Tool is an American rock band from Los Angeles. Formed in 1990, the group's line-up includes drummer Danny Carey, guitarist Adam Jones, and vocalist Maynard James Keenan. Justin Chancellor has been the band's bassist since 1995, replacing their original bassist Paul D'Amour. Tool was described by Patrick Donovan of 'The Age' as "the thinking person's metal band. Cerebral and visceral, soft and heavy, melodic and abrasive, tender and brutal, familiar and strange, western and eastern, beautiful and ugly, taut yet sprawling and epic, they are a tangle of contradictions." In March 1992, Zoo released the band's first effort, 'Opiate'.

Pneuma (πνεῦμα) is an ancient Greek word for “breath”, and in a religious context for “spirit” or “soul”. This song is a vivid reminder to us that being a human is not bound to the physical being. We are one word, we are “one spark beyond this flesh”. Also, this “Pneuma”, soul, spirit or breath is much more important than what we see and experience physically, as in the first lines we are asked to acknowledge it. Then further in the lyrics we “Children” as in innocents or ignorant about such an important concept, are asked to open our eyes to realize this wonder, to see the big picture, our spirits. This concept is indeed not new to Maynard’s lyrics throughout his career.

The album’s troubled history started after the tour cycle for '10,000 Days' ended with the band facing multiple personal, creative, and legal issues. The problems lasted up until 2018 when it was revealed that the band was in the studio and then the album’s mixes were finally completed in early 2019. During their show at Welcome to Rockville, they performed two brand new songs called “Descending” and “Invincible”. Following these shows, the band started their pre-release album tour where fans were able to notice a date for the album’s possible release date of August 30, 2019, which was later confirmed by the band’s vocalist Maynard James Keenan. The album title was finally announced on July 29, 2019, and it was later announced that the band’s entire catalog will finally be available on streaming sites later that week after years of being one of the few artists to not join the streaming age of music.
In July 2019, when the album’s title 'Fear Inoculum' was first announced, the word "inoculum” was the most searched word on the online Merriam Webster Dictionary.
Keenan explains his interpretation of the title’s meaning:
"It’s definitely a polar statement. It could be someone who’s been inoculated by fear. And that’s the only thing they know."
Drummer Danny Carey also gives his interpretation of the album’s title and the meaning of the album as a whole:
"I suppose the main overview of it is getting older and more comfortable with yourself […] It’s kind of an evolution in that way, getting through and getting over criticisms and our fears of various kinds, I suppose."

One foot nailed down to the crux of the earth. Unable to fly free as the pneuma in our lungs. One breath upon which the word is spoken, consonant and vowel, particle and wave.
I did not realize tool was considered progressive rock, but it makes total sense, why this van reminds me so much of Rush, because tools drummer, Danny Carey is one of the best, right up there with Neil Peart, his feet are so intricate, and so complicated just phenomenal.
Yeah made me think twice saying Tool is Progressive Rock. That's Villagers of Ioannia City. Tool was alt rock. Are they progressing me, or just alternating children's currency?
I'm old now and this is the only band I would make a serious effort to see if ever near Atlanta

Album saved me when I was in such low place in my life. I'd rather be inoculated against fear than by it, as we witness[ed] so many give in to their fear. Fear is the mindkiller.
I think it's funny how in the Puscifer's song Apocalyptical he makes such a mockery of everyone losing their collective minds over toilet paper.
It sounds beautiful with all the complexity in it, truly a masterpiece.

😮😮The beginning statement says "270,000 units" sold.. Actually the "units" refers to an online music download platform that the band had an agreement with... The actual CD with cover was only released in stores for purchase in a very limited quantity of CD'S per store across America and the stores sold out in the first 5 minutes of sales.. Tool wanted the CD to be rare and increase in value!

Did you watch her first upload? Did the watermark bother you there too? Or was it more than just one person with an irrelevant criticism that got comments shut off?
She seemed to care about your opinion back then. I hope she got wise early and pursued her passion without you. She has shown more potential in her first video than I have shown in most of my old gaming vids.
This video is significant though. She made a lyric video of a Tool song. This video is an artifact now. They're not common, for good reason. My perception as to why is that Tool fans respect the precision of Tool's music so much that they religiously criticize most of their own work into oblivion, instead of just releasing it.
Giselle got the potential attention of a lot of Tool fans who are also struggling artists. We're breaking through with the algorithms. We will appreciate Giselle's content a lot more than your limited perception of reality.

It's a interesting lyrical interplay! The word Pneuma in Greek means "Holy Spirit." There's a lyrical line "One Word" which could be a reference to the Greek word "Logos" and that is referencing to that Christ is the word and the word became flesh; the introduction of the book of John. The other lyrical line "born of one breathe" could be a reference to the book of Genesis and the lyrical "We are all one spark" a Genesis reference. The line "sun becoming" is written to mean the literal Sun but when I hear the song it sounds like the lyrics should say "Son becoming" meaning Christ Jesus. This song is Christian in every way!
