I loved Tomer but Phil has made a fantastic edition to the group because if he has nothing else to do he'll try to kill someone lol. Seth and Tomer will both durdle until they die or kill the table lol.
Does Phil stream on his own or have instagram?
@@theatog he does they said he streams historic brawl on episode one with him. I've never watched him though. They also said he had never played commander before joint commander clash.

I think it's really funny that instead of packing single-card discard outlets, Seth put in effects like Null Brooch and Mindslicer that discard your whole hand.

I always understood it as when your planeswalker "dies" it's actually abandoning you. You summon one, they have so much loyalty to you, when they run out of loyalty they planeswalk away, abandoning the summoner(you).
That has always been the official lore, but there's never been anything actually mentioning it on cards
@@JonaxII Nothing actually mentioning it (that I know of)... Until the recent Old Frame PW SLD with Teferi, Karn, and Dack. Their text boxes say "If ~ has no loyalty, he abandons you"!
This episode was absolutely wonderful to watch. So many moments. And Crim's ice-cold nerves with holding on to the Agent vs the Enlightened Tutor.
He was just committed to his lie that he had no good cards.
This will go down as one of my favorite Seth episodes. He was on some otherworldly bullshit and I'm all about that. Fantastic stuff.
Phil's commitment to costume is hilarious.

This sequence of events in the last half of the game was insane:
1.) Crim attacks Seth for lethal
2.) Phil saves Seth in exchange for not discarding their hands
3.) Seth allows Phil to resolve Eerie Ultimatum, Phil has now become archenemy
4.) Crim drains Seth to 3 then allows him to live with a seemingly unwinnable board state and life total
5.) Richard kills Phil with an MDFC
6.) Seth uses Null Brooch to counter Lightning Greaves preventing Phage from killing him
7.) Richard can't kill Seth with his commander without dying to Phage on the backswing, he is forced to trade off the two commanders
8.) Seth wins with Deck of Many Things

Null Brooch was the first card I thought of for a commander build when I saw Rielle the Everwise for the first time.
I recently built a Rielle deck with this card! Super fun.
I put it my aggro commander decks like birgi beserker tribal where my hand will be empty anyways due to running aggro so there is no downside.
I too started playing around onslaught. Opening a phage and an akroma from the two boosters I could buy a week with my allowance was one of my favourite magic memories (the other being opening the three pieces of kaldra from the weekly boosters I'd buy)
Fun fact, Lord of Tresserhorn was going to have its power and toughness changed at the last minute, but they left it a 10/4 because playtesters loved calling him "good buddy"

52:00 You can permanently lose your commander with it being phased out with Opalescence/Starfield of Nix and Out of time, which phases out everything permanently.
Don't forget Oubliette.
@@winssports4830 Oubliette with some way of animating enchantments doesn't work the same way as Out of time as it doesn't phase itself out when it comes in animated, so you'd need something like with panharmonicon doubling etb triggers to get the same effect.

Richard is hilarious, always getting caught off-guard by what his cards actually do. The kind of man that cannot be bothered to retain the vast MTG catalog of text boxes in his head or in fact, to even read one single more!
Been loving the funky, weird themes this season. So fun seeing all the challenge brews :) Hope y'all have fun building them.

The whole time that Seth was so sure that Phil was gonna kill everyone, he really just was not processing the idea of using Mindslicer during Phil's draw to just, not let him cast anything ever again
Haakon cannot cast Adventures from the yard only the knight side. I know cuz my Haakon deck (Aryel general) was DEVASTATED that the rulings state you cannot cast Curry Favor from the yard. It’s like when you cast you declare the ‘side’ and the Sorcery is not a knight. R.I.P. what would have been an insane interaction. Smitten still has amazing art at least.
But interestingly, this interaction is CRAZY good for kess, because she exiles instead of going to the graveyard, if the creature goes on an adventure you can still cast the creature!
You know what would be a cool idea for an episode, imagine a 4v1 episode of the four of them making decks based around breaking moto as the win condition

Letting eerie ultimatum off was the correct choice, Seth was getting a lot of default pressure and having 1 powerful player to rally against was a much better position for him... If he didn't let it resolve he probably would have died next turn
That's exactly why he let it resolve lol. He was like I'm dead anyways let me at least make another enemy and see how that goes 🤣.

