Man, that car looks almost brand new! Absolute gem
So cool! I used to have a ‘66 Newport convertible with a 383 that I pulled out of an old collapsed barn. The owner said if I could get it out of there he would sign the title over to me. Got it out, patched up and running then drove from NJ all through Canada and back with my girlfriend. Drove it daily for years until I moved to a place with no garage and I hated leaving it out in the rain, so I sold ‘er off. It had power windows (including the wing vent windows), power seats, power top, power door locks, power steering and brakes, cruise control, power antenna, power trunk release and of course A/C (that didn’t work). What a great car that was!!
Never get tired of seeing old ,well preserved Mopars, Or Route 66, Adventures await.. Cheers
Love those big Chrysler wagons, full size and so much metal, nice find Austin.
Very rare wagon. Don't think I've ever seen a 66. Seen a couple of 67s and 68s but not a 66. My father bought a nice 68 back in the mid 70s
Love the 65 and 66 Chryslers ! The gauge cluster is the coolest part ! lol
Thanks for keeping the old Mopars rolling.
You find some nice cars. Williams must be the honey pot for vintage cars
@@OdySlim That’s just where I normally start at as I have friends here. But there are a lot of cars on the general area!
That is one beautiful Chrysler wagon. I have never seen a Town and Country like that one. Best of luck with this beauty.
Because before 1968 the wagons were individually labelled. This would be a New Yorker wagon not a T&C. YOU Could also get a Newport wagon as well. After 1968 all the wagons were T&C
Before 1966, you could get a New Yorker Town & Country or a Newport Town & Country. In 1966 and thereafter, Town & Country was a separate model from Chrysler. Standard equipment was a combination of New Yorker, Newport and Newport Custom (after 1966) items.
@@joemorsman6531 right. I new my year was off my a bit or two. I personally love the slab side bodies and the fuselage bodies.
Nice, Austin. If you want "Modern tunes" you can have the stock radio converted to digital radio/BlueTooth, with 4-speaker output as well as amplifier outputs and a USB port. Externally looks stock, but has very good sound quality
With that engine and fully loaded it likely has the towing package which included a larger radiator and positraction rear end. What a find with that engine! If you have trouble with starting, check the timing chain, Chryslers are sensitive to timing wear, it's an easy job and gets it back to running great.
That is a very nice car. The interior looks fantastic.
Always loved these wagons, so well-built and solid and it sounds so good, glad you have it now.
That is a gorgeous car! Congrats.
It looks nearly new. Long ago, I had a 65 Newport Towne Sedan, same color combination. I really liked the designs Chrysler was putting in those years.
That's a nice car 😁
WOW, sweet car! Well optioned with that big 440 TNT, power windows, third seat, etc. Neat personalized license plate, and love the decals in the side windows too. I'm jealous. C-body love!!!!!
Great looking wagon! It looks solid as a rock. Glad it found a good home!
That is so awesome and amazingly rust free! The power windows in those old cars go up and down really fast. That's good a/c too, when working. Some of them had dual a/c with a second evaporator on the ceiling above third seat.
That year is one of my favorite years for Chrysler full sized cars. Especially the New Yorker and Imperials.
What an adventure in a real “land yacht “. In the heat watch those seals!!!! Good luck!!!!!!!
All aboard!
Wow, that's a cool old rig you scored there, Austin. Looking forward to seeing your trip home in that beauty.
Absolutely sensational, my favourite MoPar Chrysler station wagon. Look forward to watching the road trip. MoPar or no car.
We had a '66 Newport with a 383 my Dad bought new after Mom wrecked the Buick. He was a Mopar guy after that. He kept that car for 21 years and it never had any issues other than normal maintenance. The mid-sixties Mopars were the high point of Chrysler engineering....they are bulletproof. If you find one that has been maintained they will run forever.
@@architypeone8646 what ever happened to it? Traded in for another car?
