#podcast #mixing #mastering - Jak na to + styl
Lauryn Hill did both too. Miseducation is literally rap and r&b
Yup
Facts
Super facts!!!
Lauryn Hill and T pain too
You’re totally correct
"FL Studio's commitment to innovation and staying at the forefront of music technology ensures that it will remain a powerhouse in the world of DAWs for years to come."
I don't use FL, but I agree with this statement 100%
Mixing wise I've felt like for the past 5-10 years that the Sam Smith & Adele style mixes have been the best. Sonically their stuff just sounds like the engineer took their time and the elements being felt are always spot on. Side note: Ali doing Kendrick projects is what inspired me to become a mixing engineer though. GKMC feels like the blueprint for me lol
So I’m just getting started with music production and my CZcams screen time average is like 5 hrs after just watching y’all on repeat. I’m 16 and y’all are great to watch. Thank you 🙏
get off ya screen and make music
Stop watching this shit and get to fuckin work
Man I love what yalll doing for the production putting a spotlight on the part of music that makes it great the very magic is the production so mad lovee
No one be talking about the ambient genre. Man. Thats exactly how you set a good foundation.
Man you guys are the best ! Always looking forward to Yall episodes
Jermaine Dupree pioneered the 808s on R&B records
hands down i love this podcast!! makes me laugh, teaches bout music, and happily pay each other out, but in the end we all here cause we love MUSIC
Pop has the BEST mixes hands down!
Forget just Audio, this is the best podcast period.. Three GOATS podcast... 🐐🐐🐐
Glad Max B was mentioned when it came to the singing & rapping…he fathered a lot of artists low key
This podcast is too good, and LJ is my guy standing for FL
🔥Fire hot as always🔥
I agree with Devvon with regards to Hip Hop mixes not always being great. It's only a few artists that stand out mixing wise.
Episodes are always fire when everyone is engaged rapid fire. Keep up the good work
The fl beta has been out for a while. Its super dope. I'm loving it
Bro that afrobeat and dancehall comment at the end was BIG facts
16:00 there’s 2 videos on CZcams of Teezio breaking down his mixing templates for both “Psychic” and “Till The Wheels Fall Off”. You can clearly see a lot of his work flow in there
bless yal thank you
3:13 “For all my urban folks out there” I almost spit out my water 😂😂
I have recently been AMAZED at how incredible the mixes are in a lot of modern Drum N Bass. They have some of the clearest, hugest mixes I’ve heard. Plus, they utilise basically ALL of the frequency spectrum. Not to mention how good it sounds on all systems.
That's nothing new, DnB has had the highest production baseline for years
Glitch hop. go listen to sayonara by tipper. most insane sonic imaging Ive ever heard
8:40 Bro really be using wild analogies as stun guns and it's super effective against Devvon every time lmao LJ's a menace.
once i heard devvon do the “IGHT, IGHT!!!” i knew he was going to snap since other daws companies dont listen to their consumers 😭FL GANG 🤟🏾
First off PROTOOLS 4 LIFE!!! Secondly, Protools is DBZ cause it’s the OG, Ableton is One Piece cause people love it but it’s really hard to get into, and FL is MHA It’s fire but the fans are just the worst! JK I love my FL people but y’all know I’m right!😂 Love this Pod so much been here since episode 1!🙌
New trap country sounds insanely good the low end on them trax are clean
Not into it myself, but some metal music has pretty crazy mixes
At 17:27 I already knew where this conversation was going lmfaoo
Gospel mixes hit the hardest!
I remembered clearly in the car waiting for my parents to come back from Sam's Club, I had the music blasting. All a sudden "Best I Ever Had" came on the radio and I never heard of Drake besides Degrassi. Shit blew me away, Im like wait... he's singing and rapping? Who is this guy singing sounding a bit like NEYO on this record. At that moment I knew the game is going to change.
I agree, dance, house and edm have the best mixes
I hope Slate Audio send Devvon a copy of the VSX Modeling Headphones. I’m hearing rave reviews on them. Would love to hear his take on them!!
Come on Slate!
