  • I had a chance to visit with my fellow NASCAR on Heavy writer Kat Pitre and we talked about a variety of topics, including charter negotiations, the escalating Kyle Larson-Denny Hamlin rivalry, Hailie Deegan's uncertain future, and what we might expect this weekend racing through the streets of Chicago.

Also to have a rivalry you need the other person to participate, which we finally have now with Larson after Nashville

Hamlin doesn’t claim these cars make it necessary to run another car up the track it just makes it easier to do so.

To say we (society)hold females to a higher standards in sport is debatable. If a male had the same results as Deegan, they’d have been shown the door much sooner. Arguably HD would never have gotten the AM seat based off her truck results. In any event it’ll be fascinating to see how Logano gets on.

Joey won’t win he’s not the best road racer they should’ve waited
to do this on an oval, Deegan will find a better ride, she was just a rookie, people have to be patient!

@@miketwotwenty I’d agree winning is unlikely but even a top 20 would be an improvement.

Every driver, male or female, has a limit to their talents. Deegan is well beyond her’s. She’s a perfect example of money and sponsorship outweighing talent when it comes to putting drivers in rides.
And no, I’m not against women in NASCAR. I was a big fan of both Johanna Long and Shawna Robinson.

The "Data" they're looking for are HOW good are or SHOULD we be with Deegan, and not. Her success in Nascar,..was only in the West lower series or late models, ONLY. She should have stayed in ARCA , even now, to see if she can win often and/or be a champ. She's nothing more than a pop princess, and honestly,...annoying. Maybe she should try the dirt, heck she could win a ton of midget or dirt late models. Kaylee Bryson and Jade A. are GREAT racers, who win. Kaylee is my pick. She was not only the first female but first rookie period ,to finish in top 5 points in the Silver Crown series last year. She won her first Silver crown race recently. She also races in the TRANS AM series on road courses. She picked it up quick and won her class once and 2nd or 3rd in a few others. She hopes in different cars and does good or wins. She is part of a NEW type of Lady racers who dont mix it up with the boys,....they just drive around your ass, They started at 9 or so and race the track,..not just other drivers. I think Deegan is one of the last of the more "whiny" ladies who point fingers at everybody but themselves.

Rivalries have been part of NASCAR for longer than you’ve been alive and they’re good for the sport. For the most part it’s just good hard racing and when that’s done up front it sell tickets. These cars have fenders for a reason. If you need further explanation just look at the name of the show you’re on. Bottom line NASCAR isn’t going to start handing out penalties for rivalries.