In regards to the Opposition Agent question: If multiple replacement effects affect the same target the controller of the thing being replaced selects which effect to use. So the controller of the tutor picks who steals it.
Actually, the static ability that gives Opposition Agent's controller control of the tutor's controller is in effect while this decision is made, so the player whose Agent entered most recently gets to decide who is able to play the exiled card.
No spoilers but the MDFC's really showed up for this game.

I really love that Phil isn't trying to argue when the rest of the guys keep saying he will win if he untaps. With a board state like that it's pointless arguing.

i've played Phage the untouchable commander, i used Torpor orb and Rogues passage to give my opponents a rigorous touching.

It's funny how long the Null Brooch was just saving the table from dying to Exsanguinate on the spot. Bad luck on Crim being right after Seth in turn order.

So...I wanna see a Sentai Special: only Voltron commanders. Or a cannot cast from hand challenge.
Also Haakon combo: Haakon + 1 drop Knight + Syr Konrad (or any Blood Artist) + Phyrexian Altar = infinite casts, etbs, and deaths. A colored reducer (Morophon) can replace the Altar for cheaper.
Can also use colorless or artifact knights to keep it infinite.

The Jank, Phil saving seth, seth not countering a certain spell, crim oppo agent not the tutor, but the next tutor to ruin the plan... So many good moments and everyone in good spirits about it.

So, a tidbit - Ashes of the Fallen actually isn’t supposed to work with Haakon. They recent clarified how “You May cast X spells from Y zone” effects work, so that it now checks what kind of spell it will be, and if that’s still valid. Ashes only changes types in the graveyard, not the stack, so it shouldn’t let you cast it. Naturally, MTGO isn’t programmed to do that correctly.
Interesting. If I had know this ruling I wouldn't have put it in the deck. Oops!
Oh, that's strange. Yeah, just like you said, according to 601.4, the legality of a cast isn't just checked before it goes on the stack, but also once it enters the stack. That's... not very intuitive.

Been thinking about this for a long time. The only time I ever hear "saffron olive" is when anyone introduces him as "Seth, better known as saffron olive". I don't think that's true because other than that everyone calles him Seth haha

Some people might argue Crim didn't play Exsanguinate to play around the Null Brooch on table. I say he didn't play it to play around the five thousand "but you didn't cast your commander!" comments he knew he was gonna get if he won that way.
Null brooch is in my Daretti deck and is just a beast with all the discard shenanigans he can do. Love null brooch.

Null Broach and Deck of Many Things in a Madness deck seem pretty good.
How dare you sir! Treserhorn was my very serious zombie tribal draw commander for many a successful year. Legit all zombies for the sacing, run all the draw punishment, fevered visions, rack, etc. On a good turn your doing 15 damage a turn to people on a bad day 2 to 3. Plus zombie swings.

I THINK Phil had a line to survive at the end if he sacced the seal to destroy Richard's Worn Powerstone on Crim's end step, Richard wouldn't have had the mana to pay to make the Fumarole unblockable and pay for Ghostly Prison. Of course, he was just as liable to not block so who knows if he still would have died lol.
Also I guess Richard could have still flung Tresserhorn lol. I was just excited cuz I thought that was the line he was thinking of.

seeing phage i got the idea of what if you did a game where dying to phage was the objective. one person gets a phage deck, that doesn't need to have phage as commander just build around her, and has to try to die to the phage trigger while the rest has to try to kill that person in other means and because combat is probably to easy combat is also forbidden.
Since planeswalkers have always had "loyalty" I think they've always "abandoned" when they run out of loyalty. Since this results in them going to the yard anyways tho it's considered dying by most players. Technically, like all non creature permanents, planeswalkers don't "die" and aren't destroyed like other permanents cos they "abandon" due to state based effects
Goad says "attack if able" so Lord has to be declared if there is a legal player to attack. If Phil is the last player left, the only target to declare an attack at, and Ghostly Prison puts a tax on that, the "can't attack" on Prison gets prioritized over the "must attack" on goad. You can't be made to pay for Prison if you don't want to, so then Lord won't attack.
Funnily enough, if Phil controlled a planeswalker, Lord would still have to attack that, because Ghostly Prison doesn't protect your planeswalkers. Sphere of Safety would have stopped it though.
