  • Here is a split screen view of Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir's Latin Short Dance (samba, rhumba, cha cha) as performed in both the Team Event and the Individual Event at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang. Two Gold Medal skates!
    I synched both videos so that their audio matched perfectly, and then muted the Team Event video (left side), which had commentary, thus using the Individual Event video's (right side) audio.
    *** You can tell the difference between the performances by Tessa's dress design.

    If it weren't for her costume change, I'd think these are the same performance. Their timing and precision are too great for words.

    really loved their costumes the minute they debuted it at the beginning of the season. a lot of people found their costumes too over the top, but it was just perfect at fleshing out the latin flavor of their short dance. the black color and long sleeves really highlighted their arm/body movements during the dance

    this split screen is an excellent display as to how v/m can move precisely to specific rhythms aka ice DANCING, and not just being able to skate to some music with no thought to precision. dancing with precision, especially to a REQUIRED rhythm, requires tremendous discipline, training, and skill--something that p/c takes as beneath them. p/c would
    rather engage the judges and the audience with a delusion of some ethereal, lyrical skating to music without any nod to structure and precision. anything free-style doesn't really require a lot of training to be disciplined to meet the requirements while still expressing the dance artistically. p/c's mantra of free style skating is like rewarding a toddler's random doodling with a million bucks

    Thank you...you did a superb job of this split screen. And Virtue and Moir did a SD perfect routine in both the Team and the Individual events.

    I caught this routine in the team event and knew I had to watch them in the individual, and part of it was because of the music.

      right? probably copyright issues due to the music selection. seems like the respective record companies take them down unless the uploader pays them licensing rights

    Crazy that there is a 3 point difference between these two performances. Obviously a little misstep, rhumba pattern was given only a 2 (what?!) in team. Just goes to show how the little details matter so much.

    • @zilam98
      @zilam98 Před 5 lety +5

      they have now officially retired. and even before their announcement, i have been of firm belief that their 2018 olympic performances should be the last one of their amateur skating career. i'd hate to see the golden memory of those events be marred by their continuation and possible injuries hindering any wins. look at what happened to them in their 2nd quad after their 2010 olympic golds. injuries, coaches beginning to favor their rivals, etc. that quad did bring us Carmen which i think is their template for moulin rouge. one amazing feat though that in each of their 3 quads, they won one worlds gold.

    You could have put the left hand tessa to the right hand scott or vice versa and this would have still been excellent :D just imagine... They are too perfect ❤️🦋

  • @TianaT4
    @TianaT4 Před 4 lety +15

    I can say with 100% certainty there will... NEVER ever be someone who moves like Tessa out there... Never again. The day she retired, figure skating lost a legend.
    She is everything that was special about Scott. She could have won every gold medal with anyone, he ...not so much. I mean you can tell how much she fucking enjoys doing it, those movements, that grace is just pure art and magic. I feel bad for every upcoming figure skater, they have untouchable huge shoes to fill. And they never will.

      the very best female ice dancer to have come out of this discipline. balletic, but versatile at the same time. technically adept while still being able to be supremely artistic

    Wish Marina Zoueva acted a little more gracious in public. The fact that she has a team in event should not have anything to do with it - yawning and looking bored after such an amazing SD, not a good look on her. Stephane Lambiel gives standing o.
