How come none of the later games in this series were as fun as this one? Sure, most of them looked better than the Saturn game, but none of them really offered that same level of driving excitement. I wish they did! I have Sega Rally Revo on the PSP, and in theory it would be a lot of fun to play on the go!
Visually and stearing-wise it's not even close to the arcade-version (yet still very playable on the Saturn). But boy, that arranged soundtrack was great! I had hours and hours of fun with this one. :)
@Del Fuego definitely better than Ridge Racer. I can't understand why people liked it even the arcade version felt wrong in comparison to the Sega arcade racers at the time.
@@chanimpresario4968 Definitely. Plus, I really think its musics are atrocious. But I kinda like R4, which is a way better and gorgeous looking game. With great musics this time. ... And that came out three years after SEGA Rally; an eternity in a console generation lifespan...
@@devoid5637 the jaz tunes are nice on S.R. But it's more to do with being as close to real racing at the time and R.R to this date just feels further away from what I've always been after.
I recall playing a rally game on the dreamcast. The controls were horrible and it was like the car was on a oily track at all times regardless of the terrain. I was drifting at 10 mph if that makes any sense to you, was it this game? The logo reminds me of it :P
Can you make a racing game better on SAT/PS1? Gran Torissmo had only better rankings cause more Tracks;more cars. The gameplay and the tracks were better in Sega Rally from my view.
Imagine if SEGA had used the tarmac component engine from this game, tweaked the handling and used that for Touring Car? Would have been a big improvement on what was eventually issued...
I’ll give you transparencies, but I’ve never heard anyone complain about the draw distance of this port. It’s not as long as in the model 2 arcade version but it’s several times farther out than Saturn Daytona, and well beyond the next curve most of the time. This game has far more car model and trackside detail than Ridge Racer so I think that overall it’s one of the best-looking console racing games of its generation.

The Lancia Stratos/037 are the greatest 2WD rally cars ever. The Lancia Delta, easily the best 4wd rally car for it's time. All those championships

Weirdly the team that did sega rally did sega touring car. I think they rushed it out because the Saturn was basically done and gone when it came out.
you can unlock the celica and delta for STCC, and the physics are different for them...... but i do get ya point ;)
