- Riding on Narendra Modi’s space ambitions and the government’s $1.5 billion space budget, India has opened the doors for its space startups to attempt their first orbital launch later this year. That impending milestone may serve the prime minister at the voting booth, but do the country's private space players have a real shot at catching up to the likes of SpaceX? Menaka Doshi speaks with Skyroot Aerospace to find out.

SpaceX will not remain the present SpaceX in 10 years.
Don't forget that they said the same thing about Tata Motors 20 years ago. Tata, according to many jingoistic people in India, was going to be the next Toyota in under 2 decades. Well we know how that turned out to be. Skyroot will most probably fold in the next 10 years. We need more realism than blind jingoism.

Indian people adapt to things very quick. In a matter of years, India became one of the most digitalized countries. In a matter of years we made the most roads. If we Indian people start encouraging businesses and startups around us, who knows we might become the top GDP country too.
Remember we have the most man power on earth. America brings people to their country to work for them. We have it already. Look how advanced Is China.
How is it immune to politics, why only after 2019, private companies were allowed to come into space sector? why not before ? Also the Indian new Space Policy 2023 unveils the government’s plan to let private enterprises carry out end-to-end activities - from launching satellites and rockets into space to operating Earth stations.
The person who wrote the tittle doesn't really understand how things actually are
They have space startups in somaliland too. Will they be the next SpaceX?
This is excellent news compilation. Thank you
In india gov has tighter control over space field with so many laws that restrict private companies from freely exploring space industry
Now things have changed our govt is encouraging private players to come forward and do best and supporting with various funds
China can be next NASA for example china is already operating a space station in the orbit single handedly that neither america or any of European nations combined together can do it. China has also experience of lunar operations longer than any other nation.
Spacex was indeed good, they pushes the technology forward for lowering the cost per launch :-
1) Reusable Rockets
2) methane as fuel to reduce cost.
Well Spacex received appreciation from NASA for it's effort and now NASA's supplies are transported to ISS through Spacex rockets.
If India needs a Spacex,
It should focus on what the space sector is lacking these days. It could be further lowering it's cost or a breakthrough!.
Many people misunderstand a concept: companies like SpaceX, Microsoft, and Apple owe their success to the accumulation of American industrial technology over the past century. These companies have benefited from technology transferred from NASA and military applications to the civilian market. Clearly, India does not have such a foundation.
What? Okey then, I thought India been to Mars, Moon's south pole in 1st attempt.
I was also wrong that India defeated Pakistan multiple no. of times.
Thanks for clarification, India truly doesn't have tech.??

Indians counting down is the most adorable thing ever
No one on earth can rival SpaceX how is a bunch of startups in India going to do that.
Never ever, ever underestimate the Indians, their understanding of space is at least 3,000 years old. Indian startups shouldn’t be compared with a Nasa subsidiary and private company like SpaceX. Both are really great group of people working for the betterment of humanity and increasing our knowledge of Space!
There’s also a billion people in India, so what’s the hold up? Makes no sense.

Space X is too GOOD to be compared with this one.. Funny.
The biggest barrier to India’s growth is LANGUAGE. people from everywhere in the country speak different languages yet all of them have to study in a foreign language ( ENGLISH ). It is said that when you do something in your native language you are atleast 3 times more productive and creative. IT IS ALSO SOMETHING INDIA MUST FOCUS ON.. INDIA HAS EXTREMELY LARGE UNEXPLORED POTENTIAL.
What you say makes a lot of sense.
You have to use and impose a "lingua franca" in such cases, because no one will give up their language for one of another ethnic-geographical group.
Either India focuses on English or it uses a neutral artificifial language, a kind of Esperanto.
That foreign language is now Indian. English is part of India now.
@@arjunraj823
It's not Indian, it is and will remain a colonial language
Ironically, those who oppose Hindi, speak poor English
India could have adopted Sanskrit as one national language and teach two other languages at school
@@varoonnone7159 Hindi is alien to many Indians than English.
@@varoonnone7159 In part you are right. BUT keep in mind that it is a huge advantage to be bilingual English: it practically opens the doors of the world to you. Look at the Scandinavian countries, they are practically bilingual continental language and English and I can migrate and/or interact with the whole world easily.
By now, English has established itself as a lingua franca. There is little that can be done. Or as I said above, we all need to get around a table and agree to use a neutral language like (I mention this one because it is the most famous) Esperanto.
i thinnk they can

One thing for sure tho, our govt(regardless of who's in power) or the best known capitalists would only support such an idea if it comes from top students like IITians (most of whom leave this place in blind pursuit of CPA-like packages) Really sad that others are often looked down upon... However there's hope since one of the chief scientists (P Verumuthuvel) of chdyn-3 project was not a Btech graduate from any IIT as such, and this being another such case comprising a non-IITian founder... Ah… Chapati X…
Its high time govt should invest upon educated class too so that they would stay in india and create employment there and help in development.
Ignoring their convenience is the root cause why cream layer like to migrate to already failing US.
Becoz of their whole focus on reservation gifted classes the main individuals who can actually do something for this country are either leaving or can't use their capabilities to maximum. For our country it has always been an issue. We of general class youths are always neglected and we are being treated as criminals who are being punished for their ancestors by this system.
Failing US!? Joke of the year, US is the only country in the world that is moving toward a bright future on a staggering speed, in science, technology, innovation and economy.

"The Indian Space Research Organization is planning to send astronauts to space before the year 2015-16, deputy project director of ISRO's Chandrayaan Mission Jaswinder Singh Khoral said in Chandigarh on Thursday. (Times of India)." This is the statement made by India in year 2010. This reminds of this meme "India superpower by 2020". Today is 2024, 14 years after the statement was made, and India has not sent a single astronaut to space using indigenous technology. Maitreya Bhakal (|ndian): If you want something said, ask India. If you want something done, ask China.🤭
SpaceX does a lot of things for NASA via outsourcing at significant cost savings to NASA. That is one line of business for SpaceX. SpaceX has also launched the StarLink service i.e satellite internet.
ISRO is already doing a lot of things, satellite related at significantly cheaper costs to their Western counterparts, especially NASA. Is there a need for private players to grow the space marketspace in India ? I would liken this to BCCI not supporting the Kapil Dev supported T20 league prior to them launching the IPL. It is about territory. It doesn't look like ISRO needs help unless you are an ancillary company/vendor supporting ISRO in their processes and components for their satellite and space missions.
Sorry, but above comment makes it clear that you understand very little about space technology and space business in general.More importantly the analogy you made about BCCI and ICL is totally flawed and bogus in this case because it's ISRO that has handheld these space startups in launch and satellite technology through an entity called INSPACe. Moreover it is beneficial for ISRO to outsource these small satellite launches to these startups as they can do it cheaper saving GOI money and make more resources and manpower available to ISRO for more core space science missions which currently they cannot undertake because they also have to do these commercial satellite launches.
@@TheDizzyness You have agreed with what I have exactly mentioned about the space and aeronautics space in India being ISRO's domain and not even a pin can move without the tacit approval of ISRO.

They don't get enough time to just attend some Taylor Swift 's shows or make some tik tok or do stuffs to entertain people or stuffs to entertain itself.. I mean of course there are people who also do that but majority of youth here is doing anything and everything, there's not passion for country or such but also because they think doing such jobs can make him lead a better life.
