[English Subbed] Aomori University's Miracle: Performance without music

- At the qualifier of 2018 All Japan Inter-Collegiate RG Championship, Aomori University MRG team was determined to win their 17th consecutive victory. However, right after they started their group routine, the music stopped abruptly. They kept performing without music, which means their score is greatly deducted for the lack of accompanying music. At the finals next day, they showed splendid performance to win the championship.

[Men's Rhythmic Gymnastics] Men’s rhythmic gymnastics (MRG) is a sport invented in Japan nearly 70 years ago. There are two variations of MRG, solo (where gymnasts perform with one of four apparatus) and team, which focuses on tumbling, flexibility, balance, and synchronization. Today there are nearly 2,000 men’s rhythmic gymnasts active in Japan, from junior clubs up through top universities.

あえて、無音でしたのかと思ったらトラブルだったんだ…。
凄い集中力だ!
もともと無音無伴奏の演技ですと言われても納得してしまう。研ぎ澄まされた演技に脱帽です。
ハプニングが起きたのに最後まで演技を続けたという事がほんまに素晴らしい。もし自分があの場にいたらと考えると、頭が真っ白になって体が動かんと思う…。しかも優勝なんて、凄すぎる。
男子新体操が好きやからもっとこの魅力を多くの人に知ってほしい。
私も昔選手でしたのでアクシデントは常に想定してますが無音でここまで合わせられるのは普段の練習の賜物ですね。流石日本王者という感じです

高校生の頃、地区大会の個人演技の音楽の冒頭数秒が消えてしまうアクシデントにあった事があります。意外と頭はクリアになり冷静にミス無く演技ができました。点数も最高点をつける事が出来ました。

They did outstandingly even without music. Their movements are in perfect sync from start to end. They should be getting more points without music, because it must have been harder with no beat.

言いたいことは判るんだけど翻訳機能がまだまだですね。YOUは単数、複数の違いが無いから貴方達と言うのは絶対翻訳機には出てこないし、2列目も3列目もちょっとずつおかしいでしょ。会いに来ることの部分も会いに行きたい と訳すべきで全体に
変な感じに成っちゃう。英語か母国語で書き込んだ方が良いんじゃないかな。

How nerve-racking it must have been when the music suddenly stopped, but they showed how hard they have worked seeing them completely synchronized even without music.

Aomori can do ANYTHING. The world could collapse outside the mat and they would complete a perfect routine anyway because when they are performing the world ceases to exist for them.

The music sudden stopped reminds me with my dancing day when I was in junior high 😂
We were competing, and we performed last.. I remember the music just started for a minute when it suddenly stopped. I felt panicked, so did my team mates but we continued to dance because there was no cue for us to stop. We started to hum the melodies of the song so we stayed in synch. Although we finished the performance, but sadly we only got third place 😂
So I really am amazed with them being in sync almost perfectly. The panicked they must felt, and the concentration the must focused on.. It's amazing 👏🏻
無音の方が難易度はたかいでしょ。 無音の美しさ。これって日本独特の感性らしいね。 そういえば欧州とかのドラマとか、映画って無音って瞬間あまりないよね。なにかしら効果音、環境音とか入ってる。 海外からも評価が高いのは、無音という新しい境地を切り開いた演技だからだと思います。 音楽に流されず、真の実力が試された貴重な演技だと思います。 真似する国や団体、個人が出ると思う・・・・だってインパクトすごいもの。

A few clubs in the US have started men's RG for younger students, but no colleges that I am aware of.

運営側の不手際で停まったのに減点じゃあんまりだと思ったけど、そうではないんですね。どんな原因か謎だけど。
練習用のCDで１つの曲に区切りを入れているものを使用したため1トラック分しか流れなかったことが原因です。

The music stopped due to an unexpected accident. (The wrong CD was used for this routine) That’s why 0.50 was deducted from their score.

It is practiced in a few other countries, namely Russia and Spain, but Japanese men's RG is unique. Look for international media outlets to shine the spotlight on Japanese men's RG during Tokyo Olympics :-)

2006年の高校のインターハイでもあってその時はやり直しだったかと思います

運営側の問題ではありません。AチームBチームともに大学側のCDに問題がありました。

Most atheletes would've probably froze or stopped presenting their routine if the audio equipment went faulty. This team was focused on their presentation.

I didn't know that judges were there to specifically rate the music instead of rating the performances of the athletes. How sad.

Well, they even have 1.5 point deduction for each member who is not available on the line up and only up to 2 members can be absent from a team since a team needed at least 4 members to be able to compete in national tournaments, so, that'll be 3 point deduction with only 4 members.
