  • England captain Millie Bright and coach Sarina Wiegman are not underestimating their opponents Australia in their semi-final, instead saying they feel the home crowd is a distinct advantage and they have been preparing as they would for any other match.

@@abbielester5419 Not sure friendly equates to legit and it's 2019 last time England lost a truly legit match to a legendary USA 2019 Team (probably one of the top 3 ever tournament teams). England had just come off a long match with Brazil. Kerr's goal was offside if VAR was available and the 2nd goal a deflection. Australia played well though and taught England a valuable lesson, deserved their win but also provided some key tactical intelligence to England in that match. Australia will play the same way in the Semi Final, it's effective but predictable. England need to be aggressive and attack, get the wing backs forward and show that they are the best team in this Semi Final and have the best players, because they are and they do. This England Team are hard to beat, the hardest team to beat in the world and the Aussies are going to have to play at their A game, just to have a chance, if England play their A game, they will win, it is that simple, however England are currently inconsistent. England are the only 'winners' left in the tournament and have an absolute winning mentality and will find a way to win. Aussies need to win in the 120 mins, because if it goes to pens, the advantage goes to England, ice cold, well drilled, highly skilled elite penalty takers, watch the England vs Nigeria penalties and compare to the Australia vs France ones. Will be an amazing and 'legit' match between two 'legit' elite teams. Australia and England will continue to be power houses of the game for the next 20 years, partly with the boost of hosting and doing well in their own tournaments and creating and setting up a legacy. England will be World Number 1 team for most of the next 10-20 years in this new era and the explosion seen in the grassroots game, the professionalisation with the WSL and level of coaching in the UK.

When your up against major tournament winners and 3x semi finalists. It’s not just about your performances it’s about that experience in the big stage. Apparently most of the England team have turned off social media and many online platforms to get in the zone and shut off the outside noise. I also wouldn’t be surprised if there keeping to themselves back at there base. Even Greenwood has said there keeping contact to the outside to a minimum to keep out the external noise. They know when it’s time to focus. That’s what you’ve got to do at this level. And I think Englands experience with a home euros is also a major advantage for them because they’ll know the advantages of playing with a home crowd better than anyone.

@@paulchristopher8634We we’re both right. They let the media hype get to them. Mixed with the inexperience in getting far in big major competitions. Australia r obviously a good side but they thinking way to far ahead. Even with all the talk of a bank holiday in the semi finals. And all the interviews talking about the legacy they’ll leave behind if they beat England. You could easily see that England had won the mental battle. Tony is a tactician but Serena is as well mixed with her ability to keep that team calm and focused is what wins you world cups. Nobody was thinking about anything else. Even in there interviews it was never about the finals or what would happen if they won. It was always only about the next game. And you could see it with Tony during the match he was getting irate. Serena was so calm. And that translated to the players. The Tilly’s should not of been doing all those semi finals interviews

I wanted Australia to win because who doesn’t like a good underdog story? but mad respect to England. They have an exceptional coach (leader) who is pulling all the levers to unlock this team, but also graciously setting an example to the players on what it means to be a winning team. These players take nothing for granted, appreciative of their opportunities, respectful of their opponent (with the exception of Lauren James, but she’s apologized lol), and are proud to be English.
