Didn't expect this Tanuki to become my favorite Gundam protag, but here we are after episode 12.

Absolutely loved this show. I am a big fan of slow burns with lots of character development, and this show delivers, while throwing in spectacle, mystery, and heartwarming and breaking moments

Ok, I know I'm in the minority here but I think a lot of the fights are terribly choreographed. I don't think the whole of the fight is bad but one moment that keeps popping up. In Episode 1 we get Guel v Suletta and right before the big funnel showcase Aerial is knelt down, out in the open, and Guel misses 7 open shots. That is atrocious choreography and took me out of what should have been a great moment. I forgot most of the other fights mainly because I didn't find them all that interesting but the same thing happens again in Episode 11. The Witch Hunters have the Gundam Ur cornered and then it activates its epic super special kaioken x4 to break out of their GUNDARM Jammer... and then they just wait around to be killed while the pilot monologues about how their jammers don't work at Super Saiyan 4. Why aren't they shooting her? There's four of them.
Its clear the fights are just there to justify it being a Gundam entry and that the show is more interested in telling a character driven story. But, it doesn't do that well either. Besides Suletta and Miorine who have at least some depth, the rest of the cast has nothing going on. We spent 12 episodes on highschool cliches and filler duels and got one real stakes battle where only one minor character died, and he wasn't even likeable. 0080 tells a drastically better character story than Witch, in half the runtime, with more engaging mecha battles and it uses those battles to progress the story and characters rather than just having 'cool robot fight other cool robot' like in most other Gundam entries. 0080 also does more with its overarching subtext than Witch, that being a showcase of how war strips children of all ages of their innocence. It shows that with multiple characters and each one reacts differently. Witch also has uhm like corporate world is cutthroat? I think? Idk, it spends a lot of time showing shady dealings without them ever going anywhere.
I can't even tldr this. Read my ramblings if you want haha

Tbh, the series is kinda underwhelming. Too much superficial and too animeish. Now, the first episodes (Excluding Prologue) were... kinda bad... that wasn't a Gundam Series and now (at the time of writing 11 episode released) is starting moving something different than anime school things. To be clear, since episode four there was various subplot, still too fast and kinda taken for granted. It's a lighter series great for newcomers, and I have hope for its improvement, 'cause now is a pretty major disappointment.

Too animeish? Do you mean to LGBT and female for the main characters? That seems to be why most people seem to b**** about it

@@HieroPharaoh didn't make it that far but so far it seems to be the anime equivalent of a banger like nothing will ever be as good as the original series but it's a damn good representation of Gundam

@@leonabarfield1560 I do not like the tropes of Suletta and Mio as character (Too much stereotypes for me), so i don't have too much to say. Is a thing, but not something that i look forward to.

@@HieroPharaoh The episode was very interesting. tbh the second half of the episode 11 is also good. The post credit is good but too direct. To put it simply, there's no key to it, it's just like that, still being a beautiful scene. I preferred the death of Guel's father, having preferred Guel's progression to Suletta's. Personally I prefer this kind of situation rather than "the innocent girl who doesn't realize she has killed someone and smiles, to be called a murderer shortly after". That said, waiting 11 1/2 episodes has been a tortuous journey. I still think it's a good entry point for many who aren't fan. I might even take back all my criticisms if season 2 lives up to the standards of the last 2 episodes. Right now, for a great episode at the start (Prologue) and a great episode at the end, I don't feel like I'm totally into the show. Similar to GOW where the ending doesn't ruin the whole game (Despite being insufficient), here a great ending doesn't save you from a mediocre series. I'm ok saying that the last episode is a Gundam episode.
