    A National Historic Park.
A full hookup RV & tent camping park.
A event center including car shows & auctions.
    A Equestian Center.
Build large houses surrounding the fort that people can own horses at.
Charge low rates for camping & monthly & yearly memberships such as for equstrian activities.
This old fort can become fully restored & a catalyst for surrounding upscale development.

These are awesome ideas! I have an RV and have thought about taking it here for the day... would also love to see small RV park on Belle Isle.. on the east end by the lighthouse... i think both us Michiganders as well as folks around the country would love it! Visit DSO, Fox/State, festivals, sporting events, Riverwalk, Eastern Market, museums, John King Books, restaurants, Diamond Jack boat tour and 50 other things while in town. Would love to see further redevelopment of Delray area. Horses is a unique idea... certainly seems like there's land for it area and would bring more nature to previously inudustriazed area...

@@Justincasethompson Who would willingly like "to go camping" in southwest detroit?
🤔 Watch out for all the meth heads, crack heads, damn fents & the combo addicts. In that area...your nice RV will be completely stripped by morning. If you make it until the morning that is...

My father spent some time at Ft.Wayne after being drafted back in '68. Recently he has mentioned that he would like to go back & visit the "ye old fort." And on the other hand, its so very disturbing & disappointing how the city of Detroit has preserved this once extremely important piece in "our" American history! (Did i mention that i live only 10mins from the fort...)

Hopefully...i will not be disappointed in the city of Detroit & the state. It just breaks my heart to see that Fort Wayne is not preserved like the historical site it should most definitely be.

I use to live here when I was a kid....and yes, we seen ghost all the time. The basements of our housing unit was chilling to say the least but if you went out your basement door you could run through the underground tunnels and come up on the other end...but momma always said don't get lost because it would be hard to find your way back home...so many great memories living there use to be a Sander's ice cream parlor right across the street that we could go and have ice cream and sit at the counter...the time was about the 1960's...was sad when we had to move because they were gonna turn it into a historical museum...they put us in the Herman Gardens projects and that was just as cool until about the late 70's..blacks started moving in and whites started moving out...sad that the city never really did anything with the whole fort...even still to this day, it's still slowly deteriorating...the play area (field) that the kids are playing on we would watch the annual fire works for the 4th of July there...we also use to play in...yes IN...the military tanks on the grounds and a helicopter and small plane....most I remember was the ghost always showing up...we just got use to them except the mean ones...the Indian mounds weren't surrounded by fences back then we just thought they were hills...tyfs brings back memories! Also you should mention that's Canada across the Detroit river, just saying people who never lived here might not know who close Canada is to Detroit...which by the way brings back another memory of watching the gigantic cargo ships go by while my mom's fish for dinner....lol...

My father, a career Army NonCom, was stationed there during part of his 20 year service. We'd go there every year for our school physicals. I went there for my draft physical. At the north end of the property is the US Army Corps of Engineers boat slip. We'd fish in that area off the shore. Back then all the buildings were well maintained. What has happened to the property, is a shame and insult.

Wonderful history. My dad told me he drove his motorcycle there to register for the draft. I've hung out there quite a bit for years. If I'm in town i may go again for the annual Christmas event. The barracks and tunnels are cool and in great shape. Great view of new Gordy Howe International Bridge. They use the open land near the water for soccer leagues and historic baseball games. A few other buildings in nice condition. But there's definitely some buildings in rough shape. There's a non profit that does maintenance. I'd love to volunteer more when I retire.

@@TheGreatOutdoors There is a flea market there, twice a year (spring and fall). I have my dad's 8mm film of a Sherman tank driving over a 1940's vintage car during an open house, they had in the 60's.

@@richardkawucha1232 Wow. That's incredible vintage video. I was seeing what my dad had from those days. He had some footage of the 67 riots but it really wasn't clear good footage as it looked like he was driving. I wish I had taken video in my youth when i lived downtown in the 90s but didn't have the foresight.

The U.S. Forest Service has land leases.
Perhaps the National Park Service can lease out the houses to private people once they are restored or sell them with the condition that they will be living in a National Park.
