Maximus is "stupid" - as in, socially awkward - because he's apparently a "low" charisma build; both Lucy and Maximus have a charisma stat of 5, and the effects are failed speech and barter checks. Furthermore, his intelligence is only 4. As for "when the bombs fell", they're just talking over each other. Lucy means when the bombs fell in 2077 during the war, while Maximus refers to when a bomb took out Shady Sands when he was just a kid.
Oh, I never thought about their actions being related to the SPECIAL points. That just makes me love the show a little bit more. I'll have to rewatch it with that in mind. I didn't catch the misunderstanding about the bombs. I just thought Maximus was taught that the world was okay until the bombs in Shady Sands. It doesn't make sense, but my brain is slow sometimes.
@@theladynika Also read up on perks and traits, and see if you can figure out what they have. Kinda fun. I.e. The Ghoul may have Gunslinger and Bloody Mess, while Quick Hands and Better Criticals may not yet be available based on the stats. I'm guessing early school (for Maximus) didn't teach him history, and Brotherhood either didn't teach history at all or some twisted version of it to serve their purposes. So I don't think Maximus has a full understanding of how the world works. Just me speculating though.
