I think Indian automakers like TATA motors and MAHINDRA will have to close there business in INDIA if the chinease companies are not boycotted, it will be just like indian smartphones market dominateD by REDMI, OPPO, VIVO

Big difference. Chinese mobiles were being re-branded and sold as Indian phones, the Chinese manufacturers figured out what these "Clever Indian Promoters" were doing and took over the distribution and market. Govt put up tariff barriers, helped Indian companies and forced the Chinese companies to invest and manufacture here. Money stayed within India, Investment brought in capital from abroad, employment was generated, government collects taxes and technology was available at low cost to consumers. These Chinese phones saved Indians from American prices. Indian consumer had more money left over and resulted in higher quality of life from them.
Tata and Ashok Leyland do not assemble but manufacture goods and can catch up. If they do not compete with International players you'll be left with Premier Padminis and Ambassadors which did not change model or improve for almost 3 decades. I don't think we'd like that too much. TATA improved its products once they started competing in the late 90s and 2000s. Our companies will catch up and compete, Nothing to worry.
