    Currently laying in my bed at 5am with a noise sensitive migraine and my neighbour has decided now is the perfect time to build a shed in his garden. It's 5.20 here now and I haven't slept since lastnight because I've got a bad cold which is refusing to let me close my eyes without making me want to be sick! This definitely worked for the migraine, thank you!

  • @krudmonger
    @krudmonger Před 2 lety +1492

    This was very calming. As for the placebo effect, I've always said "If a placebo works for you, then by all means use it!"

    • @flyushkifly
      @flyushkifly Před 2 lety +93

      Agreed! After all, isn't an effective placebo just your brain working to help yourself?

    • @ehsteve231
      @ehsteve231 Před 2 lety +148

      Exactly. People hear "placebo effect" and think "fake". The placebo effect means something is *actually* occurring in your mind which affects your body. If something is triggering your mind to heal itself, that's not fake; there's real brain chemistry going on.

    • @flyushkifly
      @flyushkifly Před 2 lety +19

      @@ehsteve231 great explanation!

    • @sam_h1273
      @sam_h1273 Před 2 lety +5

      Its a late reply, but Google is making no sence. May you explain the placebo effect to me please

    • @flyushkifly
      @flyushkifly Před 2 lety +40

      @@sam_h1273 hmmm, I wonder if I can summarize? I think I'm incapable of being short. I'm going to explain some basic stuff just for my own train of thought, so don't get insulted if it is something you already know, please!
      Lets say a new drug is being tested. A good experiment needs data from two groups. One group gets the drug, and the other group, the control, gets something that is known to not have the effect of what is being tested - a placebo. Both groups know they are testing a drug and what it is supposed to do, but neither know if they are in the main group or the control group. In this case, let's give the control group a sugar pill. The testers record input from the test subjects over time. It's a great drug, so 90% of the main group report the effect it was supposed to create. You would expect the control group to report that nothing has happened, right? Sugar pills certainly don't do the thing the drug does. But surprisingly, 30% of them report some effect! The reason this happened is the placebo effect. 30% of the control group had enough belief that they were in the drug group, and hope that it might work, that their own brains caused some of the drug's effect. Maybe it wasn't as strong as the effect of the drug group, but it was still quantifiable, and if they had a little of the effect, they might believe in it more and maybe increase the effect. To quote Stephen D above,
      "The placebo effect means something is actually occurring in your mind which affects your body. If something is triggering your mind to heal itself, that's not fake; there's real brain chemistry going on."
      The scientists are able to take that data and figure out how much better their drug works than the placebo. In a study like this, with 90% vs 30%, it's clear that the drug is worth taking. Maybe another study results in equal effectiveness from both groups showing placebo is just as good as the drug. The mind is powerful.
      That is kind of what we are talking about. If something you are doing is helping, but there is no quantifiable reason why it is, it may just be your belief/hope in the thing which is triggering your brain to heal. As long as the thing doesn't hurt you - might as well continue even knowing it might just be a placebo effect.
      Is any of that helpful??

    It may sound cliche that I feel like you are my sister which I never had. I have been watching this particular video for the last 2 years. Whenever I have a headache I instantly come here. I tried several other videos but only this video calms me down. Even today I was suffering from a severe headache for a long time. I watched the video again and again and finally felt a lot better. The plucking and pulling part is the best part for me. So I will request you that if you ever read my comment, make a video only plucking and pulling like this part for me. It is a request from my side. And lastly I want to tell you that if Almighty ever gives me an opportunity to meet you I will give you a hug and tell you how much help you are providing to me. Stay blessed always. Love you sister.

    Yeah, my chronic migraines are classified in the range known as “suicide headaches.” My doctor’s prescribed me literal Percocet to get through these bad boys. Since they leave me on the floor, balled up, crying, sometimes vomiting… taking stuff like ibuprofen or Excedrin for them is kind of a joke to me. This video was very nice though, and all of your tips and information are spot on for regular migraines and lesser headaches for sure. Exactly everything I’ve heard from doctors or read about on my own. Even the “pain pulling” is something I’ve been trying with myself for the last decade.

    This was excellent. The sense of warmth is out of this world. I felt like I was being comforted by an older sister or a sweet aunt. Subscribed.

    The think I love the most about this video is how she totally guessed that I may have a headache. Idk how she did it but i won’t question greatness.

    Sarah Lavender - This was amazing. It worked! THANK YOU SO MUCH. From feeling nausea due to the headache - it has now gone! I have saved this and will use again, and will also look into your other sites. As well as curing my headache you also highlighted a few things I can do to prevent future headaches, migraines, light reactive headaches, stress & tension headaches. I knew a few of your solutions but had forgotten some of them and was not in the right frame of mind to apply them 30 mins ago and I also learnt some new ones. Informative, nurturing and very much appreciated. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your gift of empathy and skill to communicate so well.