@@ObsoleteAutomotive He sold it to my Mom's brother, a Chevy guy, because he had always said, "If you sell that Chrysler, I want it." Uncle Joe drove it for a few more years and traded it to a co-worker for a Honda 750 and a Buick Riviera. It's probably still running somewhere out there.
@@architypeone8646 ah I see!
Very nice buddy
A Real beauty
Wow, I have never seen an old Mopar power windows work that nice. Such a beautiful ole big c body mopar. ❤❤❤❤❤ thanks for the videos.
When I was a kid our family had that exact same wagon.
440.
It had rear facing 3rd row seats with rear air conditioning.
That was a sweet ride!
@@romeoalphafoxtrot9517 I got the third row but the rear air would have been nice!
Awesome! Can't wait to see more!
love the ‘65-‘68 luggage racks - Chrysler and Dodge wagons came equipped with the 7-slot version and Plymouth models had the 5- slot type - tailgate assist handles and rear step pads
That thing is awesome. I love that it's got the duel reservoir upgrade on the master cylinder. I owned a lot of pre-67 Mopar cars that I had to upgrade first off 🙂
Excellent! You do come up with interesting, offbeat finds, love to see 'em. Cheers!
I have a real soft spot for wagons not gonna lie. I’m sure she feels like a greenhouse on days like this with all that glass!
@@ryanwitman8672 Me fixing the A/C has made this a very comfortable car to drive!
That's my kind of wagon, comfort, power, and style.
Exactly ❗️👍
what an awesome find 60s mopars. they were great
I learned how to drive in a 1967 Town & Country. It was an incredible car. Even back then it seemed so big that I thought it should qualify me to get my CDL! lol
@@joemorsman6531 Nice and big and comfy! Nice cars to cruise in!
That’s a nice wagon, Austin. Looking forward to the full video.
@@bradrichards6107 I literally have 5 hours of footage to go through. It’ll take some time but I’ll get it done ASAP.
@@ObsoleteAutomotive I understand completely. No rush. Have a great weekend.
Not a problem. Just put out ten, half hour videos, we will watch them! @@ObsoleteAutomotive
Probably the coolest car yet
I enjoy all of your content but the Mrs. and I enjoy the road trips most of all. Looking forward to the journey. I already know there will be at least one train lol. Can't show too many trains.
@@gasser66 I’m taking this wagon to New England as we speak. So will be more roadtrip content coming!
peak Chrysler. What a find. Wagons are awesome...the most metal, glass, everything, in the lineup. I love the fuselage era too, but the pre-69 are superior cars
Great looking wagon! It appears to have the optional front bucket seats with center armrest and passenger side recliner.
@@danielulz1640 That’s exactly what it is!
Thank Goodness that I am not as dumb as I look, but I am old enough to remember seeing them new in the showroom! LOL. @@ObsoleteAutomotive
@@danielulz1640 It had to have been so cool to see these cars brand new.
It was! I started to visit new car showrooms in 1960, on my bicycle. I made friends with some of the sales people and even bought a couple of cars from them in the latter 60's and early 70's. @@ObsoleteAutomotive
@@danielulz1640 That’s awesome!
Wow, another nice pick up. Really like the wheels, sets the car off.
So beautiful! 😍😍😍 Time when they made real cars! The golden age of the automotive industry! I just discovered the channel.... You gained another subscriber.
@@henriquem491 Thanks for subscribing and commenting. I hope you’ll enjoy future and past videos!
Awesome! Nice wagon ! I always wanted to run Route 66 !
that is one very nice land yaght!
Fabulous car, very jealous of it & your trip. Enjoy
Nice good old car !!
That is one bad ass wagon, beautiful I had a 62 T&C hope it goes well with you and that sweet ride❗️🙂
@@user-et5qs2en4c Love the ‘62s!
Dad had a ‘66 New Yorker. It was my favorite of all his cars, and I feel probably the best car he ever had. How in heck do you find these things? Auto envy.
