Hi Koushik, if the total interest earned in a financial year is 50,000 and 10% TDS is deducted at the end of maturity (withdrawing after maturity), will there be tax on the remaining interest of 45,000 rupees depending on the tax slabs?
40000/- (for adults) and 50000/- (for senior citizens) amount of interest gained on FD will be exempted as per submission of statment from bank with 26/S form in a financial year. Any amount of interest that exceeds these amounts will be charged as TDS with 10% on the amount.
