My main ponds have my koi.
I will also be doing some micro pond and tub breeding of my barbs this year.

I've been working patiently, carefully on my 150 gal Tank, all the details; stones, graveled bottom, water hyacinths, potted lake plants, etc. Jeez, I'd like to live here myself! DIY filtration system, too powerful a pump but valve controls the flow rate. I ordered Shubunkin goldfish because of your love for Shubunkin fish and all the videos you have done on them. Your knowledge and superb commentary was the influence on my decision. Would love to send you a photo on my pond, but you have to know that you have your newest subscriber in southern New Mexico.
Awww thanks so very much.
I am touched by such kind comments
I do like my shubunkin goldfish and breeding them. I hope to produce even better than I did last year .
I would absolutely love to see your set up
So please send them
Sharing My 50 Successful Years of Keeping and Breeding Shubunkin Goldfish. This video tutorial is about maintaining healthy goldfish over the winter.
This was great, thank you!
Congratulations mate 😁 professional you are !
That mostly black and white one with just a hint of orange round the face is beautiful. Absolutely love that fish.
One of my favorite too.. thanks for watching and commenting
People would feel proud and experienced to say 5 or even 10 years experience but 50 is a whole new level of dedication to the hobby, and you take the time to share that knowledge, bless you brother.
Thanks so very much. I really appreciate it. I am definitely no expert but try my best.
Looking forward to seeing your next video.
Love your channel.
Thank you so much for a wonderful video and thank you for all your kindness and support you always give me I’m here giving love and support back to you hugs and kisses from grandma Sandy and Debbie
Thanks 👍🙏
thanks for the wonderful and amazing experience Chris, your Shubunkin Goldfish is truly super beautiful and no one can denied it, have a nice day my friend, like 58
Thanks so very much my friend for your continued support and kindness. It means the world to me.
Enjoy your evening.
Take care my good friend
I love the long finnage and variety of colors on the shubunkins😍 I like the summer is for growing and winter is for showing! You know Chris it is a wonderful feeling sitting and watching fish that we have bred in our tanks, and ponds also in your case. Very excellent, I enjoyed this very much💯⭐️
Thanks Jeff. You are a great guy
I’ve learned that secret too. With my koi, I’ll only feed once a day unless the temperature is low then sometimes I’ll feed 1 every 3-4 days. The goal is to keep them alive and healthy and not to grow them over winter. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thanks Amos. I agree with you 100% regarding a feeding. I don't feed my koi outside all winter long unless you become very active and I've never seen that yet. So even with this mild spell, they're still down at the very bottom. Thanks again for your continued support. Hope you're having a good weekend. Take care of my friend
@@stubbsaquatics6080 thanks! take care! I’m always looking forward to your next video! 😉
They are beautiful! you're doing something right! I like that you use sinking pellets to make them search for their food, I agree with you in feeding them once a day I can't tell you how many times I see people having problems with their goldfish all because they over feed them 3 x a day, great bit of information Chris!
I totally agree with you Greg. Goldfish are definitely a messy fish unless you have some amazing filtration. I wouldn't feed them anymore than that just like you said. Thank you for your continued support. I wish I live close. I would gladly drop you off some for your pond
@@stubbsaquatics6080 You're welcome Chris! Good shubunkin are hard to find these days, I like the way yours look, long fins and just the right amount of speckling and color
Thanks buddy
Omg! That mostly black and white one with just a hint of orange round the face is beautiful. Absolutely love that fish. The orange and silver one behind you at the end is stunning too
@@AquariumDailyUK fight you for it lol 🤣🤣
I agree. I really like that one too. You have yourself a great weekend my friend. All the best. Take care
@@stubbsaquatics6080 you too Chris, take care. Hope you and Sandra have a fab weekend
Hi Chris! Nice video. Thank you for your thoughts and experiences with Shubunkin! Like 40 and my support the channel!!
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it but a long time. Hope you are well. All the best my friend
Thanks for the amazing tips on your beautiful shubunkin they are absolutely gorgeous
Thanks guys. I hope some people really liked it. I do what I can. I'm certainly no expert, but like you, I like to share the knowledge that I do have. All the best
@@stubbsaquatics6080 For sure and you’ve got some real beauties and we definitely think it’s important for people to understand that there’s much more of the world of beautiful ornamental goldfish that just koi we love Sarasa and we love shubunkin and honestly even comets can be beautiful. We are pretty surprised at how our comments are developing some of them, May have other pieces and parts in them other than just common, but there are some real beauties developing, and will do a follow up on them soon…..
@@jackanddan thanks
I look forward to seeing how yours are turning out
Some nice fish you have there Chris 👍
Hope you're well.
Stay safe, and warm.
Thanks so very much Keith. Have a great weekend
They're all so beautiful and fantastic footage, too! Really like that little one that's mostly orange with a black vertical stripe from the tip of the dorsal fin. As you know, I don't have goldfish or koi, but I also only feed my fish once a day with a couple exceptions. Like you, I find it's better for the fish, the health of the tank, and also cuts down on unwanted snails. Great video, Chris! Have an awesome weekend! 🙂👍
Glad you like some of those. Tara, hey I like that one too. To me it doesn't matter what type of fish you have. It's as long as you care about them and like them, so I'm certainly not a goldfish or a koi snob as you know. And I totally agree about only feeding once a day. Take care of my friend. Have a great weekend
@@stubbsaquatics6080 oh no, I have *never* thought your were a fish snob at all! I only meant to say that I thought your advice was great for lots of kinds of fish. 🙂 I'd actually keep a few goldfish if i had the time and space for another big tank. I really enjoyed the video!
Oh I know.. I was just making a comment.. sorry for the confusion.
Thanks again Tara
... so clear water, beautiful and healthy fish!
Awww thanks Monika.
You have a great week
@@stubbsaquatics6080 Thanks! You too! 😘

