If you think 6.5 is a bad score for this game, the entire Armored Core series has never surpassed 80 on metacritic and it's user scores always surpass critic scores. What you should take away from that is this:
If you're a fan of mech games, buy it.
These games are so rare in this age of FPS / sports / battle royale games among other more popular genres. If we don't support these unappreciated gems, they'll die off...
Wow really Armcored Core never over 80?! That's messed up.
I agree this game is fun for a mech head like myself. I think the game deserve a higher score
Yeah the game play and story is ehh, But it's all about building your mech and wrecking s**t. I'm sure they would be a dlc for the already overload of custom gear and weapons. Name your mech, dual weapons and swords, shoulder cannons, 5 weapons you can equip on your mech!! What more you want!!
The enemies aren't varied enough and the game is too easy. If they fixed those two things the game would be so much better, but without that honestly I gotta agree with IGN for once
This is a better review than ign's lol

Right? I think people comparing this to Astral Chain is idiotic. It's more like Monster Hunter than anything else...
@@Krumpulous the only comparison I could make from astral chain and this is the anime style but they're 2 different games entirely.
@@Krumpulous People are only doing that because they come out around the same time, anytime 2 or more games come out in a small release window they are compared even if theyre 2 completely different genres.
Wtf ign literally always rated monster hunter high. Generation ultimate was considered a low point in the series and it still got an 8 from ign. Please dont compare this mediocre mech game to monster hunter.
@@auditionko your basically calling armoured core mediocre ...moron
The fact that they gave NBA 2k20 a higher rating than this one is unacceptable

The fact that you compare 2 different reviews of 2 different types of games is suggesting your seeking attention.

From software needs to make an armored core game i hoped this game will satisfy my needs.
Miyazaki said he was working on it after his next two games which at the time was Sekiro and Elden Ring so let's hope.
Did he really said that? Dont make me happy for nothing 😂
@@Randgriz6 I heard about that too
Why are you giving these reviews any weight? Have you seen the MC scores for Armored Core games?
@@giygas345 Nothing even implied they cared about the review, they litetally just said they hope FROM will make a new Armored Core and hope this will hold them off until then. No mention of the score or anyhing.
I feel bad for the developers because I think they tried hard
Seriously though it looks like a passionate project.
You shouldn't feel bad, cuz the game is actually rather nice. Don't be fooled by a rush review by posers who didn't even touch on much of the game's content with further modifications like decals and show the co op further in play.
The game is fine, you're going to enjoy it. Just why would a fluid mech game that fills the void that Armored Core left so long ago, that lets you throw enemies, road signs, and stray cars into buildings and crumbling them down upon your foe score lower than an NBA license heavy gambler simulator that hasn't done anything different of worth in like a decade?
Compared to something like Astral Chain, they didn't try hard enough.
tbh in Japan this will do well else were not as much outside of Japan these mech games are niche
Triple-D26 lmao that’s pretty dumb to say
And yet I already consider Deamon X Machina to be a far better game then CasinoSim2K20.
lol
I'm serious when I stated that consider Deamon X Machina a far better game then CasinoSim2K20. So when I eventually get a Switch Lite this will be one of the games I pick up. And what makes me mad is crap like CasinoSim2K20 gets from IGN a review score in the high 7s to low 8s and yet an awesome mech game like Deamon X Machina gets a review score in the low 6s.
You know that slot mechanic in 2k is free right? You don’t put money into. And it’s only for MyTeam.
@@BigCC16 right, but a big amount of people play the myteam, ultimate team, etc. And you gotta grind a lot, 150 hours to get a certain team whereas someone who only played let's say 20 hours but dropped money in the game, has the exact same team as you do just because they dropped more money on the table. Also include mad bugs which ruin it for competitive 2k players, 12 hour load times as reported by a lot of people. And the most joke of them all, they forgot to change the game icon when purchased on PC, which shows 2k19's game icon instead of 2k20
It's so much better.
Ign doesn't like it...it must be great then
Sounds edgy, yet so many would be surprised just how often it's true. Kinda like how recently I been picking out movies that Rotten Tomatoes scores low.
IGN liked Celeste
I mean, there is a demo on the eShop. It was kind of boring IMO.
So if ign likes it then that means it must be bad right?

This game feels like a great skeleton without any meat. They put all the effort into the mech design equipment, animations, and boss fights and nothing else to make the game more meaningful out side of those things. I really hope there’s a sequel that has some more focus put on the story, missions, and level design because there’s already a framework for an incredible game.

@Bblurre It's the best one.

