    my uncle had one of these when I was a kid and man.. I couldn't even go passed 3/4 throttle cuz the windshield was bending down and smashing my goggles into my face 😄 most bad ass machine I ever ridden. sure wish polaris kept these going!

    Betting the record isn't much higher today....
    I watched a T-Cat video earlier today where a bunch of people didn't think an XCR 800 had the umpf...
    Little clutching, make sure jetting is spot on, the Polaris runs!

      i don't know about speed runs but if we're being honest, xcrs did bring home much hardware from the grass and ice grags. mach zs and zerts did the most damage in those classes. i do remember xc 6 and 700s reeking havoc for a few years.

      I had an '03 Polaris 800XCR. I had reverse AND electric start (YES-It can be done with a gel battery, and an extra key switch with a "start" position!). Even with the weight gain and power loss of the reverse gear, it FLAT ASS FLEW!! Had the dealer relocate a few holes in the tunnel for the suspension "adjustment", and it would hook well enough with 144 picks that it would take an F7 in 660'&1000' runs. After 1000', I never lost to anything. Was it the fastest machine ever? Certainly not. Was it the fastest "stock" machine I ever owned? Certainly was!! By a huge margin. It would pick the skis up at 70mph!! Like a DAMN FOOL, I sold it in the 2008 "Great Recession". Whatta powerhouse sled. Loved it. I raced the F7 in 2004 on Otsego Lake, near Gaylord, Michigan. I beat a ZRT at a race on Otter Lake, Michigan. He was bragging how he clutched it, had a different gear, had more picks than the rules allowed, etc. Then he looked up at me with an "oh shit" look, and asked "You aren't running, are you"? I said "Yeah, but I don't care, and won't narc on you. It's all good fun. We'll, I beat him good the first race, at least 3 machine lengths in 1,000 feet. 2nd race we switched lanes. Looking down from a drone, I beat him when I had the lane to his right. When we switched, he was on MY right. I was ahead, but had to let off because the skis were in the air, and I was torque steering into his lane, pulling to my right, so I had to blip the throttle to steer back away from him. The 3rd race we kept the same lanes, and I torque steered again, but I was ahead until then. That's cool. I got runner-up. But-HE knew my sled would take him, because I was beating him all 3 races, and did win the first. My sled had stock clutching and gearing, plus the weight of the electric starter, battery, and the weight of the reverse gear and linkage, plus the slight power loss of the reverse gear. I’ve heard some XCR 800s don't run that well. I must've gotten one with a really good motor, I don't know......

      My 96 xcr with 10,000 miles used to stay side by side with my old mans brand new 05 f7 diamond drive no problem.

    I use soap or some fluid that is good for the environment. It's to keeps the slides and track slick when going down a shaved track

    what was in the bottle being sprayed under the slides?

    • @novaman3509
      @novaman3509 Před 7 lety +1

      rpmmustang89 Some kind of lubricant. The track slides on plastic guide rails called Hifax, usually lubricated by snow.
      In this case, the snow was packed down, so it wouldn't be lubricating the Hifax.
