For 25k, that R2 unit shouldn't just be remote controlled. Movie accurate lights and sounds is cool, but for something that's the price of a car, I think it should do more.
Maybe an autonomous version?
@@EnchantedEars Most definitely. Even then, depending on features and how much autonomy is given 25k may still be a bit of a stretch. At this point I'd just stick with the smaller versions. Plus the lightsabers and sith costumes. those were pretty badass.

Look up the R2 builders group. You can build a better version of what Disney is selling for "relatively" little money.

Tbh it seems a lot of the merch is also dependant on the newer series and things available on Disney+ , wait until they start airing all the Obi-Wan Kenobi , Cassian series and such , and i'm sure we'll get a bunch of og Empire stuff :)

Cast members are required to always stay in character (they can actually be fired for not doing so). That would be an appropriate reaction, well, except to kill him, but even Disney probably has limits, right?

Alternatively , you can get a full-suit of Stormtrooper armour to assemble yourself for less than 1K if you actually go through 501st approved sellers , and if you happen to have two left hands and you don't know how to build an armour kit , some sellers will offer to build them to your size , and at worst it'll set you back another 1K .
Same thing for the R2 units , if your dream is to have a fully lit , remote-controlled and animated droid , just get in touch with your local R2 Builders club , they can make you one and won't charge the price of a brand new car for it . But expect to pay a few grands still , there's some seriously complex electronics in there and a lot of machined parts that don't come cheap .
best part: you can customize the suit down to every last detail and the droid the same way too

25k R2 is WAY OVER PRICED! I went to buy one , the remote control is very cheaply made and the functionality is limited. Have commissioned one to be built by a private party at half the price with extended functionality.
Yeah I’m building a r2 and I’ll be controlling it with a Xbox 360 controller which is 100 times better then the cheap one that comes with the galaxy edges r2.

You get clone armor a lot cheaper then that overpriced plastic, imperial surplus sells both realistic and animated clone armor I highly recommend them as I have two kits that are 501st legion approved and guess what if both of them combined cost the same as that one set of first order stormtrooper armor.

@@Midnight_Narrations I wouldn't say easily, it would take a great deal of work, but yes, you could make something that looks similar enough to the real thing, but it's still not going to compare to merch made by the company who owns that franchise, unless even that isn't very well made.

As a massive Star Wars fan, I have never felt such immeasurable disappointment when I finally got to go to, and saw that everything there, including raggedy polyester robes, was over $70. I mean I expect everything at Disneyland to be overpriced, but the Star Wars stuff was so much more egregiously overpriced than everything else, it pissed me off to my fucking core, even more than those sequel movies did and I didn’t think it was possible. I have been upset with Disney over a lot of things but this takes the fucking cake. They know that Star Wars fans are going to overpay for these things. It’s fucking despicable, amongst other things Disney does.
I love the SW universe and hate Disney for what they've made to the franchise with the sequel and standalone movies. Surprisingly, I felt very much compensated at the Galaxy's Edge. We spent like half of the day in the SW village and couldn't get enough of the atmosphere. It really felt like out of this world. Bought nothing though (except food), the place and vibes were so satisfying that we felt no urge even to check the price tags. The experience wouldn't be more complete with some piece of plastic. But those memories will last for awhile for sure.
I really understand your disappointment, but I hope you could enjoy the environment (and the rides) at least!
@@joccmocc no yeah the vibe and experience around it all was really cool, they really did a good job with the environment there. Unfortunately tho we only got to go on the one where you’re a first order prisoner and the resistance saves you, that was really fun. We only got to do that cause the app you have to get your reservation for that area on had us all messed up and kept pushing our time back. Eventually later on like 30 minutes before our time we just walked in
Disney’s M.O. is how can we squeeze every cent possible from the pockets of it’s guests. Or better yet suckers, oops I mean patrons. They will say, oh you’re buying the experience too. 😂💸💸

I missed the lightsaber hilt replicas when I was there. :( I didn’t realize there was a hilt only option.
I was there today, and they were completely sold out of the legacy sabers 😭 lol
I have the custom droid and the savis workshop lightsaber and they are both really worth the price, especially the lightsaber. The experience is so cool and immersive, I don't remember the guy's name but he comes round to talk to everyone individually about their lightsaber design and it's really cool knowing more star wars lore.

