EnergeNIK and I played Elden Rings seamless coop together while she taught me a lot about Elden Ring. This was mainly just an excuse to game together but I did actually learn a lot from Nik!

The trick is to not start with Tree Sentinel or Margit. Explore basically anything else in Limgrave and come back for them after a couple of hours. The rest is gonna sort itself out. There is no shame in googling stuff if you don't know how to progress, it's not always obvious in Soulslike games.
As for the DLC, if you're good enough to beat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg Lord of Blood, then you are ready for the DLC. I would still consider Malenia the hardest boss in the game and she is not part of the DLC. But I played with 60 Vigor and a Brass Shield (except when a two-handed approach was more strategic), so that might be why I found it smooth. If you summon spirit ashes and/or other people, it's gonna be even smoother.
I must be a pro because I have way over 800 hours by now on elden ring alone let alone the rest of the series
South of Gurranq there are enemies worth 1000 runes each. In Selia there is a spell that enemies don't dodge. There are some mini bosses you can take out with the Poison mist and enough blue flasks.
The amount of times I went to Gurranq, literally every time I was close to a new level. But Shadow Keep Storehouse Seventh Floor smacks it completely, assuming you have a way of dealing with the red hooded fella. It seems that the rune gain from the DLC doesn't increase with NG+ though, so at NG+7 Gurranq's place might be better again lol.