@Stubbs Aquatics your welcome have a nice weekend
Good tips like this from someone proven over many years is valuable advice for sure.
Aww thanks Daniel.
That is very kind of you
Wow! see how u can learn a lot from the master chris...great sharing my friend and thank you for sharing your knowledge to us...
Awww thanks so very much my good friend.. so kind of you 🤩
Fish are looking great and keeping the fins in perfect condition on long finned fish can be a challenge, something you have obviously mastered. Hopefully spring and pond season will be early this year and you can get the shubunkins out before too long. 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it. I'm quite happy with her friends and I hope they stay that way. It's certainly hard to pick some of these ones that are going to keep. It's going to be a real tough battle come to the spring. Hope you're doing well
Hi Chris! Thank you for your thoughts and experiences with Shubunkin! 50 years of experience are not a few, watching them grow and select them is a fantastic thing. Good day
Thanks Marco, I really appreciate. I really enjoyed your last video. when are you going to put out a new turtle video?
@@stubbsaquatics6080 Hi Chris! Thank you so much it's the first part of the trip to French Guiana soon I'll put the second. A very special place for the tropical fish of the Amazon basin. I have to edit several videos as soon as I find time, I only posted the photos of the little turtles that were born in October, this year I had many eggs but only 4 hatched, perhaps the heat and climate change have affected the births. Happy weekend my friend.
Love your channel.
Thumbs up for this amazing Shubunkin Master instructional, and thanks for sharing
Aww thanks buddy. Really glad you liked it
These are some pretty big gold fish.
Thanks.. They can still get bigger yet...
Nice informative video Chris! Your fish are so beautiful it’s hard to pick a favorite. The babies are looking fat and sassy as well. Happy New Year!!🎉🎊🎏😃
Thanks Joey, I really appreciate it. It certainly hard to only pick a few of the babies as you well know. We all have certain looks that we're trying to strive for and that's forever changing. Take care of my friend. Have a great weekend
Your dedication, dedication, enthusiasm, and insight are shown in your work. Keep on doing great works like this, and there’s no looking back for you!
The way you gracefully pulled off the work - I am so proud of you. Thanks for going through all the hassle and making them worth it. Congrats and best wishes for a promising future.

