- Fkry a gwan! This is an in depth chat with @Backpackingsimon after CZcams has demonetized his personal channel, as well as his 2nd channel with @FreelanceJamaica . My other channel @EarthlyEats was also demonetized last month, and after a meeting with the legal team at CZcams I was able to get some details about why this is happening. After deleting all of my "problem" content, my personal channel was remonetized, but for how long? It's a shame that we have to be so careful with what type of content we create, even though we are following the rules provided by CZcams. It's a messy world out there, and unfortunately it is the creators and viewers that get hurt on these unclear policies within the "advertiser friendly" and "community friendly" worlds. I will be updating as soon as I know more.

Because of you guys I went to Jamaica and visited Chuky and I already want to go back and explore many other countries these channels are nothing more than positive vibes I hope CZcams change their mind or that there will be some better company because they definitely need some competition! That's what's needed a very good competition. Maybe a group of people coming together to make such. CZcams needs to make communication easier, clearer and better. After this video was aired 8 months or so ago, it's a real shame that Chucky no longer wants to know Simon anymore after meeting a new lady. It feels like a Mokko take 2 scenario. After Matthew's situation with Mokko, I truly believe Simon will prosper just like Matthew has done. I'm glad Simon has renamed his channel to Freelance Jamaica.
Chucky seemed cool at first but the continues using the word super nice put me off. That's just me but seemed odd and annoying. 🙃

I REALLY miss the old youtube. There is a clear bias on what is allowed to monetized and creators aren't able to focus on content creation nearly as much anymore because they have to worry about any of the things that could get a video demonetized. I'm pretty sure the eventual goal is to remove small creators and make things as painful as possible so that big legacy media and "approved content creators" can be propped up more. I'm pretty sure its working too because I don't see as many small unique channels starting up. Whats the incentive to start a channel on YT when you'll just have to deal with the immense stress of jumping through hoops and penalize you, while being vague on what you are being penalized for? Anyone remember "CZcams- Express Yourself"? No wonder they ditched that slogan years ago...

Thanks for putting together this Vlog trying to make clear this situation with Chucky and Simon. Simon has had many mishaps and bad luck with his channel way before he even mer Chucky. It's like someone at Utube has it in for him. But really, nothing wrong with what you're doing, Lots of unfair stuff going on❗️ The world would be better off if these folks would spend time figuring how porn type stuff and adverts get unto Kids Shows❗️😊

I think the bottom line to all of this is TRUST. Deep down, because of certain things that happened in our history, some of our people find it hard to trust certain people. Our people need to learn more about CZcams business and how it works... When others are handling your money, and giving you what they feel like, it will eventually leads to problem.

Now I totally understand why Simon is considering closing up shop. Everything they film could be considered demontize-able. CZcams is shooting themself in the foot. Losing my favourite content 😢 . Maybe Twitter will be offering another way to earn off content.
It figures that one of the most enlightening and positive channels on CZcams would be harassed like this. I am so sad that I can't go back and see some of my favorite Freelance Chuck episodes. CZcams punishes creators for something they can't even do themselves. The amount of illegitimate ads I've seen here is unmatched by any other platform. And yet, those ads get accepted and are being shown to millions for weeks while these genuinely valuable videos get swept away in an instant. How is this fair to them?

After listening to all this back and forth discussion, the bottom line is ,CZcams needs to be more professional with there clarity. If you demonitize a channel, give precise reason/s why! Good to see you guys linking up and inform your fans though! Better than just dropping off the map! At least we know why! You are more professional than CZcams is for this! I suggest Matthew, Simon and a couple others combine for a Collab channel to pool your fans and help each other! The I travel for food guy and the lady who films at Mokko as well!

It is a shame what YT does to the content creators :( What i also noticed lately is, that my likes on the Ras Kitchen videos are gone. Now whenever YT suggest older vids I already watched, i click on them just to put a like on again.... weird.
Very difficult censorship regime to say the least. I'm with Matthew on the logo business of Chucky with the spliff in his mouth. It's a shame to have to lose it, but if it allows you to monetize again. Also I had a thought...Simon, I recall an episode or two where you and Chucky referred to "freelance girls". It might be possible that they are flagging this too. If they are taking the time to censor it doesn't add up that they will not tell you what is being censored - no one wins there. Best of luck anyway. I have been watching both you and Matthew for years now. CZcams needs creators like yourself.

I feel it's an uphill battle for content creators to please not only their audience but the advertisers as well. The advertisers have a set of vague expectations along with YT but the audience is there for entertainment/learning. I want to watch Mokko be himself, have a spliff and just do things how he normally does things but this might be deemed not magnetizable for various reasons (language, "drug" use). Almost impossible to keep the advertisers/YT happy while also not having to censor yourself or cut content out completely these days.

