That death sound should have been #1. You may not hear it as often as some others on this list, but it will burn into your memory. It's the sound that gave players LITERAL nightmares (speaking from experience) of dying in the game, before gravestones were released. That sound has been the last thing many players have heard from the game before they quit. The sound that makes your heart leap and makes you want to go lay down and cry for a few days. It's a sound that will single handedly not only ruin your day, but your entire week, and maybe even longer... God help the man playing hardcore ironman mode with a skill level of 2149 that I saw die...

I think for me, the Grand Exchange sound when you either bought or sold something was the most memorable. I know it wasn't on Oldschool when this video was made, but that's the one sound I'll never forget when I hear it.

thanks for this video. I quit rs in early 2013 and hearing these sounds really gave me a quick nostalgic rush. Recognised most of them easily even after years of not playing 😊

So many memories flooding back again, good and bad, all connected and held together by Runescape, the biggest part of my childhood and definitely the best part, having grown up in a broken home and dysfunctional family, nearly friendless, and bullied, I could always hop on (our memorable, Dell PC that I still have in my garage somewhere) the computer and spend hours playing RS, talking to others and working together in quests, grinding, pking, minigames, and be as excited and enjoyable the next day. I remember the shock I was in on my first account in elementary or middle school the day I got lured into the wildy and killed by 2 people, with almost everything I owned on me because I was too young and dumb to know how to play right and use banks, I cried and was like numb the whole day, just in disbelief, I'll always remember that and laugh thinking back to then.
I haven't seen it but i just know that Ice Barrage and Whip are one of the most recognizable :P, btw Mote Plox you are not the type of guy I'd follow because you don't pk or anything like it, which is what i love most about RS but the way you present this all is just working on me in a very noticeable way, keep it up bro awesome vids!!

I think it is awesome how you pretty much respond to every single comment to you vids, I don't think I've been playing the game as long as you but I did play when I was 7 in 2007 scape, only had black and mithril back then but now I'm getting up there! I will be joining your chat when I play later today and I think your next one should be top 10 "facepalms" or ridiculous/stupid things you have done or seen people do! I quit because all of my hard work from my freshman year of high school was practically deleted. I'm 26 now and it has been nearly a decade since I started this wonderful game. I tried old school runescape but I want the account I started with on the OS rs servers.
I'll never forget the great days Jagex gave me though. I still have many friends that I've met on RS that I'd never have met without the help of Jagex.
I think the woodcutting sound should have been #1, but great video nonetheless :D

Awesome video idea! Sounds are so awesome for nostalgic reasons :)
They are just so exact, while your other senses (smell, sight, touch, taste) are a lot easier to fool. Things can look like other things, and smell/touch/taste is just your body figuring out what compounds are in your environment.
But sounds... So exact, so different and hard to imitate without already being able to create that sound. Sometimes sounds send me back to being 5 years old....

I think Jads death is the most iconic sound. Being someone who plays with sound off Jad is one of the few places where EVERYONE has sound on so everyone know it.
I haven't played RS for about 14 years...but I still remembered about half of the sounds, haha. It's been a long while.

I'm in a fairly interesting place with this list, because I started playing after 2007, which is when these sounds are from, and many of the sounds I'm familiar with are slightly, or even greatly updated, because I started in 2008 or so and kept playing until a little after the clan citadel update. So this list was a mixture of recognition, half-recognition of a sound that's kind of like the one I'd associate with my time playing, and utterly forgotten sounds I couldn't place at all.
