One thing that I love about your covers is the lyric changes to make them more inclusive and enhance the storytelling of the original songs

This beautiful performance truly adds a whole character dynamic between Ursula and Ariel that I can't help but focus on.
Even before you consider the adjustments and changes to a couple of the lyrics (which are fitting btw), it's such an interesting complex question once you consider Ursula wanting Ariel for herself. More specifically when you start to considering this from the perspective that in the narrative of the Little Mermaid, Ursula wanted revenge on Triton for banishing her from his castle.
As such, this idea of her being attracted to Ariel opens up a narrative dilemma. Does she desire Ariel because she genuinely loves her? Is it simply because of a desire to get revenge on Triton by claiming his daughter? Would there there a mixture of the two?
Regardless, Ursula sees this beautiful, naive mermaid, who has come to her with an innocent request, desperate for a solution. She can provide that solution, but it has to come at a price... in the end, Ursula needs to claim this woman for herself and understand the reason for these feelings deep down. She will help this poor unfortunate soul, one way or another...
This is what comes to mind with this alluring, sultry depiction of this Disney classic (creating a far better remake of this song than the ACTUAL remake).

I liked this write up.
Had two ideas similar to this as AUs; one was that Ursula wanted Ariel and was intending to keep Ariel for herself to prevent getting Eric's kiss and the other was what-if Ursula was actually Ariel's mom and had been exiled by her husband and sought to use her daughter for revenge. Great minds think alike, especially since little was really known of the character and either option could be used to further develop the character

It's probably a testament to my lack of non-Internet culture that I have never watched "The Little Mermaid" and thus not been exposed to this song until now, but WHO CARES!? Raf has covered it in her typical magnificent fashion, and keeping up with the aquatic theme to provide us all with a little relief from the unrelenting hatred of the summer sun!
The contrast between this cover and "Davy Jones" from about three weeks ago is surprisingly potent, with this being outright upbeat but no less ominous for the context. You'd definitely make quite the Ursula with the way you blend menace, cordiality, and even a bit of humorous self-awareness (damn you for making me imagine Sharon and Lacey as human-headed eels!), and Sakura_Mirai has an excellent Ariel voice to complement your performance! Your art is fantastic as always - the ripple effect across the tentacles and hair couples with the little rising sparkles to make it look even more like it's underwater! I'm a little concerned about the way that the tentacle caressing Sakurariel's chin appears to be melting a bit at the tip, though; that seems like it's not normal. (Also, clever idea to position it to block Rafsula's cleavage - gotta keep things clean for CZcams's standards!)
Also, I do need to point out a possible little hiccup in the lyrics: around 1:42, you sing "power" when the lyrics read "importance." But the imperfections only make it more beautiful - truly, the power of sea magic runs deeper than we can understand. (I've got Vylledis Labs working on that.)
Looking forward to more treasures from the deep, RafScrap! You're definitely on a roll, especially now that you seem to have another beautiful young singer at your disposal - keep it up! Summer will be cruel, but fleeting in the face of this awesomeness!

Absolutely beautiful. The beggining was immediately felt enchanting and the new lyrics on the second part was clever and creative. I wouldnt say your a witch more of a sea goddesss. You offer humans with your enchanting voice to grant their desires but of course with a price. As stated you are like the voice if the sea itself. It changes from beauty and peace, but wild and strong that cannot be imprisoned. A balance in nature that man should respect.

I love how the additions to the song really drive home what the bargain actually is; you can have your prince on the surface, in exchange for being Seen and Not Heard, for being the beautiful trophy of some man you barely know. It feels almost like Ursula doesn’t entirely *want* Ariel to take the bargain. That when she brags to her minions how she has almost got her, it’s because she thinks that she made the price too much for Ariel to want to pay. That her description of how men are will make her realize that she doesn’t actually need them, not when Tentacle Mommy is right in front of her, at any rate.