5:10 if you go to GameStop you can buy the same stormtrooper helmet for 100 dollars
Actually, you are able to wear the robes available at BSO since, if you get the proper size, they don't touch the ground. If your cloak/robe drags on the ground however, you aren't allowed to wear it. You also aren't allowed to wear character specific costumes or masks if you are 14+.
Only OG trilogy items only or clone wars. Plus anikens lightsaber that isnt wrongly named Ray's
I like how they made sure to keep the gun they were pointing his head out of the frame.
I make my own, got a R2 equipped with fiber optic snout, laser stars, rainbow dancing internal lights, black light insides( he has a clear body) , rainbow Bluetooth strobes, Bluetooth speaker( for affirmation comments), and headlights, all controlled by switches and buttons on my console. I also made a hologram machine with Leia,s distress message. My back seat is pretty full, living the life.

one time when we were visiting disney world my dad saw the storm trooper suit on display but he thought he could try it on so he took the helmet and was trying to fit it on his head while an employee was comming from behind us going "Sir, sir thats display only" and my mom grabbed me and we just left him to deal with that while we waited outside...

Just got back from WDW...and almost NONE of this stuff was available. We searched through all four parks for art and came up empty. They're using clear, plastic bags for the sabers, and the only thing we found in Dok-Ondars was the holocrons and necklace. So disappointed. Supply chain from China took a hit apparently...
Savi’s workshop (for the custom lightsabers) is a disney experience, you need to book it before hand. I did it and it was definitely THE highlight of my trip
The holocrons would he cool if they didn't feel cheaply made with a $40 price tag. I was looking forward to getting a Count Dooku lightsaber, but sadly, they were completely sold out of all of them
@@WICHONNN94 I get ya. Savi's WS was the one distributing out the plastic bags for those who were able to secure a reservation. They had ran out of the bags you'd get with the experience. They told people they could go to Dok's and purchase the $50 case after being 'gifted' $20 off from the experience cost. Otherwise, we were told that you could also purchase and assemble your own through Dok's, but none of the components were there other than the sabers themselves. No hilt, or other stuff outside of the crystals were there.
I would go for a custom saber, Obi-Wan's saber and a Jedi robe.
Apparently Disney's improved the quality of the lightsabers (both custom and legacy) but they're still not on par with Saberforge or something like that. You'd think it would be easy to get the same Golden Harvest soundboards and use those.

I was able to piece together a movie quality imperial officer uniform totaling about $1300 including tax and shipping. For my rank, I chose to be a Gran Moff.
I'd love me some Stormtrooper armor. But it seems like the only way I could wear some is become a cast member and apply for an entertainment role.

It wasn’t very obvious that Savi’s Workshop is a reservation only experience, so I just bought Dooku’s. Next time I go I’m definitey getting a custom lightsaber. Honestly, idc if it is $200, I’m buying one. The custom R2 tho? Yeah I’ll just buy a new car with that.

I seen people build R2 Units for probably around 1K or something like that, 25K is basicly half the price of a used car somewhere around there

Wasn’t a fan on how the crystals were random on who speaks from them. We got lucky. Got a red and a white with the voices we wanted. The bendu was cool with the two holocrons.

But atleast it isn’t $50 every time. I bought two, a big and a small, $50 really isn’t alot in all honesty, with places like ultra sabers charging around the same price
The blades will work on any saber you buy, so just build one of each size and you are set for any hilt you buy after.
501st is a clone legion that made it into the imperial Storm troopers in legends, not the first order. They are not all the same...
501'st Legion is also an international cosplay group with a strict set of requirements in order to join.
Your cosplay must be perfect. Any design seen in the movies is acceptable but I've heard some of the guys complain about being rejected for a buckle or piece of leather not being right.
The clone legion is actually named after the cosplayers.
Whoever is wrighting your script needs to watch starwars a couple times, first order stormtroopers didnt exist in the timeline of the mandalorian