I think Afrobeats are some of the cleanest mixes I ever heard
Lauryn Hill broke the mold lol. Sang at a supreme technical and stylistic level and rapped with elite bar and flow. Nobody else can say that outside of her.
Absolutely Lauryn was a beast Mc and a beast singer
FL Studio does allow you to use it as a plugin inside of any other DAW.....and Reason also allows this as well
Serato was the first Daw with stem separation but I can't wait for the FL version becasue Serato Studio is so wierd to use as an FL guy.
@UCFaMwwizp_sriL2YV7VC9nw Thanks what do I do now?
11:00 as whole, afrobeats is killing it mix wise.
OT, but asking the community;
Do yall send your hi-hats, percs, crashes etc. to the drum-bus as well, or do you keep em separate?
saw lots of famous mixers do both, i like the bounce it adds to the hihat, when the kick triggers the drum bus comp. but on the other hand keeping the hats separate lets you saturate the other drums harder without destroying the high end
I don’t mix my songs but I know people. Mostly I see them having few different buses like Drum Bus , Percussion Bus , Bass Bus if they have more thn one bass used in song.
I used to include them in the same group, but I just started separating them (bass, kick, snare, rim in one group) (hihats, open hats, crash etc in a separate group) digging it way better this way
Devvon was sick about that stem seperation lol
Bro I use Fl to create and Protool to mix. This relationship works these days...
I never miss an episode.
"Hotline Bling" peaked at #2. Drake's first solo #1 was "One Dance"; his first technical #1 was "What's My Name?". By #1, I'm referring to the Hot 100.
best i ever had was the first number one from drake in 2009
Best I Ever Had peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. @@Leroy_allen
I can’t lie. The mix done on “Coi Leray - Self Love” does it for me. She snapped on it but that song sonically is beautiful
Slepton and an underrated comment
Yall sleepin on studio one 😁
Lucky Daye/Victoria Monet, Dmile, and J kercy has been my favorite music sonically and feeling wise recently. Getting J kercy and or Dmile on the couch would be dope asf.
Ja Rule was one of the first male to get popular but Lauren Hill knocked the gates down regarding singing and raping. She was the total package.
We NEEEEEED Teezio on the couch!!! It’s a shame he doesn’t get more love he’s definitely one of the BEST mixers out there!!!!
Studio one is the anime “Kingdom”. Main character is always saying he’s going to be one of the greatest war generals.
Doja Cat mixes are the best in hip hop right now in my opinion. I miss the days when you could buy an album and read all the credits.
what u think about Caribbean mixes ?
Serato Studio has had Stem seperation since there 2.0 update in January and the beta goes back over a year. So, FL is not the first. Also Waveform 12.5 has it.
I have been using steam for years now in studio one 😊 so they are real late I think they need someone that knows studio one inside out to show them what they have been missing.
@troyd9695 I agree they definitely need some Studio One representation. Best all-around Daw in the game.
Mos Def sung and rapped on both the blackstar album and his solo album black on both sides. Blackstar came out in 98 same year as the miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Solo album 99
Teezo has always been one of the goats! I've been saying it for years! ...another underrated person nobody talks about is Bengineer Cybulsky (who's mixed most of the whole Tech N9ne's Strange Music label's catalog)
FL 4 Life 🤘... LJ's LUFS joke got my dying laughing 🤣🤣
can we bring up the fact that the korg legacy collection vst still does not load up legacy korg pcg files
20 minute mark im dead!!!
but I agree. everybody should listen an put it in the daw
Why is Cubase rarely mentioned on this pod?
Devvon the goat for saying Max B
11:49 I still do both but over ten years back this old head told me to stay in my lane cuz Im a singer. In the same asked a dude to ghost write for them. Mind you, Im way nicer than dude. So yeah singing AND rapping was so frowned upon.
Usher did it a few times on the My Way album and we let it slide 😅
My Wednesday’s would be dreadful without this podcast
People forget that we have Hip-Hop/Pop as a genre. Lizzo, Meg The Stallion, Doja Cat, Bia, Da Baby etc. pretty much H&M music. We should just say Hip-Hop and call it a day.
