unfortunately it isn't very well advertised/ respected that your parents are meant to make up the difference between the max student loan and what you get. sadly this means loads of students are struggling for money :(

I have a question - letâs say you start uni , and within like 2-4 months you decide to leave, what happens to the money that youâve borrowed from the government (honestly I have no idea if youâll be able to answer this question because idk whether youâre well off or not)
Carla Silva because you pay per term, if you left after one term youâd only have to pay back however much maintenance loan/tuition loan you borrowed for that term
I did maths & further maths a level and ended up doing a business apprenticeship aha so it really doesnât matter what subjects you choose x

iâm getting like ÂŁ9,000 student loan and my rent for the year comes to ÂŁ5,600
Just finished my first term doing English and American Literature, currently watching this instead of doing my assignments! đ ngl I have struggled to find a solid group of friends despite trying with flatmates, course mates and the society I joined, even at my new part time job, everyoneâs nice we just havenât clicked. On a plus side i manage my money a bit better not going out đ but yeah, anyone got any advice?x
claire ward I had the same problem in my 1st year. So instead of going into a house with people I wasnât friends with I went back to halls and it was the best decision I ever made. I now have a close group of friends and weâre all got a house for next year. So Iâd advice not just jumping into a house for the sake of moving out if youâre not 100%.

Katherine Davies I have a friend who is also doing this! She didnât have anyone she felt comfortable enough to move into a house with! I think itâs so good that itâs still an option :)

Stupid question, if you canât find anyone to house share with whatâs the plan đ
Emilys reborns I know people who are living in halls again, or are even commuting from home if they live close enough (but I know that this is obviously not an option for most people!). But second years can still live in halls, I have a friend who is doing that!
But I think most people just end up house sharing with their flat from first year, so if you are staying in halls in first year, then youâre pretty much guaranteed to have people to live with.
Also, if you donât mind living with strangers, thereâs always Facebook pages where people are advertising rooms, so you could always live with them! If you talk to them beforehand, you can figure out whether theyâre your type of people/whether you get on with them, before you commit to living with them, or you can always meet up with them to see! Obviously I know that not everyone is comfortable with living with people they donât know very well who they just found on a Facebook page, but thatâs always an option too. I hope this helps!
