    Thanks for the reply! Better luck next time I guess. My wife and I are big fans of your magazine and show. We buy every issue and love it! We know how much hard work you guys put into it!
    We are actually publishers ourselves but on a much smaller scale. We do a community magazine called Neighborhood News and Lifestyles here in the tampa bay area. Between our 5 markets we direct mail 88,000 copies per month and usually do about 200 pages between all of them on 60# gloss text #3 so its actually something nice looking that comes in the mail.
    After watching all your videos I can honestly say it's helped me a lot fishing. I'm 25 so I have some time to save up but after seeing your SeaVee i'm positive that will be our next boat! Thanks again for all you guys do!

      Florida Sport Fishing One question. Would a penn international and a calstar GFTR-765M be a good combination for 110 pound sailfish, tuna, and marlin.

    • @FloridaSportFishing
      @FloridaSportFishing  Před 9 lety

      +GS Nozer A size 20 Intl is perfect for sailfish while a 30 or 50 size would be better suited for billfish/tuna. - Capt Mike

    I've got a 20ft Flats boat, and I wouldn't mind getting out and giving this a shot on a calm day...How do ya'll decide where you are going to start your drifts? Do you just run out until 250-400ft and fish the water column? I'm just not sure where I should run to.

      Look for clean blue water with the presence of birds, bait, weediness etc. Key depth for sailfish is 80 to 180 ft. - Capt Mike

  • @redpeperjack972
    @redpeperjack972 Před 9 lety

    Hey, how do you find where to catch sails, do you have a certain spot or just go to a certain depth and drop lines?

    • @FloridaSportFishing
      @FloridaSportFishing  Před 9 lety

      RedPeperjack Excellent question, sometimes they appear when you least expect them to, however in most cases we're fishing 70 to 300 ft of water, with 90 to 180 the "real" zone from Miami to Palm Beach. Clean blue water is a must and current is key, if things are just sitting still, no good. The presence of bait and/or birds are also great indicators. Thank you for watching. - Capt Mike

    • @FloridaSportFishing
      @FloridaSportFishing  Před 8 lety

      Yes, we freeline baits on the surface with no weight and often fish a couple of deeper baits with 1 to 12 oz. depending on bait size, depth, current, targeted species, etc. - Capt Mike

    Hello my name is Suzie and I'm 14 years old I LOVE fishing from freshwater to salt water. I especially love surf fishing and I have never had the oppurtunity to go sport fishing I almost did but we had too many people in my group so we couldn't go on the charter. My question is do you think that I would be strong enough to reel in one of those big fish? I know or atleast beleive that these fish fight strong so do you think a girl my age could do it.

    Awesome video Captain, what size circle leaders/hooks were you using? I just bought a 21ft. tidewater and I'm new to boating and fishing. Thanks

    • @FloridaSportFishing
      @FloridaSportFishing  Před 10 lety +1

      Hi Jose, when you are specifically targeting sailfish, leader should be 6-10 ft. and can be as light as 40 lb or as heavy as 80 lb. 50 or 60 is perfect. Hook size is relevant to bait size/type with 4/0-6/0 ideal for pilchards/herring/sardines and 7/0-10/0 better suited for goggle eye and blue runners. - Capt Mike

    Hey Captain Mike, I trailered the boat over from Tampa and was just fishing here about 2 weeks ago and we had no luck. Just a few small blackfins. We saw a huge sail jump next to our boat but no hookups. What month is best for sails...I've tried a few times and still never caught one lol

    • @FloridaSportFishing
      @FloridaSportFishing  Před 10 lety

      Hi Matt, truthfully you can catch a sailfish during any month of the year with the winter months of course marking peak season. Really though, if I had to pick one month it would be April. - Capt Mike

    So what’s a better leader for sailfish? 40# fleuro or 40# wire? I would think King’s would bite through that fleuro and that sailfish wouldn’t go near wire?

    • @FloridaSportFishing
      @FloridaSportFishing  Před 6 lety +2

      When specifically targeting sailfish, we fish 40 lb Diamond Presentation flouro. With circle hooks, you'll occasionally catch a king in corner of mouth but expect to get cut off. With wire, you'll catch the kings and the sailfish will also bite the wire but not as good as flour. Its a trade off. - Capt Mike
