided to make a chair.
Build some drum shells!! I’ll rock’em!! 🤘 awesome videos!
That hard wax oil finish really does look nice
Nice!
I just got this notification. I haven’t heard from your channel for months.
Gracias
Marc is right. That’s a solid beard. Respect.
I flinched at the band saw cut in the back rest.
First time here ,really good channel and shop
Show, linda cadeira.
Excelente
That is an absolute masterpiece. Nice work Jory! And Marc...for helping...I guess 😏
Thank you!!
Sillón hermoso!, él y tú como unos son los mejores carpinteros del mundo 👍
Amigo espectacular silla. Que clase de madera utilizó
Cool
Perfecto
Does Jory need an assistant to clean his shop and bring him coffee?? Cause I volunteer. I’d love to see the magic happen daily. Lol
Nice 👍👍👍👍
Great methods, thank you. May I ask a few questions? How many do you make at once and about how much time per chair? Thank you
Good chair
رائع

Beautiful design!
A+ beard, A+ chair, B- help clamping :D
Would love to hear someone's opinion after sitting in it for an hour. And to see someone actually sitting in it.
Build one and let us know
I like that little rhyme, "Wood Whisperer Guild, for the full build." 👍
The problem is, it seems to cost me money every time I remember the guild! 😂
Awesome project! Too bad, I really want the template but they can’t ship here in the Philippines.
Wow great what is the measurement
Fantastic looking chair! Where does the name come from?
I first made a rocker very similar to this chair. I named it the Hank West since I was making it for one of my closest friends who had just had a baby Named Hank West.... When I simplified it by cutting out the rocker a also simplified the name and just called it Hank.
Hello from Russia,different work
Dobie!
where do i find the measurement of this chair, I wanna build one for myself
Im not a carpenter but need to try this one- Just to experience the design
Join the Guild and buy the plans
Woww
Hi. Can you specify the dimensions and angles please
I love the Hank chair but wouldn’t dare build one using a saw myself.
Nice chair. Not quite my style but still nice.
Damn, I love that guy. Shame he's not add aby new vid for long time :(
Супер!
one day, my parent bought a set of mid century modern furniture by drexel. i still have the large drawer chest and dresser. The drawer pulls are made of silver. One day I want to skill to build such a beautiful chair
And that my friend,,, is fuking awesome 👍👍👍
The jeans match the tools.
Brandon Gore gives it 👍🏻👍🏻
ha!!
I dont think Brandon Gore gives anybody two thumbs up for anything, he already used them on himself:)
Could you adapt this to be a dining table chair
You can certainly make a dining chair in this style, but it would be a completely different chair. As designed, it's a lounge chair that would be pretty uncomfortable at a table.
What was the oil finish used?
SurFix. Its a finish made by Festool
Anyone else notice the stack of routers at 2:29? One for each bit, so he never has to swap?
Not my style, but I love that figure in the wood.
Just curious but what does he actually get ($) for one of these?
Hard to say. The video does not convey how long it takes him. If I was building a one of chair like that it would be $500 to $1000.
Buying as a set I could do them for about $2000 with 5 or 6 in the set. It would depend on wood used and the exact nature of the design. I could do such a set in a week.
Who cares
👍👍👍👏
Hey Mark! When are you going to run some in shop classes? I’d love to spend a few days with you at your shop learning and laughing and actually building a project. Let me know if that is on the radar. I’d sign up for sure!
How much does one of those bad boys retail for?
Google hank chair $4k pmsl no proper joinery. Wtf
wawww
Seems to be a hard work, but so beautiful!!
Я тоже хочу фестул домино фрезер.
Did i just watch a festool comercial?
Well he was one of the guys in the magazine adds.....
just love their tools... thats all:)
@@JoryBrighamDesign lol people assume if you love festool that you are a sellout, I love the ones I have😉
Rodney Philmon yea, they are great tools. They are expensive, but if you build furniture for a living it’s always worthwhile investing in tools that will make you more productive. I completely understand for those who do it as a hobby and have a hard time justifying the price.
@@JoryBrighamDesign I do get a bit annoyed by the hobby guys that bash the professionals for "all their fancy tools" and "well yeah if I had that shop I could do that too" it's a free market feel free to start chasing that dream, maybe Festool will approach you at some point. Your customers base will let you know good you are. Anyways keep up the good work!
Pretty nice chair . I would like to know the distance of the legs please cause i have started a project with some of my friends
If you join the Guild you will get all measurements