Fantastic video 👏 appreciate the Knowledge and showing us . Thank you my Friend 😁👊
Thanks guys
Awesome video Chris 😄, I absolutely love your shubunkins . A* Grade
Thanks so much my good friend. 👍
Just got back home from Red Lake Chris and excited to see your latest upload! Great tip about overfeeding and I was guilty of this for many years until I talked to someone with tons of experience like yourself who suggested I dial it back to once a day. Fish are no different then people in regards to overfeeding and looking at my weight this morning on the scale I realized I may have over indulged a bit this holiday season myself 🫄😁 Cheers bro and no more pizza emoji for awhile 🤣🥕🫑🍅
Ya tell me about it.. too much bread, pasta and homemade pizza... Lol.. tried out for Santa but apparently the reindeer can only fly with so much weight aboard ..
Glad you had a good visit.
Welcome back south my friend
@@stubbsaquatics6080 Maybe then just tryout for Mall Santa, no weight restrictions 😂 Thanks and nice to get back into a routine!
Well done! The fish look great
Thanks
Great video Chris!! Very informative!

Hello Chris, happy new year again and looking at how healthy the fishes are and how clean the tanks are, your experience really does show. ThanKs for sharing such valuable information and hope you had a good weekend. Please have a good week♥

Beautiful fish Chris, you must do something right. Here people keep them outdoors all year.🙂👍
Thanks I appreciate it.
I use to keep them in my koi ponds then I re introduced koi a few years back so I took them out and sold off most. They were even bigger .
Absolutely fecking awesome video Chris my Canadian twin 🧁💯👌👍👍👍
Thanks buddy..
Lots of culling to do yet .
Frog heads 🐸

Great info
Thanks Rob. Hope you're doing well. Looking forward to your next video. Any more plants hahaha
I'm doing better and starting to get a bit more movement. Hurts like hell when my therapist stretches my arm in ways it doesn't want to go lol.
I know that feeling after mangling both my arms several times
Take care
Those are beautiful!...just thinking...a second tank connected with water tunnel with strainer and powerhead would allow a tank full of plants to help with nitrates.
Thanks Didi.I wish I had the space
I guess I could set something up underneath.. I do have plants in my hang on back filters that really help.
I appreciate the great advice and the support
👍👏👏😍素晴らしいです。
Thanks so very much 😊
Happy New Year! ︎
And to you take care
Chris this is outstanding. They look so healthy it’s unreal! I’m curious could they live outside all year in your zone?
Where you are... No problem.. they can live here too.. my koi are in the deep ponds... These guys would need 3 feet of water here... Probably only 2.5 where you are and they would be fine
@@stubbsaquatics6080 I seriously think this video should be a staple on shubunkin care. It covers everything. Excellent man.
@@northeasthardytropicals541 thanks so very much
I agree, the Shubunkins are beautiful, I love the long fins. Stupid question, are fry baby shubunkins?
Hi Linda ..
Thanks for your support and comment
No stupid questions here..Fry are baby fish...
Thanks glad you like them
Beautiful fish! How long do these guys live on average?
Hi my friend.
They should live about 12 years or a bit older..

How many shubunkins can live in 200 liters in adulthood?
Hi Jose.
Hope you are doing well.
If they are full grown and you plan on feeding them daily and you have good filtration I would think you could keep 3 maybe 4 depending on size
I keep 6 in a 90 gallon but they go into a pond for half the year
Happy New year mate 👍👍🫡 I know it's abit late but just catching up you know how it goes man all the best for 20-23 ❤ ya man and keep up the fantastic work your doing bringing fantastic content and great vids all the best my good friend GAZ CRAMBO 🫡👍👍👊