My family had 66 wagon just like that except it was dark blue.
Sweet wagon!
L O V E that car!!
One of the last decent Chrysler
Station Wagons are called Estate Cars here. Unfortunately you have exported the S.U.V. epidemic here. I hate those as they are unnecessary on our narrow country roads. I have two Estates; a 94 Volvo 855 owned from new and a Mercedes diesel S212 . Great video. 👍🏻🇺🇸✌️🏴🇬🇧
@@Backwardlooking There aren’t really many true station wagons here anymore. Be nice if they were to come back.
Sweet!
Cool wagon 😎
Nice car.
I’ve never seen a Town & Country with the 440 TNT engine. I’m more familiar with the later models and the 440 was available, but not the TNT. I wish you well on a journey like this. Hopefully you have extra time built in, just in case of a break down.
Nice 😊
Gollly geez man and all you have is 5900 subs? Insane. I love this wagon!
im thinking they put relays in the power windows. They move fast. Dang cool car.
Are used to go with a girl in 1970s and her parents had a 66 they bought I think in 71 or two and it was the same color I’ve been riding a few times with them I had a 66 dodge Palero wagon at the time
What an awesome wagon!
Are those actual bucket seats?! Like the elegant center console gentle curves. The fabric and stitching and complementing color wow.
That motor sounds healthy and the steelies will be perfect. What do all those stickers tell us?
Look forward to your Route 66 trip! 🤘🏼
Seems like I saw one of those on the old Beverly Hills show lol.
It’s really a stylish wagon which fits NY better than Cali, like to see it out your way at a country farm or something.
@@Porsche996driver They are actual bucket seats with a buddy seat/folding armrest in the center and the passenger seat reclines. All the stickers are from the previous owner. I will be replacing them with my own as I travel the country. Hope to get the video done as soon as possible! Thanks for commenting.
Someone upgraded the AC compressor to the newer rotary type. I wonder how the car did with the AC running in the desert? Many of the 1960s cars with factory AC still had a tendency to overheat in extreme temperatures when using the AC.
We stopped at Pedro's south of the border on I 95 in South Carolina
Sort of those places
@@joemazzola7387 I’ve been there a few times. It’s a fun stop!
the taillight on the passenger side not lining up is bugging me hahaha
Austin - I imagine you can put the desired OEM wheel covers on those steel wheels.
@@randyfitz8310 when I got home I put on correct steel wheels with hubcaps.
I had 1 of these and sold it for $500. I could kick myself in the cahootie for that.
😂 Hi from SoCal don't you love the price of our gas. 😊
16 mpg is my guess. Had a 65, never a hill to steep or curve to sharp. 3 round trips to Connecticut from California, 16 was the total average.
@@NBZW Just drove through Connecticut in this wagon today. I was getting 10mpg on this CA to NC trip but the car had too small of tires and needs some carb and engine tuning. I can probably get it to more like 15mpg I’m sure.
@@ObsoleteAutomotive When we were making those trips, there was no alcohol in the fuel. You would be making the same as I did. For every percent of alcohol added to the gasoline, the efficiency is lowered that amount, water is also being added which further reduces the efficiency..I also had the tire inflation at 35#.
I would change a thing. Leave those rims on, its fits it well. What did you pay for her?
It’s a boat 🚤
I wonder what the paint code is and if it has been repainted.
This footage is take in California?
Я смотрю Остин принципиально покупает только Мопар?
What were the two toggle switches on the left inner fender for?
@@devandriggers8779 They appear to be circuit breakers that someone added. They aren’t connected to anything but I guess were installed to add some 12v accessories under the hood when the trailer hitch and such was added.
Where was that 1958 Windsor?
@@user-cx2hi5fb3t Texas. A fella took me to his place to look at some cars he wanted to sell and that was one of them.
dual air conditioning?
@@727100bear It is not equipped with dual A/C.