My ex GF was a community guidelines, policy and enforcement manager OVERSEAS for a social media company based in Europe. And I shouldn't say "was," but still is. Just, our relationship ended, so I tend to reference her from a past perspective. Something I learned from her that I want to share with everyone else. You never ever want to associate yourself, your content, or your channel with drugs, alcohol, guns, violence or behavior and or language that would offend the larger minority of people. There are internal guilty by association metrics that are tracked and used. Matthew's behavior on one channel doesn't shield him on a different channel. While you may not be punished, it can still impact you. That's how it works with social media. Never put out content that is going to be offensive to others. Make rules for yourself and follow those rules. I am literally shocked that Matthew would share himself growing weed. This speaks to his character, himself, regardless of what channel he appears on. Why would anyone do that to themselves? I've heard stories from my ex GF that such and such huge CZcams star was passed on for a big project on TV because of their on channel behavior at times. And this CZcams star never knew they were passed over. I know of a handful of channels on CZcams that this happened to, but I of course would never reveal that information. You only want to produce good, wholesome content. If you want to be the cool guy and glamorize growing weed to a younger audience that would most likely be influenced by your behavior, then you are very dumb indeed. And I really love Matthews channel. Myself, I am cool with all of this, but most people are not and that's why people get themselves demonized. Here is something else I want to share. She told me their policies mirror US policies exactly, pretty much. In fact, her team was made of up of employees from the other BIG social media companies. She said she has been on video calls with clients (advertisers) who said they did not want to associate with such and such because of their behavior in one channel or the other, this social media platform, or that social media plateform. When you guys sit down and have these discussions like in this video, again, it's shocking to me that you want to try and make a living, but, at the same time, glamorize this behavior to your younger and easily influenced viewers. It's idiotic. Don't do it. Let someone else demonetize themselves with sharing that type of content.
Thats really sad, I've been enjoying watching Simon's and Chucky's channel as well as RAS kitchen on a regular basis. Hope Simon, you find the motivation to restart somehow.

Edit out the intro with Chucky Smoking. Don't refer to marijuana by name... Like smoke a joint or spiff. And possibly stop all smoking in videos or referring that your smoking . 🤷🏿♂️. But I believe the intro of the videos are getting you strikes everytime. Crazy thing is I wrote this comment B4 watching the video and your saying the same thing. I also think that advertising is geared towards a younger demographic that might not be if age to drink and advertisers may not want to share space with marijuana content provider's or creators.

I would like to add a little insight to you both regarding the gray area and cannibus. Since CZcams is an American company, they fall under American laws (Federal & State). In the USA, cannibus is still a Scheduel 1 drug! Meaning it is harder than all the other recreational drugs. Even though half of the United States has legalized cannibus, it is illegal on the Federal level. Federal law overrides State laws! Until the US government decriminalizes cannibus, it will stand as a schedule 1 drug...that is the highest tier of drug classification in the US! Hope that can bring some classification to you both! Keep on making content even though you may not agree. If CZcams was founded in a country where cannibus was legal, there would not be any issues with the content! You both are Awesome creators!!! Keep up the good work!

To me its clear that it is the weed content whether in the intro or otherwise. What I don't get is why Simon doesn't get that. Look, for the time being just keep it clean, like TV. No spliffs in mouth , no excessive drinking, no smoking and no pictures of weed otherwise. It is possible for your content to be still amazing without it.

If the creator cannot benefit, neither should the platform.
I think platforms and funding need to become more diffuse to curtail the monopoly power that Google/CZcams holds.
The only way that this will happen is through creator cooperatives.
Unfortunately CZcams has become garbage towards its creators. Almost all channels I’m subscribed to are having this same problem and it’s not even like they are doing anything wrong in the videos it would be something simple or you don’t even know and the support team is non existent smh CZcams is going downhill fast

There are some very crazy channels/content that seem to be allowed and are monetized, so why not good content?! If I were a lawyer, I would certainly help you guys. This is crazy what they are doing here.

The more vague a rule is the more wiggle room the maker of the rule has. This is done on purpose. They don’t want to be too specific, think about how many creators get demonetized on a daily and weekly basis. This could be used to control their accounts payable. Easy way to manipulate things in their favor.

Hello Mathew, I've been listening to the struggles that you and Simon have trying to stay compliant with CZcams. My question... How can a small channel like me learn to stay within the guidelines? It is pretty scary when the creators I respect have problems. I wish there was a way to just msg you. But I'll appreciate any advice here too.
I believe the rules are so vague is because the advertisers change with what they find are acceptable. CZcams is listening to their income support of advertisers, so you'll just never know day to day what will be acceptable.

In Hindsight (My Comment has Likely been Deleted along with Simon's Video):- I did Elaborate on the Issue of Cannabis Display on the Channel - while Discussing the Difference in Laws Governing Jamaica \ Germany \ USA - and how it would impact the production of content. Well I see that very subject has come forth with a Vengence! Here is MY SUGGESTION - Create an Archive Offshoot Channel of Chuck's (Violation Content) - REPOST ALL the Deleted Content - No Production Costs Involved - other than a slight Trim to the Intro and "Glorified Clips" (as you mentioned here) - You're not looking for Monetization so to speak but more Like Archival Footage of Simon\Freelance Chucky for Brand New Viewers to see and OG viewers for Replay times past. You would spend maybe 10 minutes at most on a Repost because its Already stored on your Backup HD. And then Meanwhile ..... Work on Regaining and Maintaining Full Monetization of the Premiere Channel. Who knows this could Equate into More Views of the New (Follow the Wicked Rules) Content to be "Properly Edited and Posted".
