I saw all 10 episodes and it was beautifully done. I speak Spanish myself but a little rusty at times. I watched it with the English on and it was still great. Looking forward to season 2.
Cool to hear, thanks! -Paeter
Loved it. This Zorro series has a touch of the Arrow series,(the lead reminds me of Stephen Amell) and Christopher Nolan Batman movies ( the background music, plot wise, the cave, the "automatic Tornado Horse Mobile" and the final rooftop scene).
Totally agree with your comments concerning Lolita's too modern makeup. I think some of her outfits (as the series goes on) are somewhat clownish, too.
Bummer to hear. I haven't watched more of it yet but I guess I'll "look forward" to her wardrobe. Thanks for watching! -Paeter
All, I am trying to find the music track where Diego becomes Zorro. I have the opening theme, that's not what I'm looking for. There is an instrumental segment when Bernardo is making the new costume and it's not on any of the albums. Any suggestions?
I had absolutely no idea that this existed, I'll definitely check it out
Yeah, I almost missed it too! I hope you enjoy it! -Paeter
Great show! Finished the season tonight.
Basically Batman--which is basically Zorro.
Nice! -Paeter
Show was awesome. We need to get the stats up so they do a season 2
In regards to your comment about Diego’s skills. From what I got,he seemed to be some kind of Spanish special forces. That’s hinted at by the “infiltration” exercise at the beginning. Later in the show his mortality is more prevalent as he gets defeated and wounded several times.
Good observation about the training exercise! I guess I didn't consider the nature of the drill as a clue, but that's a good point! And good to hear that he hits some limits later on! -Paeter
Great takes and a impressive review
Thank you for watching! -Paeter
I appreciate the comment that Diego hasn't reflected on his father's death very much. For a moral character like Zorro, I think that he would have done that. I've only seen up to episode 7, so maybe that will come in later.
sounds like a new plot
it is a great show
You're hitting the exercise bike? I'll probably start soon to. All that McDonalds is starting to catch up to me.
Yep! The Christmas season made all of my clothes shrink a little! -Paeter
Yup. I can't fit into my favourite pants anymore.@@christiangeekcentral
I enjoyed your view. In the Prime version of Zorro it seems like either they're paying a lot homage to Antonio Banderas's Zorro or they're coping it or a little of both. Some of the music and cinematography really remind me of Anotonio's first Zorro film. I was much moe rimpressed with Antonio Banderas as Zorro from the start when compared to this new version. It might not be fair to compare a movie to a series, however, as for character development, which I love as welll, Antonio's in his flic, I feel is spot on. I've only watched the 1st episode. I'll give the show a chance.
I seem to remember liking those movies but its been a loooog time! Thanks for watching! -Paeter
In my head cannon Anthony Hopkins “Diego” has those similar origin story.
There were some things I liked about it and some things I didn't. The female Zorro was annoying as hell I was hoping she would be killed off the series. Also too many villains, you have the tycoon in New York, the fake half-brother, the russians, a secret society to free California, the local yakuza. The governor of California should've been the main villain for this season but of course he was killed early. I really like the Diego / Zorro character hopefully they focus more on him instead of all of these side characters.
It did lean into the gender equality aspect. Not blatantly preaching about it, but many male characters die, while several female characters rise to power and by the end the main villains are women, most of which are amazing fighters, good enough to fight and kill several soldiers or fight on equal grounds (sometimes even beat) the top fighters like Monasterio and Zorro.
I didn't find any issue with it since there seems to be a balance between the "power balance". I just hope it doesn't screw up in the next season. We have a good thing going so far.
Thanks for your take on this! -Paeter
Please show us it. Please, not the trailer..
So quick question for anyone who's actually watched it . Does zorro stay a man or does he pass the mantle to the woman lead?
No, she’s considered a “pretender” and the real zorro spends most of the show fixing all the problems she causes
@martief1st ok cool ty gonna check it out then . Was literally just having a discussion a few days ago about why zorros not a thing anymore . Just found out about the show today
@@GRIZY28 Unfortunately Zorro does get his butt kicked by the female Zorro twice.
Your comments towards the end of the video about racial, and gender equality stuff makes it sound like the show Zorro is "woke". I think those are interesting themes to explore, however, if it's "woke", then those themes can become political. I also think that, based on the setting of Zorro, the "woke" themes might break the immersion of the show because "woke" is something that's come about over the last few years. I felt this way when watching "The Batman". Catwoman said to Batman something about "rich old white men". That broke immersion for me, because The Batman is set in an alternative world of Gotham City, and when I heard that line, it pulled me out of that alternative world, and into my world.
Yeah, I had a similar feeling about that Catwoman line. I generally don't use the term "woke" because it can mean or bring to mind different things for different people. As I mentioned in my review, the first episode of Zorro has the elements in place to explore those "left-leaning" themes if they want to, but I didn't think they were leaning in to them in the first episode and wouldn't be surprised if they didn't push them in the remaining episodes. I'll just have to watch and see. -Paeter
a mix of cheap drama, superficial political discourse, and terrible action scenes. The person responsible for the script proved to have horrible writing. Both Zorro with Tyrone Power and Zorro with Frank Langella, Douglas Fairbanks and Alain Delon have an infinitely superior script. The writing in this series is extremely superficial, cartoonish and shallow.
I agree completely
