  • We aim to have as many of our videos captioned as possible upon premiering and, for those that aren't, our volunteers will continue working on captioning them and will upload a captioned version as soon as they can.
Feel free to watch this in your own time. Neuro Pride Ireland does not intend to take down any videos from our CZcams channel- unless the original creator requests it or we have replaced it with a more accessible version.

Hi Vanessa. Thank you for sharing your story. It was great to hear you talk about such things as: being seen as high functioning but what is unseen is the fact that like the duck your legs are moving at super high speed in order to achieve this; the lists and sticky notes everywhere. I am also a highly organised person but ONLY because of these reminders. I find it frustrating that I can't just have one central list but this seems impossible to achieve; I too am poor at getting my point across even among friends or family which I find embarrassing and frustrating; I love cats too and have always found them a real comfort in my life (I am really lucky to have just one. My husband is allergic to them); I identified as well with preferring to stay in a hotel than in a friend's house and about preferring not to have friends stay at my house.
It's been nearly two years since it was suggested to me that I could be neurodiverse. It's been an interesting journey of rediscovery. However I often doubt that I am neurodiverse enough and so haven't sought a formal diagnosis. I would fear being told that I don't score high enough for a diagnosis and this would really set me back. As it is I find life a struggle. R
