- Can 37's really work on the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392 without a lift? Well, with one simple modification, it sure can! I would do something about the low hanging exhaust tips next. The extreme recon package is one of the best deals Jeep has offered since the introduction of the rubicon.
I’m torn with what to do with the exhaust. The muffler and tail pipes hang down for sure. But, I like the ability to change the exhaust note with a push of a button. The aftermarket exhaust systems are ludicrously expensive!
@@DrivingLine I'm running Magnaflow's Rock Crawler exhaust. It's surprisingly quiet. Granted, still equally as loud as the 'loud' button and yes, all the time -- but clearance for days. Otherwise, just skid it. I paid $1500 or so for my Magnaflow. NO DRONE.
Surprised you are getting such good fuel economy. I'm 9.6 average right now (also XR on 37's) mostly in town driving, lots of stop and go. Highway I did get 15-16 on the way to Moab, including hills.
Appreciate the info. I bet with different gears you would see much better fuel economy, but for 37s that’s a pretty minimal amount of mods from factory. Well done!

I got my jeep before the extreme recon was offered. I put 37 inch Patagonia tires on stock wheels with 1 3/4 wheel spacers. It rubbed in the back a lot wheeling in Moab and very little in the front. While I was at the vendor show i bought a Skyjacker 2 1/2 suspension lift it took care of the rear rubbing and I like the way it leveled out the jeep. From Moab to Denver my gas mileage was 17.8 with 373 gears. The 392 has plenty of power if I change my gears I think I Will go to 4.10's. I watch all your videos, really enjoy them. I bought a expedition one rear bumper tire carrier after watching your video. I like the bumper so far. Keep up the good work.

Another great vid Ali! That dang 392 song is intoxicating, had to rewind to watch the bump stop portion a second time, first time the Hemi song distracted me. 😂. Just put Pintlers on my JT with some 37 Mickey Baja Boss A/Ts, they're great.

I have a non XR 392 and my goal was to run 37s stock. Here is what I did:
-Metal cloak fender chop
-Metal cloak rear bumpstop extension
-3.5 inch BS wheels (4.5 would probably work too)
-Motobilt aluminum inner fenders front and rear
Works great!!
Does it have 3.73 gears?

I have the SOT on my 392 and installed the HotHeads Headliner and it made a significant difference with heating/cooling and road noise. Took maybe 30 minutes to install.
I looked at that setup. Wasn’t a huge fan of the adhesive/Velcro attachment method. Good to hear someone says it works. Maybe I’ll look at it again. Thanks for the comment.
I really want to get the Sky 1 touch on a rubicon within a few months. in my research, I've read a lot of positive feedback regarding the hothead headliners. I love Sarge Green. Your Jeep looks great!

Also if it’s a 392 with the XR package I believe you have 4.88 gears not the 4.56
Thanks. All of the XR 392s get 4.56 gears. I believe you can only opt for the 4.88 if you have a manual transmission with a smaller gas engine.
SOT isn't a great option for Vegas so I went with the hard top option on my '24 order.

Love the video, will I need to add lift on the stock V6 JL Rubicon suspension or the Extreme recon package before I attempt to add the 37's with just the bump stop swap? Just asking because I think the Extreme recon does add lift over the stock JL Rubicon.

Just put the 2 inch pads in the back. The front is stock.

So I just want to be clear, I also have the 392 w/a Tazer. I wasn’t sure about the Force RWD. You use it on the highway all the time? It doesn’t mess anything doing that? Great video and 392 looks sick.
Thank you. The force RWD doesn’t hurt a thing. These transfer cases are engineered to have a 2WD option. The only thing it’s putting more stress on is the rear axle since all of the power is diverted there.

I have the exact same 392 as yours as well as 37's, except for the color. Does the forced 2wd on the hwy give you better mileage ? Would you mind sharing the benefits of adding Tazer...
On the highway, it seems to help the fuel economy a little. That being said, I still haven’t seen a tank where I am getting more than 16 miles per gallon. I do like how 2WD changes the steering feel on the interstate. It essentially lights it up, which is nice when you are behind the wheel for hours at a time.
How are the on road manners with those 37s? Regular wheel adjustments/steering inputs in tight lanes?
Works great! I’m very happy with it. It’s not a big adjustment over how it was stock. The high backspacing helps a lot with that.

You likely just put wheel spacers on and reuse your stock wheels.

Correct. Just put a 2 inch bump stop in the back. The front is stock.
Do the nitto tires on your Jeep pick up rocks on gravel roads ?
My local wheeling areas all have gravel roads connecting the trails together and I’ve never had an issue. I generally have more trouble with all-terrain tires on gravel roads.
My 392 doesn't have the XR package, and I want to keep stock rims, if possible. Looking at 2" pads in rear, with Titan 1.5 wheel spacers and 37/12.50/17 BFG A/T KO2? Don't do heavy off-roading but would like to take it on some trail rides, and don't want to rub. Any Advice?
That should work fine. The BFG's are on the small side, so you likely won't have an issue with rubbing.
@@DrivingLine Hi Ali, I have a '23 392 XR. Sticking with stock wheels and going with 37 KO2"s since they are smaller, but adding your recommended JKS bump stops. I do love Nitto Trails and AEV. I really wanted to install their 2.5" XP Dual Sport Suspension with the Bilstein 8100's, but my 392 is creeping up towards 6 figures. I assured my wife that I wouldn't go crazy like my 2016 JK Rubi. Like you, I love the ride height of the 382 and Clayton Offroad offers a Performance Coil Pkg that may address the suspension issues you raise without doing a full AEV lift...$438 vs $3300. Love your 392 videos. Also getting the JL Tazer Mini. Using your video as a guide.

Depending on the tire, that should work. you might rub a little on the control arm in the front and maybe the lip of the front skid plate like I do at full lock.

How heavy are the 37” Nittos?
They are around 87 pounds each.
You offset is wrong you need -38 offset that pushes the tire away from the inside of the wheel well. +25mm you will rub
A -38 equates to 3.50 inches of backspacing, which is way overkill for just running 37s. That backspacing is also very hard on the front end. Since this video, I lifted the Jeep and installed a set of beadlocks with 4.75 inches of backspacing. That’s more than enough for 37s and doesn’t hurt the scrub radius as badly.
What’s 0-60 with 37s?
I still haven’t tested that. There’s a spot on the Tazer to do it, I just haven’t cared enough to try. It’s definitely slower than stock.

On my 392XR with 37” Nitto TGs I ran a 4.7 0-60 in AWD. Very easy to duplicate multiple times. That’s per the Tazer’s 0-60 function so take it with a grain of salt. On 40s now with 5.38 XD60s, need to re-check it.

Think it’s an ideal gearing combo with the 37s. As weird as it sounds to say with the factory 315s it felt a little over-geared, especially at 75+ on the highway. 37s is 👌 with the 4.56s
