- People before the Truth Commission have repeatedly asked questions about Joe Mamsela, the man who has admitted to being part of the killing of more than 30 activists. Mamasela was one of the black policemen at Vlakplaas called askaris. So was Brian Ngqulunga
These hearings are fascinating, tragic, and somewhat cathartic for those victims' families and in many ways for the perpetrators as well. I've been to South Africa and it is a beautiful country with a tragic past but post-De Klerk they are trying to be a Rainbow coalition with all the problems that any country would deal with after apartheid. The TRC and Nelson Mandela tried so hard to reconcile their countrymen, white and black, that I don't feel it should ever be forgotten in terms of the need for Peace. What the ANC now is, in my eyes, is just another communist bloc, but love South Africans...bless them white and black.....God bless them.
Mamasela survived by continued killing his fellow ANC comrades!!