And CZcams did they thing I didn’t even see this episode when it come out
R&B Is Definitely The Greatest Mixing Genre Right Now With Teezio Doing Chris Brown, Saint Harrison Etc... Jaycen Mixing HER & Many More ... Jon Castelli Mixing 6lack, Leon Thomas Etc...
Muni Long snuck in an impeccably mixed album too
@@graykeyzmusic Looks Like Jaycen Mixed That! If You’re Referring To “Nobody Knows”
Not gonna lie. I’ve been pro tools since I bought 10 back in the day but it’s only for recording and mixing. I can’t do production in no other daw than FL. If there was a hybrid FL/Pro-Tools mode it would be game over
Tracktion Waveform announced stem separation in their 12.5 update back in May. Lol😂
I know I'm responding to this mad late but in terms of rappers who pioneered the singing/rapping style I don't know how Andre 3000 get's overlooked every time. He was the first
I’m using Pro tools Logic and Native Instruments
I’ve always thought the fruit on Fruity Loops was for produce lol
Blxst has said he wanted to be in that pocket to where the women love him but the guys can still slap his shit around the homies. He is PERFECTLY in that pocket if you ask me 💪🏾
FL GANG 😂😂😂😂😂😂 we here !!!!!! For ever
Fl forever goated
Blxst mixes a lot of his music!!!
I finally agree with LJ 😳😂😂😂😂
APPS DONT COUNT 😂 21:10
FL gang 🔥 Team Lj
Not the first but definitely the biggest. Serato studio had stems
Downtempo and Lounge Music
Two words from an old guy... Lauryn Hill ... She sold over 20 million units singing and rapping. Not streams, sales.
When Yachty said that he was “copping SRTs and doing Fruity Loops” I felt that
SeratoStudio had stems before FL... #StopIT that said... Image line been on one for minute!! Shout out to FL
Classical
Whatever era Bruce Swedien was mixing in! 😁
Afro beat songs def have the cleanest mixes to me
50 Cent sang all over Get Rich Or Die Tryin'. And that's after he dissed Ja rule for singing on his records.
They would hate me. I use Ableton, Bitwig, Studio One and Serato Studio. Depends on my mood. I don't have an "a" Daw. I'm a Daw ho with no loyalty,
In my opinion it's reggae and house. Jaguar 2 has a reggae song too so you could compare R&B/soul and reggae in the same album Courtney
18:59 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 The face got me rolling😂😂😂😂 Cuz its true. The Beta version of FL has it
"why are we letting FL do this to us?!" lmfaooooooo bro got tiiiight
Lauren Hill sang and rapped... Thoughts
Maaaan yall need to put some respect on Studio One name 🤦🏾♂️ its basically Protools, FL Studio & a few other DAWs combined in 1, do yo research & homework, keep up the good work from the Studio One Stallion💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Your gonna master us to death 😂- Lj
Easy, electronic music, hands down.
14:30 Dont forget about Lil Wayne - How To Love
LJ I'm going to help your watch hours
Doja Cat mixes be hitting different!!
For on y’all forgetting or just don’t know
And Devon should know cause he a fukin 80s baby but the whole singin and rap spiel was not done by missy or Lauryn, I mean you also had artists like Queen Latifah, and Nate dogg and I feel like there was someone else but yall forgetting the whole spiel of that was started with likes of ppl Teena Marie to some one more so like none other than Bobby Brown. He was first to have a bunch of hits where did both. Two this FL update bout to be bananas I can’t wait. I knew this update was going to Devon something fierce cause he not ready. We bout to have not only our own cloud and stem separator but we also getting an inbuilt mastering option too. STOP-SLEEPIN-ON-FL. Just when y’all was talkin smack saying it’s a toy FL steady slapping y’all will crazy updates. Lol.
its crazy how they look pass 50 Cent and Ja Rule
And Nelly
Digital Underground, specifically Gregory Edward Jacobs (Shock G/Humpty Hump) sang and rapped. Drake didn’t start no movement.
Serato Sample is the waayyy
Devvon ready to switch to FL😅😅😅
Dev losing his temp for s sec after reading the leak 😂
