'KAALUM POOVUM' is a design used in Mural paintings for decorating the border of paintings. There are different border designs used. 'KAALUM POOVUM' is on of them. The space between the design's drawn, which looks like a leg (KAAL (Malayalam) means Pillar), and the structure of the design, which looks like a flower ( 'POOVU' (Malayalam) means Flower), are the basis of this name. The structure of this design is purely based on measurements. This design can be creatively incorporated into any medium of choice once it is learned the correct way.