Better monster AI, better monsters (Odogaron) better multiplayer, better item accessibility via the radial menu, hotkeys if you use keyboard, also.
Better interactions, better interface, better bow/guns, better TCS, better Switch Axe, better Charge Blade, better Long Sword.
Better sound design, better sense of immersion, better WORLD. Better Palico.
I'm running out of things, but you get my point. There's only two things World doesn't have - yet. Monster variety and weapon model variety. But with 58 monsters in Iceborne? I'm pretty satisfied. So for me at least, the ONLY thing World falls short on is weapon model variety. Which, depending on your viewpoint, is irrelevant anyway since the meta generally favours one or two weapons out of the entire tree, of each of the fourteen weapon types.

If anything to take away from this review is that the gameplay is really solid and fun to play. It may have its flaws but that just shows that mech games don't come around too often to be refined the way it needs to. So here is what I recommend:

Daemon X Machina has something going for it, don't let it die out.

Let them know where the games needs improving so they can make a better product. Whether they update the game for better or make an improved sequel.

Mech games exist for a sole purpose: To build your mech, customize it to your heart's content and then go on missions to blow out stuff. You don't need a story driven mode. Even AC has the same pattern. Mercenary who got a job as a giant robot pilot. The fact that AC has a somewhat better storyline never made me keep up with the series. The mechs did. And so does this game as well. As long as the mechs are great along with the customization options, I'll play it. And I'll play AC also. Just give me mech games. No story. Just Boom.

Multiplayer's usually really active at peak hours. The game itself has a small, but dedicated community, just like Armored Core (which makes up most of this game's community, more or less.) Heck, there are quite a few people who stream the game at least once a week.
Yeah, multiplayer is fun, really fun, actually. Though, PVP can be a pain as people built their Arsenals (mechs) to be swift and devastating.
Game journalism was a mistake.

No wonder Nintendo sent this game to die, between astral chain and Zelda

A review that didnt go in depth about anything.... do better please.
IGN doesn't do better. They do scramble and poop out review as fast as possible before others can to rush for clicks.
Been checking around to see the general consensus on this game as I'm tempted to buy it at full price. I played the Prologue demo a bit and although I can get a sense that the campaign and deep customization system is merely there to support co-op play, there's something special about this game. The gameplay is from a bygone era and I think media outlets are reviewing it poorly because they are pressured to find positives only in current trends and modern day innovation.
Well gamer reviewers and "journalists" are known to have shitty tastes in games and are bad at them. Its not surprise.
The game's spiritual predecessor, Armored Core, also got bad reviews but was still fun to play.
To make it simple, reviewers and journalist hates games that are too "gamey"
I have this on Steam. Honestly, the AC customization is not that restrictive, the action is great. Had loads of fun just testing stuff out. Then going online to finalize your build. Really worth it for me. And i want a sequel. F it, i want a trilogy
I can see the sequel to this game being in space....or on another planet.

The only way to make mech games like this all the more entertaining is even more customization options and explosive ragdoll effects. But seriously, ragdoll effects makes almost anything better. Do it while scripting their hands to act like slightly effective velcrow like some of the old BMX bike games did and they can hang from over head signs or cartwheel as it looked like they tried to grab a railing for dear life and fall on their faces. That would be great to have in this game.
But there's plenty more you can do here. Just about any game is all the more fun when you do silly crap with 4 player co op. Like everyone picking up a car and hitting the same baddie in the head with them at once, or dropping your weapons and go boxing Real Steel style with your friends when that becomes more a thing.
You can race your mechs against one another on a field somewhere if you like. There's a smart device game called Break Arts that does that, and Break Arts 2 on PC. Can have some fun and just do it raw in this game. Working together to search through cities for things like decals you can scan to customize your machine further with is fun.
In the demo I found a sign that said something like; Check your cameras now. I put it spread across the chest of my mech for when I jump up in front of people's faces. I'll find that sign again and do the same with people's camera views in co op now that the game is out.
Based on the prologue demo alone this is at the very least a 7,5 in my book. Great soundtrack, fun combat, nice visuals and the customization options for your character and the mech!! Co-op sounds fun as hell too and pvp will come later as well. This game deserve some love. Starting off by calling the switch underpowered also makes me feel like this reviewer has bias against the switch. Most UE4 games are 30fps on the "powerful" consoles as well.
I own a switch and if you think it isn’t underpowered, you’re just deluded
@@NeroAvian
For its form factor it's not underpowered at all. Anything can be optimized to run on it.
@@NeroAvian The Switch is the greatest hand held gaming system in existence. How is it under powered?
Could easily bump it up to a 8 just cause its the first mech game in awhile that isn't horrid. And is actually fun
@@Sin-Faoladh
Yeah, an 8 is an acceptable score as well! Then with some better story/storytelling it could be 9+
Can your mech merge with other mechs and transform into a combiner? Ohhh can you transform into a space jet, tank and then back to mech?
we've met yet again Daemon Michiko ⚆_⚆
